Our Mothers Day lunch was booked with Open Table in February & an e.mail confirmation from you was sent, on Friday 24th March I phoned Azur to reduce our table by one person ( all done).
We arrive at 12.30 on Sunday 26 March only to be told that there was nothing booked in the name of Tomlin even though an e. mail had been sent Sunday morning confirming our table, a table was found but I was very cross about the obvious lack of communication also your staff were good but there weren't enough of them.
The food and service was excellent from the moment we arrived.
Very friendly and attentive staff
The food was extremely well presented and was well cooked .
Romantic meal for two .. hit the mark
No fuss birthday lunch. Good Service and food. Wonderfull view out to sea.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food and value for money and superb and attentive staff.
Will definitely be returning in the NOT to distant future x
lovely Sunday lunch with friends, excellent waitress, (Lara) will certainly be returning!
Myself and my partner visited the Azur for Sunday roast. Followed the great reviews and can see why.
We had 2 course lunch and very pleased on the welcome, service and good food quality. Beautiful views out to sea aswell. Such a great location.
We shall definateley return to this restaurant.
Excellent service, Fabulous views, a thoroughly good all round evening
Good quality fresh food. Attentive, friendly yet professional service.
Rubbish.poor food.poor service.staff had no clue about anything.my boy friend fish looked like scrambled egg.im so embarressed to of recommended this restrant ti my boyfriend.its the worst ever in my life.x
It was one thing after another. Drinks ordered, but forgotten. Gin and tonic arrived in a half pint beer glass. When asked if this could be changed was told they had no glasses ( this was because all of the glasses were piled up around the restaurant and rather than 'stewards' collecting and washing they spent more time chatting to each other.
Food took a long time to arrive and again was told the wait was because of how busy they were yet only 3 tables indoors were full. The rest of the tables were empty and although outside was busy they were mostly just couples drinking and enjoying the sea view.
Most of the young staff were friendly apart from the snooty, sneery manageress, but seemed very inexperienced. Asking if we were OK way too many times that it became uncomfortable. Constantly apologising and making up excuses.
Food arrived cold. Well actually the fish cakes and the salad were boiling hot!!! The sweet potato fries were freezing cold. We could have complained at the time but to be honest we didn't want to have to wait again. As mentioned the salad was also hot as the fish cakes were dumped on top.
This place is trying to be something it is not. It is a beautiful location but the food and the ambiance does not match up to it.
Arrived at the time book, all outside tables (as requested) were full. The staff
were busy with wedding guests who I was told would be going to the lower
level shortly, but all seemed very manic to us, so decided to go elsewhere.
Perhaps we'll try it another time.
Items from main menu not available should be
advertised, not everyone wants a roast on a Sunday!
What could be better, great food, great service and a wonderful view?
I thoroughly recommend a visit to Azur.
As we were married at the azur they instantly recognised us and we were.treated as very special guests
When booking I asked for a bottle of red wine for our anniversary and there it was, the waitress poured us a glass and congratulated us on our anniversary and was brilliant with the conversation. Our room came out quick with no faults ! There was a lovely 40s singer in the room which was amazing. Our waitress even recommended bars to go to after.
One thing I would say is that it would be nice if the waitresses/waiters dressed smarter to match the look of the restaurant be the service they deliver.
Meat was very nice, I had the beef and lamb. Roasties excellent. Carrot+ purée don't like. Like baby food. Cabbage stringy . Cauliflower ok. All together, not very special for the price. Starter was excellent. So a mixed review. We came earlier in the week for an evening meal, and it was very very good. We will be back!😉
This is from Brian Rainford, booked with Terry Watsons name.
I regularly enjoy a coffee and sandwich on the terrace, it's a favourite stopping point on my cycle route from Eastbourne to Hastings. It doesn't matter what I order, the service is always 1st Class (even for a simple cup of tea).
I can now add to my impressions, after a fantastic family "mothers day" lunch. The Venue is just perfect as we sat looking out to sea. The food realy good, we all enjoyed the 3 course set menu but best of all was the service. The restaurant was totally full, but we were made to feel special and service was excellent.
We visited Azur Hastings for Sunday lunch to celebrate Mum's 85th birthday .
Wheelchair access was good , as was the location ( in good weather) as on seafront promenade overlooking beach and sea . Alas it was too windy and cool to sit outside which would have been quieter. Staff were courteous and helpful.
Bit of an odd mix which affected ambience and our enjoyment.
Restaurant was very noisy due to wooden floors , 'club'music being played ; there was a wedding party going on ,.so not good for an octogenarian with hearing difficulties ! 17 year old also found mix of ' parties' and music rather odd and off putting.
Food was mediocre ; rather tasteless though some dishes tasted better than they looked . Some slow to arrive . Carvery portions large but taste and quality not so good.
We made the most of it but all in all it was rather disappointing .
The view from Azur enhances the entire experience'. The food is exceptional value and service is excellent. They even have live lobster so you can select your dish.
Catch of the day and local produce contribute to a superb we priced menu.
Having eaten at Azur previously and been reasonably satisfied we were sad to note that both the food and the service from the 'established staff' had both deteriorated. The young, keen and hard working junior staff were the exception, however, and kept the 'star' rating .reasonable.
The setting of the Azur is great ... and the restaurant was full .. so maybe my observations are just a 'blip'.
