Ambiance and service were excellent. Crab cakes best we ever had and we travel to east coast a lot. Lamb osso buco very good. Duck was tasty but legs were tough and stringy and skin was not at all crisp. Overall an excellent evening.
Always love this place, Melanie was great. Courtney always comes by to say hello. A must stop for the restaurant, and awesome rooms if you have a chance to spend the night.
The extremely fixed menu made ordering quite challenging. There were no bread baskets available and the side potatoes were dry as if they were sitting in a pan for hours. I ordered a Martini which was so unpleasant that I had to send it back. On the other hand, the room was gorgeous and I wished the food matched the ambiance.
The ambiance of the restaurant and the food was great. There were many issues though that would cause us not to return though. Our waitress seemed to be the only one out of the 5 that we saw that was working. She was literally sweating and to her credit never complained. The woman who appeared to be the manager did not lift a finger to assist. We had made the staff aware that we were there to celebrate our daughters engagement and nothing was done for that. We found a chicken finger on the floor under our table and stacks of dirty glasses on the bar from the night before which caused us to be alarmed due to Covid.
Loved the Baker House. Very eclectic looking inside. Best view of the lake:)
An exquisite experience in food, drink and ambience!
The fixed menu for Christmas Eve offered no children's options and the meals were $65/plate. I understand a limited menu but there was no vegetarian option. The duck was rubbery and hard to cut. The setting is beautiful and appealing, the food was not.
Loved the atmosphere and food!
Food and service were excellent although we thought the brunch was going to be a buffet instead of Prix fixe.
This is one of our favorite places and did not disappoint even given the CoVid restrictions. We had a great time with unlimited champagne and a prefix menu. Cannot wait until the brunch is back in 2021!
Baker house was great! We had a festive evening with good food and drink. All of the staff was amazing and it was a "safe" and comfortable place to enjoy a much needed night out.
Our first trip to The Baker House, and not disappointed! Delightfully surprised, in fact!
You pick 1 of 5 different rooms to dine in, each exquisitely decorated!
The Brunch was a good value (unlimited Mimosas!) and very tasty, as well!
We'll be back!
House is great, food was good (crab cakes were delicious), we sat on the front porch, which would’ve had a nice view, but it was dark, and everyone was friendly. Would like to try again when it’s warm outside and during the day time.
I did not know that the champagne brunch was a preset menu and the only way that I knew how much the brunch would be per person is because I called. I would not recommend the champagne brunch. Also the server was nice and apologetic however I had to ask her more than one time for items.
The atmosphere, ambiance and service was great. Was a bit disappointed with the food.
We had this reservation and got there 30 mins prior so we told them we want to have a drink at the bar before we sit down for dinner and they said thats totally fine and to let them know when are ready. We came back to the host stand at 7:30 when was our reservation and the host sit a couple that was there for a 20 people party. She never came back to sit us. The bartenders didnt know to make the drinks and they had to look up on the receipes for the house drinks.. i think that’s unacceptable in a place like that where food and everything is expensive.. the decor and everything its impressive but not having a host to sit you in a Friday night.. thats crazy. We both are servers and we understand but never happens at our place like that.. she never came back, even tho we were waiting for maybe 10 mins, being aware we are there waiting. We just decided to leave and try some other places. We ve been so excited to see that place, since it was our anniversary dinner.. we were fascinated by the place but the service really needs improvement. They werent busy, they only got a table of 20 people and they freaked out.. I was waiting for quite a while to get and pay for my check.. i could easily walk out for such bad service and the drinks werent that good to be honest.. I do not like to complain because I know it can be tough but that was aweful and when you know you pay good money, you just need to know where your dollars go..
The food and service were awesome, you absolutely cannot beat the view of Lake Geneva. The service is quick, and attentive and the really pay attention to COVID safe dining! Someone give the Chef a virtual High-Five!
Brunch was amazing! The flavors were great and the bottomless mimosas were the perfect compliment. It’s a historic mansion and you can choose to sit any room. Very cool experience with a view of the lake.
We absolutely loved the Baker House!! We went there to celebrate our recent engagement, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. The ambiance is fun and unique, and the food was terrific. I was especially impressed with the prime rib. The service was excellent as well.
It was a perfects-date and the entertainment from Red Rabbit was
Awesome. Our waitress was excellent and the food and beverages Right on. Thank you
We started out with a drink at the bar and Courtney, the bartender was friendly and engaging. We then had dinner in one of the cozy living areas, all with working fireplaces. Melanie, our server, did a wonderful job! Our steaks were amazing and dessert was delicious!! I would definitely recommend this unique restaurant to anyone.
Great spot for breakfast with friends. Beautiful view, quirky ambiance, good food, terrific service.
If you like classic style dining with a large portioned meat, generic potato, and steamed vegetables, then this is the place for you. While everything was cooked correctly and tasted good, I doubt I would go back because I enjoy a bit more modern style dining where each individual entree comes with thought-out paired accompaniments. At Baker's House, you choose your meat and every single entree comes with the same potato and vegetable of the day. I have no complaints about the technical abilities of the chef, but I wish they were a bit more adventurous. The atmosphere is really cool if like old historic houses with a Victorian vibe and I think it's great for Halloween (they had cool decorations), but it's possibly a bit too rickety for my tastes otherwise.
tl;dr Would recommend for classic meat and potatoes people, but would suggest Sopra Bistro (nearby) for those with a more adventerous palate.
Delicious crab cakes!! Great server- very attentive
We had the biggest Prime Rib we have ever seen. You could cut it with a fork. There was a great band in the other room but we couldn’t hear it or sit in there and eat. They played to an empty room. The Mansion is gorgeous!
The Baker House is another one of those once-exclusive venues, whose current success, if any, rests on its laurels. It’s a tired old dame with no umph. The service is just ok. The food is just ok. The house itself could really use a good cleaning. Antique doesn’t mean it’s ok to leave the age-old dust and spider webs around for guests. There was a piano player in one room that I’m pretty sure just kept playing the same 8 songs over and over again throughout the night. It got tiresome. I would suggest that some new and motivated ownership could really revive the place.
Nice atmosphere. Great food. One of our favorites.
Great food- unfortunate service. The waitress forgot about us on numerous occasions. Took 20 minutes from the time we were sat to get our waitress, then never came back after dinner was delivered.
Meat was very good. Sides were not.
The food and service were outstanding. A great atmosphere to have a special dinner. Drinks were good. A little pricey but well worth it.
My lobster tail was overcooked to the point of chewy. The food and wine were overpriced. In the bar area, they did not wipe down tables when people got up to leave. Not really safe during COVID-19. I don't feel the need to ever go back.
I am sorry that this review is coming so late, but I felt important to send. A week prior to arriving for dinner, I spoke to your manager about your Covid protocols, of which were relayed. On Oct 3rd, before dinner, we had drinks at the bar. Much to all of our dismay - both bartenders that evening were not following protocol and had their masks off (1 off, 1 well below the mouth). VERY disappointing - especially after having the earlier conversation with management. I hope you can relay to your bartending team that you lost three customers - as during this difficult time - their lack of attention to masks was as disturbing as it was disrespectful. I had two people in our party that have compromised immune systems.
food was great ,service was terrific! Will go back again!
What a unique dining experience - inside an old mansion where you will either be seated in the parlor, the library, or the main living room. Period hats are available for you to wear during your dining experience. There is also lots of seating and firepits outside to sit at with a cocktail before or after dinner. It was so much fun and the food was delicious!
What a charming place. Small seating areas that feel cozy and homelike. Old world elegance at its best
I love this place. It's like stepping back in time.
An outstanding experience. It was like stepping into history. We enjoyed the food and the ambiance as we explored the beauty of the house. Enjoyed live music on the lawn.
We went for our 10th anniversary dinner and the food was as good as our surroundings! The chicken angelica was scrumptious and the filet with mushrooms was outstanding. Service from Melanie was impeccable and Tim was delightful in his wistful introduction to the Baker House. Between the ambiance and the food, the night was perfect. The topper was the live band playing our favorite 70's and 80's tunes out on the front lawn whilst sitting in the gazebo with a hot fire going on a colder night. A very memorable evening indeed.
I’m sorry to report this review, but I think people should know the food is lower than IHOP. I made a reservation a long time ago and I’m extremely disappointed and was disgusted with the brunch. The harsh browns were soaked in grease making them soggy. We will never go back. Your better off eating at Egg Harbor.
Family in for Labor Day. Was seated at a table that had not been cleaned or sanitized. Ask to have it cleaned only to wait and have to ask someone else to clean it. Ordered Eggs Benedict and it was cold throughout.
