Birthday lunch. Very good meshes in place for COVID, staff were excellent and really good. Family all enjoyed.
Post museum, late evening drop-in for four. We chose a good Riesling to drink, oysters, lobster spaghetti, Roquefort salad, moules frites and some sides. It's quiet these days, but the ambience felt just right somehow. It's still grand, and with fantastic service and food prepared with genuine care. It feels reliable, good quality, elegant but not snobbish. Balthazar makes an effort but you get the sense it always wants to have fun, doesn't judge, just delivers on a simple promise that many others get wrong in small ways. I think the detail here speaks volumes, on this occasion anyway. We loved it. It was the first time for our friends, and I know they'll have made a happy memory here. I'll be back again. Thank you!
Excellent service and a very enjoyable experience, 100% recommendation!
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. It’s our second visit to the restaurant and we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday. There’s a varied selection of cocktails and as a vegetarian my food was delicious. I would like to see more vegetarian starter options though. Our waiters were very friendly and helpful.
We had a great lunch although the onion soup wasn’t up to its usual standard
We will return and do recommend Balthazar
Great building and well appointed. Food very average, wine enormously overpriced. Staff void of personality.
The food was lovely, however my friend and I found the service towards the end of our meal unfriendly. I think the waiters changed shifts. The second waiter was not as good as the first. We never had to wait for service which was nice. There was always somebody at hand to sort out a request. drinks and food arrived promptly.
A very pleasant environment.
I would definitely recommend Balthazar.
Good French food. Staff could be a bit more friendly... but maybe they try to be French :) (I’m French so this comment is authorised)
Haven't been back to the UK since February because of COVID and Balthazar is always on my list of places I must return to on every trip. Again, it was great. It never disappoints!
This restaurant has kept up its standards the food was lovely and and eventually the service excellent.
Although quiet the ambiance was lovely and it felt very safe
The ambiance is always fantastic but the food was served a bit cold ... though wonderful in taste
We love it... quality, quality, quality. Wonderful food and excellent service. Beautiful surroundings and great atmosphere, even in these unusual times
Had a lovely time, had eggs royale and New York pancakes all of it was lovely. Only issue was a long wait to order but otherwise a lovely venue
Outstanding... as always!
Service took too long.
We had a perfect evening there
Food is great and the service is just perfect
Toi noisy, very long service , not as good as expected
Service as always was great! The food and wine tastes stale.
Lovely food in a lovely setting
Love this restaurant and have been coming for years. Great food and a pretty authentic French brasserie vibe. Service isn't great though, just a little slow, forgetful, clumsy. I complain about it all the time and never improves yet I keep coming back because I love the food.
A little Tate of French dining in the heart of Covent Garden. Classic menu items are done well and the crustacean bar is something to behold. Looking forward to our next visit.
First time back with the new measures and it was a joy, felt very safe and the food and service was wonderful. Will be back again very soon!
Just wonderful to be back. My favourite London restaurant. The staff absolutely make the place.
Always a great experience!
First visit, wasnt impressed with the breakfast, not of good enough quality for the price, even the fried eggs were overcooked. Wont be making a return visit if they cant even cook fried eggs properly. Poor food, overpriced.
Balthazar is a lovely french Restaurant in the middle of London. The service was really good and waiters were very attentive. We ordered a set menu and the food was worth the money. Even though it was just a set meal, they still cooked a tasty meal. The restaurant is well decorated and has a romantic ambience. Overall, we had an excellent time dining at Balthazar. Highly Recommend!
Sadly I was quite disappointed with Balthazar London, having heard such great things about it. For me, it was nothing more than an overpriced Cote Brasserie, although not as good. It's a nice looking and atmospheric restaurant, but the food is very ordinary and overpriced for the offering. The wine list is also quite average. Really surprising for a French restaurant. I wouldn’t bother returning.
First experience was in New York in 2013. I loved the atmosphere, the attentive service and great food. This visit ensured that I returned last year when I learned that there was now a Balthazar in London. I booked using the Open table app which is so easy and successful. My experience in London, which I was able to share with friends, matched my New York experience..... and brought back lots of happy memories during a very uncertain time in the world. Thank you Balthazar!
Wonderful food done just right. Excellent service and a fantastic wine list. Looking forward to our next visit.
Service was very very slow it took a while to get the waiters attention but food was tasty
We had a lovely pre theatre supper celebrating a birthday. We love the restaurant.
Long standing client
I like the place and the food
my only complain is that the atmosphere was too loud. But the food was delicious and excellent service. Would return nevertheless.
Great food, great service.
Great as always - we have been coming regularly for years, and it never disappoints
We chose Balthazar for my husband’s birthday with our 8 yo daughter. We were made to feel really welcome and
The staff were polite and food tasty but it’s extremely noisy. My partner and I booked a table on two occasions and the last time, we were placed in between two groups of afternoon teas with ladies screeching over each other. Also, the half lobster I ordered was filled with claws and not very much meat.
Went for afternoon tea for my partners birthday. Great service from all staff. Afternoon tea had lots of different cakes - too much! Staff boxed up leftover cakes to take away.
Service efficient , waiters very friendly and food delicious.
