Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed, a bit above casual but definitely not pompous.
The courses were classical french and extremely tasty.
This place is highly recommended - suitable for small groups or families but also for couples.
One of our best experience ever, my guests were so happy about everything especially the new guy that he said started only one month ago to work there...absolutely super star!
We waited 30 minutes before anyone approached us for a drink order. The waiter was very nice but overwhelmed with a large number of tables in his area. Once we complained to the maitre’d we received prompt attention and he did most of the serving. The food was just adequate. We had a better experience in NYC.
Great atmosphere food v good , location easy to get to . Staff busy and some trainees but service overall good . Would go again and recommend to other people . You
Best late night burger in town.
Thank you for making it a memorable anniversary meal. Nice quiet corner table was chosen for us. Great menu and I loved the beetroot salad as a starter and the salmon as a main - shared a creme brulee, which had a Happy Anniversary piped around the plate edge - nice touch.
We were made to feel welcome, had great service from our waitress and wonderful food - I would not hesitate to recommend Balthazar and we will return ourselves at some future time.
Fabulous! From the Welcome, and then the table, staff, service, wine, food and ambience. I had flowers with me and the wonderful staff put them in water. I love this restaurant - have been three times now and never disappointed. New York is also good! The wine is expensive but hey ho. Lovely for drinks alone too. Cool in the best of ways. Try it. J
Service variable. Felt like we weren’t important enough
Our favorite meal of our trip to London. The food was excellent—beef stroganoff and beef Bourguignon. We were so happy. Our 8 year old loved the spaghetti. Great service.
Service was fantastic - attentive but not overbearing. The food was delicious and the restaurant had a great ambience.
Usually dine during the week with colleagues, but went on a Saturday night with family. Food was very good but service was very inattentive. Had to flag down the waiter for everything. Would go back but likely avoid the weekend.
One of our favourites in London. The food is good rather than great but the place is always packed, the atmosphere is buzzy and the service is friendly and attentive. A shame the table was so tiny and stuck in the corner but I guess it meant we could people watch!
Birthday brunch for my daughter’s 18th. Great place, amazing food and ambience
Although our food was delayed, the staff handle everything in a very professional way.
LOVED THE AFTERNOON TEA. This was our first time having afternoon tea and the selection was incredible. The hostess was not friendly whatsoever though. When we said hello she ignored us, grabbed some menus and walked us to our table. No “enjoy your meal” or anything. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the flowers added to the afternoon tea vibe as well.
As always a great experience. Staff are wonderful, service was impeccable, we were with two 14 year-olds and staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating!!!
Only slight niggle was the £28.00 lobster spaghetti was a little shy on the lobster front... absolutely delicious though!
Overall, great service, great ambience, great food... would thoroughly recommend
We came for a pre-theatre dinner, and ordered Fine de Claire mussels, escargots, scallop cerviche, lamb rack and raspberry soufflé, and all were fantastic! Best London restaurant I've visited yet
I submitted a special request on my OpenTable booking about it being my partner's birthday, and the staff even served us some complimentary macarons at the end, complete with a candle and a 'Happy Birthday' message!
The meal didn't come cheap, but it wasn't outrageously expensive and was certainly worth the money! Highly recommended
Really friendly staff and fast service
Booked a pre-theatre Saturday lunch. While the starter arrived in a timely manner and was lovely, we waited over 35 - 40 minutes for the mains to arrive and then had to rush the meal in order to get to our show. Sadly, after such a long wait for the mains the pasta turned out to be over cooked. Hardly worth the wait.
Very touristy. Service not dependent on returning guests. Not worth it.
Great food and great service. Very wolseleyesqe in ambiance.
We enjoyed afternoon tea, the display was lovely and tasted great too!!
The place was rather amplified, however my folks and I thoroughly enjoyed the service and dishes. Tarte Tartin and Beef bourguignon definitely recommended. Double Thumbs up to our waiter who was super enthusiastic and made us feel comfortable.
We have been a number of times and it never disappoints! Wonderful staff and great classic food!
Terrible food, I would not go back. Substandard for a brunch in London. No care or attention taken over the food... with all the amazing eateries in London this is one to miss.
Great food and people watching
Tasty food and fast service
great food although my starter was wrong so it had to be changed so my partner ate on her own while mine was changed then I ate mine
So I didn’t pay the optional note optional service charge of £10 but was stopped from leaving and questioned why, not good
Although we had a to wait a few minutes for our table the front of house staff were helpful and polite and once seated offered us a glass of champagne which was an unexpected touch. Well done for turning that annoying wait into a good experience.
Delicious duck confit and pommes gratin
Good service and food was acceptable although not quite as good as on previous occasions.
Everything was great but it was a bit noisy.
Waiters great, fast service, nice ambience. Good for Covent Garden
Service was very good, helpful with allergies. The food was average. Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant.
The loud swearing Americans at the next table were unpleasant.
Most enjoyable. Really good food and great, buzzy ambience.
Excellent food and service as always and great value for money
We didn't think much of Balthazar. The menu relies on the same repertoire of French bistro favourites you'd find at Cafe Rouge and Cote Brasserie, excepte here they're easily 50% more expensive. For the premium, you get a prime central location and a large and noisy dining room in which the volume levels are so high it's hard to conduct a conversation without shouting or straining to hear. Food was competent and tasty in a mass-catering kind of way, without being memorable in any way whatsoever. We escaped as soon as we could, and enjoyed our dessert and coffee at the new Portuguese bakery over the road, which was definitely the highlight of our meal. Big shout out for Santa Nata: pastel de nata to die for! I have to say that if you want a luxurious brasserie-style dinner, places like Delaunay and The Ivy Brasserie do the whole Grand Cafe thing so much better than Balthazar.
