Based in a converted carriage works, the interior of Southwark’s Baltic restaurant is achingly hip. Warm neutral colours, pale wooden beams and natural light from the glass atrium give the place a natural, organic feel. Right by Southwark tube, Baltic is an ideal place to kick back and indulge in some inspired Eastern European delicacies pre- or post- a trip to The Globe Theatre or The Tate Modern, and it just wouldn't be right to leave without sampling some of the many varieties of Polish and Russian vodka that, along with the hearty food, are Baltic’s calling card. Polish food devotees will know owner Jan Woroniecki’s name from the uber successful Wodka in Kensington, and Chef Kristov in Hammersmith; Baltic too offers a selection of traditional and not-so-traditional Eastern European dishes like pierogi, chilled Hungarian sour cherry soup or caviar blinis served with (you guessed it!) vodka. The other great draw is the jazz, on Sunday nights.

A very nice restaurant with friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff. The waiter helped select the perfect wine to compliment my meal. I had the Schnitzel for main, along with the beef tartare for the starter.
I went pre theatre, I was seated quickly and service was excellent and gave me good time to get to the Old Vic.
The pre theatre set menu was limited so I went a la carte.
The cocktails were also lovely.

Always have a good experience at Baltic, lovely light space, good food and wine, informal and efficient service. Beer and vodkas are good, too.

Excellent pre-theatre dinner promptly served with a good range of choices. Description tends to emphases the vodka bar which is unbalanced - this is a good restaurant with a bar not the other way round. High ceilings make it good for conversation

Gorgeous food, beautiful room, the best service and amazing value. Also dangerously fabulous cocktails. Baltic is the first place I recommend to visitors to London and it never disappoints.

Great location and value. Lovely interior-makes you feel special. Plenty of interesting menu options. ‘Happy hour’ cocktails available-2for1 so you must order two identical drinks for the deal. Tastecard 2for1 is accepted for the à la carte menu.
Not our first time and we will go back.

I invited my friends to enjoy a bit of Polish food which we’ve never done before. I’m myself from Poland and I must say that quality of dishes is great. We shared a few starters between us which were really good! Pierogi and bigos is just something everyone should try. Main dishes were also great in taste, the portions were very generous. The choices of vodkas also very impressive. I’d recommend it to anyone!

I loved Baltic. The food, the vodka, the service. It was lacking abit of atmosphere, due to not being overly busy and no background noise. I will definitely return, it was lovely.

Our Polish guest said her mother would approve of the food. No higher praise than that. It was quiet on a Sunday afternoon, so not enough body heat to warm up the large open space, but still pleasant. Not our first visit, and not our last.

We had a three course meal, with the highlight being the lamb dish. When it is cooked to that quality, you really can't beat lamb. Overall a great evening.

Lovely to see a much more unusual menu. On arrival, getting our first drinks order was a little slow, but it may have been because we moved from the bar to the table, and everything after that was smooth. We were 3 friends catching up, so we were slow to order but the staff were very efficient in following up if we were ready. We all enjoyed our food, the house wine was reasonably priced and very palatable. A vibrant atmosphere and a nice gesture of a birthday cheesecake at no request as they’d seen me opening gifts st the table! Great time had by all. My 2nd visit. Looking forward to the 3rd

Overall, the experience was decent.

This was my second time at Baltic and I left feeling the same way. The food is phenomenal, both times I have been very pleased with the size, taste, and price of the food. However, the service needs to be much improved. Each time I have been I have felt like all they are trying to do is get you to spend more and more money, and are mad when you don't.

First, we had a server act as if they did not have tap water so we had to pay for water, afterward another server then did bring us tap water later in the night. Then they are constantly asking if you want cocktails, even if you say you don't want any. If you have ordered some, they seem disappointed/annoyed when you don't want more. Finally, after we said we didn't want any dessert they still brought the dessert menu to try to convince us to buy more. I understand that a restaurant has to make money, but you all can be a lot more subtle/respectful in the way you convey that.

It isn't the quality of the food that is bad, it is actually very good, its the service.

A modest an attractive entrance hides quite a substantial restaurant behind it. You feel as though you've discovered a somewhat secret dining place. I ate the chestnut dumplings and the polish sausages for the main course, both of which were far better than what I was expecting. I'm used to eastern european cuisine being fairly plain: saurkraut dumped cold on the side of a plate etc. I'm really quite impressed. Any restaurant that can make polish sausage and make it into a high class meal is doing well!

We enjoyed it very much as it was not like in other restaurants - you were not pressured to eat quickly and to leave soon as others are already waiting for your table. It s a very relaxing atmosphere and the food was very fresh and tasty. Clearly a recommendation and we will come back.
