third or fourth visit to the Baltic and still as good as ever
Lovely restaurant and food. Have been before with a group of friends but this time for date night, restaurant was perfect for both events
Tasty food, best dumplings in town, good vodka.. Fair value. Location not the best but interior decoration, friendly staff and delicious food compensate it well.
Actually I booked already for 6 peoples on Good Friday .
Very Good date spot. Me and my boyfriend had a lovely time.
Lovely to see a much more unusual menu. On arrival, getting our first drinks order was a little slow, but it may have been because we moved from the bar to the table, and everything after that was smooth. We were 3 friends catching up, so we were slow to order but the staff were very efficient in following up if we were ready. We all enjoyed our food, the house wine was reasonably priced and very palatable. A vibrant atmosphere and a nice gesture of a birthday cheesecake at no request as they’d seen me opening gifts st the table! Great time had by all. My 2nd visit. Looking forward to the 3rd
Overall, the experience was decent.
This was my second time at Baltic and I left feeling the same way. The food is phenomenal, both times I have been very pleased with the size, taste, and price of the food. However, the service needs to be much improved. Each time I have been I have felt like all they are trying to do is get you to spend more and more money, and are mad when you don't.
First, we had a server act as if they did not have tap water so we had to pay for water, afterward another server then did bring us tap water later in the night. Then they are constantly asking if you want cocktails, even if you say you don't want any. If you have ordered some, they seem disappointed/annoyed when you don't want more. Finally, after we said we didn't want any dessert they still brought the dessert menu to try to convince us to buy more. I understand that a restaurant has to make money, but you all can be a lot more subtle/respectful in the way you convey that.
It isn't the quality of the food that is bad, it is actually very good, its the service.
Never been disappointed eating here. Friendly and attentive staff, excellent and interesting food, amazing vodka and cocktails! Don't miss out!
The restaurant is great; however they need to clean the bathrooms better.
Delicious dumplings and very kind / attentive staff! Not many soft furnishings so very noisy and the toilets are not well kept
All around fantastic. Service was impeccable, food delicious, and prices reasonable. Excellent to find more inventive and upscale Eastern European food while in London. Will definitely be back.
A modest an attractive entrance hides quite a substantial restaurant behind it. You feel as though you've discovered a somewhat secret dining place. I ate the chestnut dumplings and the polish sausages for the main course, both of which were far better than what I was expecting. I'm used to eastern european cuisine being fairly plain: saurkraut dumped cold on the side of a plate etc. I'm really quite impressed. Any restaurant that can make polish sausage and make it into a high class meal is doing well!
We enjoyed it very much as it was not like in other restaurants - you were not pressured to eat quickly and to leave soon as others are already waiting for your table. It s a very relaxing atmosphere and the food was very fresh and tasty. Clearly a recommendation and we will come back.
It’s been sometime since I was at the Baltic. I only booked on Thursday for Friday night and was pleased to see when we arrived that the restaurant was packed. Nonetheless we were seated immediately at a table in the midst of the buzzing restaurant. Service was prompt, attentive, and efficient despite the number of covers. I started with something which was described, unappetisingly, on the menu as “lard”, nevertheless, tasted great. I followed that with the schnitzel and finished with the New York Cheese Cake. The latter came served covered with a cherry compote which was not mentioned on the menu. Good cheese cake doesn’t need this adornment and I don’t like cherries. When I pointed this out to the waitron, a fresh, gloop free, cake was delivered promptly with apologies, and without argument.
The ability to buy wines in half-litres was a plus.
Baltic has been on my list for a very long time and I'm very happy to have crossed it off at last. A beautiful space and some classic Eastern European staples (with an extensive wine list and, of course, plenty of vodkas too) but rather expensive considering what you'd pay for the same food in its country of origin.
Lovely food with great atmosphere
Great experience, lovely service, tasty food. Would recommend and would return.
Third time i have visited and excellent!
Cooking to a high standard with real attention to detail
This was a 50th birthday surprise, and did not disappoint (the restaurant had been recommended twice). The restaurant is beautifully designed, the staff courteous and solicitous and the meal hearty and flavourful (the borscht was velvety smooth and rich, - the best I've tasted). The be-candled cake was delivered at exactly the right moment and with charm. I won't hesitate to return - especially if paired with tickets to the National or Bridge theatres. Faultless.
Beautiful restaurants and great food, however the best dish they had in the past wasn't on the menu. Which is disappointing. The temperature in the main restaurant bit on the cool side. Felt really cold on during the meal. Otherwise really great and very reasonably priced. Service is outstanding. 😀
The food is tasty and unusual - the different vodkas are fun to try. It was my husband’s birthday and I mentioned this on the booking form. The restaurant took a note of this and presented him with a little cake and a candle which was much appreciated. The service was slick and professional.
I have eaten there a few times before and I would recommend this restaurant to others.
Excellent meal and service. We had great cocktails and good food served promptly as we were eating from the Pre Theatre menu
We took 2 people for lunch who had not visited Baltic before. They liked it very much and may well go back alone. We shall certainly come again. It is particularly convenient when visiting Tate Modern. It was much quieter at lunch time than in the evening when it be a bit noisy.
Baltic never fails to deliver; consistently good food, great service and wonderful selection of vodka
Nice to be here at lunchtime for a change. Rather quiet as we arrived at 12.45 but by 1.30 it was buzzing. Lunch set menu great value with the herrings to start with followed by delicious spring chicken. No room for pudding sadly. House wine a reasonable price and excellent service makes this a great place to linger over a business lunch
Quick cheerful service. Polish food. Good vegetables - buttery and well cooked. My fish pie was delicious but not perky. Very convenient for theatres.
Although the food was great (particularly the chicken livers on a potato rosti), the service was really, really exceptional. Would visit again.
Great food and excellent service. No more to add!
A great restaurant with an unusual menu and cocktails. It is a buzzing place with a superb atomosphere and excellent bar. I have been coming for more than 10 years and it never disappoints...
Service is really good. I really liked them bringing us bread to have with the butter and pickled vegetables. I went for dumplings in chicken broth, a bit too salty. As a main I ordered the schnitzel. Cocktails were very good. When I arrived one for the hosts told me that there was a 2-4-1 on cocktails but one of the waitresses told me after that this was only for the bar. In the end they extended the offer to our table. It would be good to clarify which info was correct. They have a jazz night on Sunday evenings advertised on their menu. I would go back
I booked Baltic for a catch-up with a friend and we both thoroughly enjoyed it - friendly efficient service, large portions of tasty food, delicious cocktails and an interesting, if a little noisy, setting. The a la carte menu was averagely priced for the area, but they do have a set menu before 7pm and happy hour for drinks before 7.30pm which makes it very good value if you go early. I always struggle to find a decent restaurant around Waterloo, and now I've found it! I'll definitely be back.
Staff were impeccable! Great service, super attentive and friendly. We had the Pre Theatre menu and it was great, the fish pie was so so good. Definitely recommend!
Good quality with reasonable price. Good atmosphere. The unfortunate thing was that service staff put the wrong dishes so many times without asking.
This was our first disappointment with Baltic. The pre-theatre menu did not seem much changed from the previous months, and the food preparation was only average. We hope that this was just a transient problem.
The fish pie was so delicious and just what we needed on a cold miserable night. This is one of my favourite local restaurants and the staff are always welcoming and fun.
Always a good experience if you like North European food and trying some different wines.
Second visit - food was excellent and restaurant service too. Sublime combination of flavors on all dishes tried .
In our group we had one Italian , one American and two Brits and it worked for all of us, including the vegetarian options chosen by friend who is vegetarian and does not eat dairy. Portions were very large
The waitress Doroty Barbara Sofia was lovely. Very knowledgeable and a lot of fun.
The only reservation was we had drinks at the bar beforehand. The barman talked a good game, but the drinks were disappointing and the service was slow.
Highly recommended .
Excellent food and great service. Would really recommend the blinis. The house recommendation for the white wine was superb. Definitely go back.
This was a real find. Beautiful inside. Excellent service - friendly and attentive but not overbearing. And excellent value for money. The prices were definitely below what you would expect for such a beautiful restaurant and with such good food. The set menu had good choices and at under £20 on a Saturday night was great.
