Bangers Bar & Grill
I’m a fan of Davys but every now and then you have a disappointing meal.
I had the veggie breakfast which was on a small plate so it looked crowded.
They had run out of mushrooms and the hash brown looked like it was only half of one.
My friends smoked salmon and scrambled egg was served on a slice of Warburton’s bread and looked like something you would get in a supermarket cafe.
So I was disappointed and went somewhere else for breakfast the following day.
I’m sure it’s not the norm but disappointing none the less.
Delicious food and friendly service. Bar area lively, however restaurant area desolate!
Good food (I really like the recommended fish pie), quiet and suits for business meetings too. Food serving seatings are deep inside, If you don't mind underground ambiance, its good to go.
Love Bangers. It's still my goto place whenever in the area. £20-30 a head is the normal range. The only thing disappointing was the staff this time. New bald headed chap was surly and didn't offer any condiments, got a little stroppy with the orders, not the usual reception from Bangers which is generally cheerful and on the ball. There were 8 of us but the restaurant wasn't busy. He did seem testy with other staff as well. A blip in an otherwise great set of lunches/dinners.
We arrived on time for our scheduled booking and were told that our table had been given to somebody else! We were seated though
I booked just the day before and asked for a quiet table. I was pleased to get an enclosed booth. Pleasant service.
We had a very enjoyable lunch last week, our waitress was exceptionally nice, friendly and efficient. Lovely atmosphere, very cosy.
Nice pub food in a cosy room (downstairs, no noise). Clearly recommended!
Being a regular at Bangers I was a bit apprehensive about the new management as Alex had looked after us for so many years. However no need to worry as levels of service were just as good. The staff were great which is what keeps us coming back. This time the steak was better than last. Don't know if it was the meat or the chef. I preferred the 1870 lager to the more trendy Peroni and still regret the loss of creamed spinach from the menu but I suppose things have to move on.
Staff were very friendly but the price spoilt it for us very expensive for what you got which wasn't much so don't go if you're hungry!
The serving staff are fantastic and in my experience the best in any London restaurant.
Bangers and mash is very good.
They didn’t have my first two preferences of main course. The atmosphere was dry quiet, but it was a Monday night. I thought it was expensive for what we got.
Love this restaurant always a great atmosphere and good cooked to a high standard. Waitress and waiters are absolutely fabulous!
Great place, much bigger than you'd think. First visit, very impressed, will be going back! The Bangers and Mash are so tasty!!
The waitresses really make this for me. They recognise me when I come in now and make a real effort to have a chat which I really appreciate.
Good is always very good.
First visit based on generally positive reviews that I had read on OpenTable. I was not disappointed. Nice ambience despite being below ground level. Good drinks selection, including real ale. Menu not extensive but enough choice for me. The food was well presented and you can tell they use quality ingredients. Last, but not least, the staff were friendly and gave excellent service. Will certainly use this venue again.
Good food, fast and efficient service.
Service, although pleasant, was very slow, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. Also, the seafood linguine was on this occasion a little grainy
Nice to find a quieter spot to have drinks and food, especially since it was Christmas time. Good selection of drinks to choose from, and we have a great table for dinner. Food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Only downside was our waiter who seemed to be a bit abrupt.
We had a little room all to ourselves (may have been the only one?), which was perfect for lunch with old friends I hadn't see for ever! Service good but unobtrusive, food good, good value and a good range. Would certainly go there again.
Not sure if it would be wheelchair friendly as it is a cellar setting down a lot of steps? Wasn't a problem to us, but with wheelchair-using friends it is something I am always aware of. Couldn't see a lift, but do ask if you are thinking of going there are the experience was excellent.
Fabulous food and service, would definitely recommend
Bangers is a reliable place to have dinner. Never busy and the food and wine is of a good standard. It's still fairly expensive as things go but it never lets you down. Not great value (Recently for 3 people it was £130 .. that included a bottle of wine and 2 pints, mains and desserts only)
Pretty good food in a business like environment. Good value. Recommend the Bangers and Mash.
Ate at Banger's after a long work day. The staff was awesome. They did a great job explaining the menu and options to a group of out of town business men that were not familiar with the place. They had good beer, wine, and food options, and we enjoyed all of it.
Food good, service needs some attention. I really like Bangers. Good solid food, reasonable wine list and very friendly staff. However, they often appear to be under-staffed with waitresses running around and too busy to get their attention. On busy days they simply need more staff.
Had booked for 8 people but an extra 2 decided to come along. The staff accommodated this without issue and provided a meal that was tasty.
Excellent bangers and mash. The staff were very friendly. Top place
This was the first time I had booked an evening meal having previously only been for business lunches. I had booked a table for 8 people to follow early evening drinks with friends. We turned up with a party of 9 and the restaurant set us another place with no fuss. Service was attentive and the food was enjoyed by all. We meet as a group every 3 months and will definitely be returning later in the year.
Good lunch - they missed a side, yet we were still charged for it. Good place for a quick City Lunch.
The service of the waitresses is outstanding. They are super efficient and the friendliest that I have experienced in any London restaurant.
Meal was fine but they lost my reservation despite sending me a confirmation the day before. Did find us a tiny table eventually.
Food & service excellent as always
Booked a table for 8 of us for lunch and we were given our own room which was perfect. Great wine and food with very helpful staff + very reasonable, would definitely recommend.
A decent restaurant, well located close to Moorgate station. The wine was very good, but the food mostly average. Very happy with the service.
Good for business lunch. Quick friendly service. Interesting wine list. Décor is quaint with candles, different tables, individual rooms etc. Relaxed atmosphere - able to talk without distraction. Food was wholesome and good.
The waitresses really do make a difference here. Always happy and smiling and they give superb service. I went for a business lunch for four people. The food was really good (bangers and mash is well worth trying).
Arrived to a very busy bar down the mirrored steps. Went through to the private room at the back called the office. It was lovely to be away from the quiz night that was also going on. The waiter and waitress were very timely and friendly. The food was great and we all loved our dishes. I particularly liked my sticky toffee dessert. Wines were very reasonably priced too. Second visit to this bar and still enjoyed it.
The night we went there were several group bookings including one company holding a pub quiz at the end of the area our table was in. We asked the waitress if their microphone could be turned down (which she said she did) but it was quite distracting. They had tried to mitigate it by putting us in a little "room", but although we had walls and a door there was no roof, so the sound wasn't muffled.
the food was nice, well cooked and reasonable choice, City prices. We liked the reassuringly "pub" feel you get to Davey's restaurants but next time we will check whether there are group bookings.
A place to go with a crowd and / or if you were looking for somewhere close to Liverpool Street station for a lunch / dinner before getting on a train. Good for larger groups to celebrations but also spaces with tables to get away from the noise. Tasty food.
