I didn't know Canada had culture before I went to bannock. And Im Canadian. Lol.
Turkey sandwich was amazing!
Showed up for reservation to be told they ran out of thanksgiving lunch
Bit disappointed with food and service. We had the Prix Fixe Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner. The waitress was so so, and we waited quite a while for our food, then another half hour for our dessert. We finally had to ask a bus boy about the dessert as the restaurant cleared out. Our waitress didn't check but did apologize when she brought the dessert. The turkey tasted a bit odd, but it was well presented. The price was good. $95 for two dinners with dessert and a bottle of wine. The bottle of wine saved us.
I liked the CoBb salad but looking for more greens, mushrooms, bacon etc.
We really enjoyed ourselves, good food. Main complaint is that all 5 of us wanted a ceasar salad but wasn't available as we were told a large group the night before all ordered a ceasar so they ran out. No excuses as they had lots of time to stock up very disappointing.
Good service. A bit of a wait for the table, but we had sufficient time.
Substitute fries for Caesar salad for $3.50 was outrageous when the salad was smaller than an 8 oz coffee cup. I ordered a smoked salmon wrap but they gave me a roast beef sandwich. And the smoked salmon wrap which came later was very salty.
As always the good is delicious and going earlier than usual for dinner (5:00) the noise level was low - great for us ! The server was exceptional - friendly, courteous, professional . I’ve never been disappointed but really, this waiter is terrific.
Keep up all you are doing!
I find over the past few years the menu choices have changed and the food quality as well! The basket of bannock served is shameful. The scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was disappointing as was the cinnamon bun. Mediocre for an Oliver & Bonnacinni restaurant.
It was really good food but service was incredibly slow. They came back to our table twice to inform us different dishes were no longer available and we ended up waiting over an hour for our dishes to begin arriving.
We visited from the USA and was in Niagara Falls and came to Toronto for a day and wanted to eat somewhere and experience Canadian culture. Yelp recommended this place. It was very good. The waitress was very good. The food was amazing.
Bannock offers many options for a variety of tastes and preferences, all providing a taste of Canada. Food taste is usually pretty consistent, and there's a good variety of drink options. Service can sometimes be hit or miss, but usually pretty good. It's a neat place to bring visitors and show them what culinary offerings are available coast to coast.
Good food. Try the Nanaimo Bars for dessert!!
The food was quite good, but the service needs improvement. When I arrived, I had to wait to be seated, as no-one was at the greeting area (I was the only customer). When I was brought to my table, I chatted with my server briefly, who seemed lovely. My husband was running late, and we were going to the show, so I ordered drinks for both of us, as well as an appetizer so that we weren't kept waiting. Appetizers arrived, but no plates were brought with the appetizer. We were only asked after most of it was eaten if we wanted plates. Our meals were brought next. I had the Lentil stew. No spoon was brought for me to eat my stew. I waited for several minutes to see the server again, but she never returned to our table. I saw her once talking with another patron across the restaurant, but still didn't look our way or come by to see how we were doing. I ate my stew with my fork. We were going to order dessert, but after another 20 minutes of waiting for the server to come back, we decided that ordering dessert would make us late for the show. When our server finally came back to our table, we asked for the bill so we wouldn't be late. I thought the food was good, the presentation was lovely, but the service was very poor. We won't go back.
Food was great, it was very nice. Easy to make a reservation.
Really like this place but for the first time, food was disappointing
Good to have dinner and talking with friends
It was great. A kids menu or portion sizes would have made it perfect.
Had the cheeseburger and turkey burgers. Tasty! Taroroot chips!
Best of all, our server was excellent!
There was quite a bit of construction going on outside of the building which did limit the light that could come into the restaurant so, for now, it was a bit dark. The food was very good (I had the Salmon) and the only thing that I would like would be that they have a bit more options for salads and soups. The sandwich and entree options were varied and our table enjoyed them - especially the burger. Overall I can definitely recommend it and will be going back again the next time I'm downtown Toronto.
Not the most exciting of the Oliver & Bonacini chain. Menu needs a change-up.
The food was delicious but they were out of a few things. Chicken pot pie and fish cakes were very good. The mgr was flexible with the prix fix options. Unfortunately the music was a little loud despite the mgr turning it down. Loved the half price wine wednesdays!!
In laws visiting Canada from Japan.
Very nice comforting food
I was late getting to the restaurant, and phoned to say so, and the staff was very accommodating. Food was solid, and well presented...wait staff were as friendly and relaxed as usual.
Pricing is a bit high, and the configuration tends to exacerbate the noise level.
Still one of my top 3 restaurants in Toronto!!!
Love this place. Always so chill.great food. Great prices. Love the Bannock box (best bread ever) and the new lentil chili on their menu is perfect for those cooler nights!
The service and good were great and noise level was perfect. A hard combo to find!!
We chose Bannock for the Kosher option, unfortunately, it was very limited.
I would say I appreciated getting a call in advance to advise that was the case. It would be nice if we could have made our order in advance to ensure that options were available.
Great Canadian comfort food! Took our US visitors for dinner. Loves the duck confit pouting pizza. Wait staff very friendly
Thank you for taking the time to review! We are glad to hear you and your guests enjoyed your visit.
Great food. Neat ambience. Reasonable prices. Will definitely go again.
Food and service were great. I'll come back. FYI there were some fruit flies around the table
I only booked a reservation at Bannock because it was close to the Elgin Theatre, but boy, am I glad I did! The staff was cheerful and really helpful. Food was delicious. My friend ordered the chicken pot pie and stated that it was the best she had ever had. I would definitely recommend Bannock.
I loved coming to Bannock; the blend of traditional Canadian home cooking, but with heightened accents to it. The duck poutine pizza was particularly creative and tasty.
Shout outs to the staff as well - all very knowledgeable and on point on the serving. There was never a time when I felt that our table wasn't being taken care of.
Great stuff, will recommend to friends.
Hello Bradley! Thank you for visiting the restaurant on August 23rd and for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review! We will be sure to share it with our team, they always appreciate the feedback. Please call 416-861-6996 should you like to make a reservation. We look forward to hosting you again soon.
Consistently outstanding. Have been to Bannock 3 times in 3 weeks and all exceptional. Applaud to servers. Attentive. Knowledgable.
Bannock is always a good choice.
The food and service was good, but I had made a reservation through Opentable, which didn't show up in their books. So my reunion with an old friend, whose significant other had a walker, was forced at the bar, where their barstools are a bit of a high, and tight fit.
Mac and cheese with ketchup chips stuck in it like little flowers. How playful. How delicious.
Lentil chili and tater tots . Fabulous.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup combo .... amazing.
A grilled cheese to die for. Just enough gooey and stingy cheese. A spear of dill pickle secured with a toothpick on the side of the sandwich made it elegant ..... but not.
Tomato soup. Best ever.
Love the Canadian comfort food ambiance. Relaxed. Great service.
Have been to Bannock pre theatre and after work and just 'cos I like it. And recommend it whenever I can.
...I have already recommended Bannock to a friend who is going on the weekend :-)
