We pride ourselves in the quality of the food we serve in our restaurant. Our Head Chef and his team source the most fresh and seasonal ingredients, creating twists on home-made classics from Chicken Liver Pate with Toasted Onion Brioche and a Cranberry Port Sauce to a Lemon Drizzle Cake with Creme Fraiche and Lemon Coulis. The restaurant also features various specials everyday.
The restaurant is the direct neighbour of the Old Vic Theatre and it is only two minutes walk from Waterloo Station. Many Old Vic customers join us post-theatre as the restaurant is so close to many transport connections.
The Waterloo Bar & Kitchen is located a short walk from Waterloo Railway Station.
This restaurant has closed down as I advised you last week - please remove it from your booking information and stop sending out automatic messages about it!!
This place has closed down!!
Very disappointing to have received booking confirmation and reminder emails only to arrive there to find it closed and boarded up!
We had a reservation for the Waterloo Bar & Kitchen for Monday evening before going to the Old Vic Theatre. The email confirmation arrived the day before. I found my friends standing in front of the closed and shuttered restaurant at 6pm. No sign of life. No apology from Open Table. And this website is still taking reservations for WB&K-- I just checked. Not good. Thankfully we managed to get the last table at La Barca and had a wonderful Italian meal. But I am not happy about this.
It has closed permanently, as your app should have known
This restaurant is closed. Booked for a birthday, turned up, spent £15 on a taxi to find somewhere else. Appalling.
The restaurant was closed when we arrived for our pre-theatre reservation. There was no explanation and we haven't received an update or an apology. Asking for a review in the circumstances is a bit rich!
Made booking through opentable but restaurant was closed! Looks permanent
The restaurant was CLOSED. You booked me in for a meal but when I arrived it was clear that it had been closed for days, if not weeks. Why do you book people into restaurants which have closed, don't you check? Not going to book through Open Table again.
This restaurant was closed - looks permanent. No notification.
Looking for somewhere quiet near Waterloo to catch up with a friend - and Waterloo B&K fits the bill. it's reliable, food is tasty enough. Not exciting or trendy - but that's not always what you need!
Food was very good and service was impeccable. Nice atmosphere.
Family has eaten here many times over the past few years - food and service always good. Last experience of a disappointing main dish was solved immediately by a replacement being promptly provided. Cannot really fault them on anything.
A party of eight of us came for a late lunch. It was pretty good, though we had to wait an age for our main course. We were the only table there too. Been going here a long time and this occasion wasn’t the best, but it won’t put me off.
It was disappointing- staff very slow - we had to wait around an hour for menus whilst they were being printed. My salt & pepper squid was very tough - mistake to order as a main & the gravalax starter did not come with toast or bread
recommended and lived up to it...I liked the food and the absence of music
This is "our local" for everyday dining. The staff are particularly good and helpful. Not the place for a "tete a tete" as it can get a bit noisy but great for a casual night out with friends. We have been visiting them for quite some time and will continue to do so!
Nice food, okay service though waiter was clearly trying hard, excellent food, slightly to our surprise as the place seems a bit basic, but at the end of the evening they put a bottle of wine and a glass of wine on our bill that we hadn't had! They immediately acknowledged both and scrambled to take them off but it was a slow evening, very few customers, no excuses for a mistake like that. Check your bill, people!
We had arrived a few minutes early, and from the first moment we got there the staff were delightful. Friendly, informative and we felt that she genuinely was enjoying her interaction with us. The food was fab, the wine recommended was perfect. 3 courses and a glass of Prosecco for £25 was great. We'll definitely be coming back.
Great waitress, service prompt and great food! Would definitely eat here again
A perfectly suitable pre-theatre dinner which is what was required.
Great location. Really nice ‘home cooked’ food. Unpretentious. Friendly informed service. Just a lovely place to be.
We had a very enjoyable evening; the £25.00 menu with a free glass of Prosecco was excellent value and delicious. As usual the service was very good. A very pleasant post matinee meal.
Lovely food - large variety of choices - good value for money.
Good choice of wines.
Just dropped in for a quick bite but the service was quick and food very good.
Very good food and a good service. Reasonable wine list and okay prices for London. Good location would recommend
Perfect for pre theatre meal at the Old Vic. Slightly muddled order but good overall service.
Been there many times. Always enjoyable.
Went again - fish was excellent and staff very helpful.
Very enjoyable meal, good food and service. It’s so convenient to the Old Vic, a great location for pre and post theatre dining.
I was totally delighted with all aspects of my meal - the service was excellent, the menu varied, the staff were a delight and the food was delicious. I will definitely return and highly recommend
A good selection of very nice food with lovely staff.
Excellent restaurant, qualité et sympathie du personnel !
Une très bonne adresse ! A ne pas manquer !
Stand out food. Best place in Waterloo for dinner - that area is covered with chain restaurants and this place is so much better and really tasty!
We enjoyed a delicious meal at Bar & Kitchen Waterloo which is just next door to the Old Vic--it couldn't be more convenient for a pre-theatre supper. I had a lovely artichoke/olive/tomato salad followed by some grilled cod which was excellent. Service is always quick and efficient. My friends had never been there and really liked their meal too. Highly recommended.
Casual dining, very good overall value, varied menu and attentive staff.
Have used this restaurant many times but this time 2 fish courses weee over cooked. We mentioned it but nothing was done or said. No gesture or apology made. We won’ be visiting again!
Was fine although took a long time to be able to grab someone to order dessert. Close by for the old vic thank goodness. Literally walked in to theatre, sat down and show started!
A great place for an enjoyable evening with friends. It works whether going to the theatre or not.
We needed somewhere near Waterloo, and this restaruant sounded fine for a meet-up with friends (where we could hear ourselves talk). It was just what we wanted and we were all impressed with the quality of the food. The thai spiced sea bass with coconut rice was superb! There were cocktails on special offer and I would recommend the one with gin, cranberry juice and lime.
Food was ok - not amazing. Lamb shank was dry but duck salad was tasty. Average bottle of wine was quite expensive. Service was poor - seemed disorganised, would bring food over and then we’d have to ask for cutlery, wine glasses. Staff weren’t rude just some didn’t seem interested. The restaurant was very quiet (although we were there midweek).
