Fantastic service. Professional and very attentive. Great food with very high quality.
Hard to navigate expensive wine list which is largely very expensive. Service was erratic and very slow after we rejected the first wine we were given to taste. Finally got winelist back but took quite awhile to be able to order. Food when it came was terrific. Amazing burgers and really good chips. Had to wait a little for the mayo which was offered. Not too noisy and very comfortable so I'd go back - I am not someone who normally orders burgers but really amazing.
It was simply perfect! I used to love Bar Boulud at Mandarin Oriental before the fire in the hotel, especially for Sunday brunches. Was a bit nervous whether this would be as good as then after renovation . And the experience was fantastic! Perfect oysters, delicious fois gra and very nice main courses: confit dick leg and still one of the best if not the best burger in the city! Favourite White Cosmo also remains unbeatable both in terms of taste and look!
Have been dining at Bar Boulud for many years. Terrible service this visit. After ordering, took over 1 hour between the start and the mains. A dish we have been ordering for years, was now served on the bone instead of filet, without warning. One of our party is gluten intolerant. In the past, they have alway brought her gluten free bread. This visit there was none. Desserts did not arrive at the same time, one arrived significantly later than the rest of the party. All made for a very long and tedious experience.
We enjoyed a dinner, although very close to the kitchen The food was very good. The staff were very pleasant. I would like to sit in the front room if I returned for another meal. We also loved the great Wine menu.
We were early for our reservation.
We had an additional person than what I reserved.
The entire restaurant was empty.
The staff should never say,
We’ll see if we can fit you in.
What? You don’t want another customer eating lunch on Sunday?
The staff should never say,
You can only sit at the bar
Even though the entire restaurant was empty
Even though we stated we would not order anything
Even though our bill came to £255 for lunch for 5 people on Sunday lunch.
Rules are there to be organised but not to handcuff.
Staff who couldn’t get their head around the fact that we’re early
We know we cannot order food
We just want to sit down at a table in a completely empty restaurant on a Sunday.
No! No! No!
How you reply to a request is more important than the actual answer!
How you phrase a reply should be memorised if you don’t know how to reply in a manner that the customer could feel special.
We don’t normally do this but just for you,
We’ll seat you early.
Instead of seating us 5 Chinese adults before noon,
The staff went ahead and seated a Caucasian couple who arrived before noon too.
They didn’t have to sit at the bar first!
After seating that couple,
Then the staff came to seat us.
If nothing else,
Once seating at the table was permitted,
We, who arrived first,
Should have been seated first!
Food was great but we were asked twice about food allergy - my husband has a severe allergy to nuts - and the first meal was brought with pistachios... a bit disappointing
We came on a Saturday evening and had the pre-theatre menu. Three courses and a coffee for £24. The most fantastic wine list ever but they were not able to serve the wine chilled. The service was very slow. I had Salade de Chevre Chaud with Goats cheese, Trout, Chocolat-chocolat tart and raspberry sorbet. Delicious food and they serve you plenty of bread. You will not be hungry after eating here! Nice ambience.
Everything exceptional staff service & food . Great choice snails to die for.
A very pleasant lunch experience in all respects. The only reason I do not award you full marks throughout is that I do not want you to become too complacent!
Great venue for catch up with friends and family - service was exceptional - great sommelier and an all round excellent experience - only message from one of our group
to boulud is to change the steak on the steak frites as was not a great cut but sinuous and chewy ! but the rest of our food was divine
Enjoyed our 3 - course pre theatre meal with coffee and tea. Good value. The soufflé is a sure winner.
Attentive waiting staff.
Amazing place. Loved having lunch there. Service is outstanding. Will definitely come back
Have been a regular patron of Bar Boulud and the beef burger they serve is out of this world. Just refuse to have burgers anywhere apart from here. Ambience is lovely and the service is impeccable. Highly recommended and looking forward to our next visit.
Bar Boulud is the best place in London! If you want to take someone for a special occasion, birthday or anything that need to be spot on, Bar Boulud is the answer!
We love coming here! Always great food and service ! They even made a spew jam little cake for my husbands birthday:)
This is one of my favourite restaurants at this kind of price point
Unfortunately my experience on this occasion was below their normal standards
As the restaurant was relatively quiet the room near the kitchen was not really open , we sat at the front area which was rather lacking in character
The set menu is normally exceptional value , I ordered the Pasta , a minute portion arrived it was probably suitable as a starter ...
I needed to order additional food as I was still hungry
I was credited with the £6 for some charcuterie,
I asked for the Chef to be told the portion size was unacceptable, my wife’s fish was a much better choice
All the food was good , but the evening could have gone better
This is a very good restaurant in an extremely expensive part of London with good food and a very pleasant ambiance. The bill was reasonable - all things considered. The staff were very attentive to the point of being a little too much, but the ambiance (for lunch) was delightfully calm.
Less interesting and slightly tired than it has been. Food still of really good standard.
The food was lovely but we felt left down by the overall experience. It didn’t feel “special” and the service was only ok. No complaints about the food though!
A firm favourite - reliable great food and service
Service was exceptional & food was lovely - very enjoyable meal.
The experience was amazing, thank you Hugo and Maurizio for doing our dinner memorable.
Visited this venue for a valentines day meal! This was absolutely lovely from start to finish. On arrival at the hotel you are greeted with a smile and someone kindly showed us all the way to the actual restaurant. The hotel is beautiful too! The restaurant staff are all so helpful and cannot do enough to help you. We were running a bit late and spoke to someone on the phone who was so nice and made sure we knew it was no problem to be a bit late which meant we didn't worry the whole journey there. The food was wonderful and the setting was great! Would definitely recommend this restaurant for people looking for something a bit special.
Set lunch menu very good value. Service professional and quality of food very good.
We had a lovely evening at Bar Boulud, very good service, answered all our questions politely, food was very good.
Food was really good, not much wow factor but cooked to perfection. Waiter was really kind and attentive. Would recommend anyone who enjoys classic french cuisine. Crab tartine was amazing.
As a former hospitality manager and retail professional I was disappointed with the level of service at such a highly regarded establishment.
I came in with my husband for a drink (or two) and a snack (frites) ahead of his birthday night out and was very upset with:
1. The lack of communication between service staff where a different person came to our table and offered to take our order over and over and over...
2. Where a room surrounded with mirrors not only provided service staff with a view of their tables but, with educated guests, a view of their servers commenting (and lamenting) in their choices, some restraint should be taken by staff. Regardless of what (or how much) a table spends should not determine the level of service or comfort they should experience.
We often visit restaurants for drinks and an appetizer to gain insite on whether a restaurant is worth the “hype” and unfortunately we don’t plan on visiting again, unless a visit to the bar is as far as we go.
Also- as a vegetarian, there was nothing on the menu, nor one mention for veggie options, for me. I never expect it, though with the extensive “service” we received i would think it’d be offered if not mentioned.
Really nice relaxed spot with great food and friendly attentive but not pushy service - keep coming back
Me and my boyfriend came here for his 30th birthday. The restaurant is lovely, really open but intimate at the same time. As we were seated they wished my boyfriend a happy birthday straight away which I thought was very sweet! When we first arrived we were sat on a table for two and when the couple next to us moved, we asked to sit there as it had a corner seat, they were extremely accommodating for our request to swap seats. The service was great - food and wine recommendations, topping up drinks when they were looking low. Also for his birthday they offered a complimentary dessert with Happy Birthday written on the plate too. Overall we had a lovely time, I have already recommended to several of my friends and would 100% go back there with friends/family for a perfect experience.
We had a fabulous lunch at Bar Boulud, having set them a number of competing dietary requirements. However, we were all able to choose from the very reasonably priced set menu. The service was attentive and efficient and we all enjoyed our various choices. Have already recommended Bar Boulud to other friends and we will definitely be back.
was a really nice experience.
Great staff and nice food.
Good burgers and onion soup. Very attentive and friendly service.
The restaurant had been closed for renovation but really, nothing had changed. It looks like a tired 2nd class hotel restaurant. Very disappointing. The food was good, but not outstanding - and my husband’s steak was tough. The staff seemed pleasant and attentive.
Usually great. Sometimes poor. The steak should be amazing but is a bit of a lottery on the cuisine.
Excellent food and excellent service. The staff were attentive from the minute you walk in and were unobtrusive but observant throughout the service. I am a fan of this venue and would never hesitate in recommending it for fine dining. Thank you Bar Boulud.
Always the best but a shame my favourite dish is not on the menu
we had more expectations as we have been here some times before ...
We have been going for 5 years. Before the renovation the menu decreased in quality all of the sudden and today we went back for the first time after the renovation and we were very disappointed. Menu is short, food is bland... we won’t be going back soon.
Great atmosphere - service was slow and mixed
