As Spanish we have to say that the food was the worst ever. Never again. And sorry for the waiter because he was nice. That’s the only good thing there. And please, change the name for Pulpo a la Gallega ‘cause it doesn’t deserve that name.
Decent food but strange ambience.
Atmosphere here really let's this place down. You go downstairs into what seems to be the basement of an office, but rather than a cozy, dark room the place itself feels quite bright and sparsely decorated. We partly went hoping to hear upbeat and authentic Spanish music but were disappointed that it was instead hard rock. At one point this was turned so high with shreaking guitar riffs that we could not continue our conversation. At this point we complained to a waiter, only to be told that this was their play list and they are not changing it (ok, then we won't be back!) but he did turn it down.
It is a shame that these ambience points overshadowed the overall nice food. Tortilla, padrón peppers and churros were excellent. Other dishes were good too (an aubergine stew was however a bit too salty and oily) and the menu is vast, and suitable for veggies. The house red is also decent.
Alll good, nice food and service
A lovely meal with family at this hidden gem in the City. In the run up to Christmas, it was busy but the food was as tasty and authentic as always (3rd visit). In particular, the tortilla and the paella were praised by all.
The food is great. We ate a little early so the restaurant was very quiet.
Wonderful evening great value for money very authentic
Great meal. Would recommend and return next time in area.
Terrible service. Had to ask to order more than once and both times the waiter was eating food himself while I was a paying customer starving!
Great food and excellent service
Upon arrival there is a full flight of stairs to get in so not suitable if you cannot climb stairs. A pretty dark ambience in the seating area with a lot of background noise. The food was good and service friendly so no complaints there. I'd recommend getting around 4 tapas dishes each and then sharing them all with the group as they are quite small.
Not even open, why do opentable still take bookings??
The restaurant is closed suggest you delete it from your website
It’s closed down! You need to update your data - not happy as was embarrassing when I asked a client to meet me there
It was very quiet when we went and the table we were shown to was away from everything. Whilst this meant it wasn't very noisy it did mean that we had to wait a number of times for drinks and the bill.
Empty restaurant should have been enough warning about food quality.
Less than average food. One dish was inedible as too salty. Staff were good though and didn’t quibble and offered a replacement- we opted for coffee instead.
Discovered this through Open Table reviews. A five minute walk from the office. Got let down by a tapas place on Lombard St which messed up on the booking but now really glad that happened. Would definitely make a trip at the weekend from West London with the family as we’ve been looking for an authentic tapas place since the one we used to go to near home closed. Very friendly father and son team as front of house and sommelier.Great menu and some excellent wines on the list.
Excellent tapas. I feel hungry every time I think of the food there!
Office Christmas lunch. Slow service, dull atmosphere, although this was late afternoon. Bill overcharged with several spurious items appearing. This is a regular issue when dining here. In fairness bill corrected without quibble. Food OK but never as good as when Barcelona's first started.
Waitress was clueless, the portions very small, the beer I wanted from the menu they hadn't heard of and didn't have! the Jamon Serrano tasted and looked as if it had matured no more than a week! Croquettes tiny. Exptremely poor value for money.
Really good authentic Spanish food in the city. Ingredients felt fresh with decent wine by the glass. A couple of minor service issues ordered small glass of wine, got a large glass of wine. Over attentive in places taking plates a bit eagerly but on the whole good. Note that it's a basement restaurant not a ground floor restaurant so not suitable for disabled. I'm on crutches and found the staircase very steep and a struggle. Fantastic mosaic art reminded me of happier times in Barcelona. Would definitely recommend.
Always very good service, an extensive menu and the food is always extremely good.
Great for lighter lunches if you do not want anything too heavy and the service is very efficient.
Definitely recommend.
very enjoyable meal. quality of the food is high and service was good. value of food is good and the wine was nice. good menu with plenty of choice. will definitely recommend to friends
The Samfaina was a let down - very reminiscent of baby food but the remaining dishes were very nice.
Amazing food, very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, great service. We are definitely coming back!
The food was delicious, the service was fantastic and the price was great.
Been here before and food was excellent again. Good and friendly service
Good, if not outstanding Spanish restaurant. The food was fresh and generally well prepared - dishes came quickly and were reasonably good value for money but this was sort of basic tapas done quite well as opposed to anything more. That said, this was preferable to fancy tapas done badly. My main gripe was that the service made us feel like it was more of a transaction than we were being looked after. A minimal greeting on entry, rushed ordering, polite delivery of food and then no-one said goodbye afterwards. They may be small things but to have done things properly would have taken thirty seconds of a 6+ strong waiting staff, hardly something to have thrown everyone's timings out even if multiplied across 20-odd tables. Would I go back? yes. Is this a taste of Spain? Hmmm.....
My guest and I arrived at 12.30 and we were served very efficiently. The food arrived and it was really good. However, after 1pm the restaurant filled and up the staff were overwhelmed. Drinks were forgotten and the bill took ages! Such a shame but ultimately they made me late for my meeting
Had a lovely evening here. Food and service were really good. Was just a little quiet and empty when we dined between 7:30-9:30 on a Friday, which surprised us so there wasn't much of a buzz ...but it did mean we could talk easily :) Good for a girly catch up!
Good food. great meatballs! Slow service. would go back
Great tapas & excellent service, nice ambiance & music isn't too loud so you can hear yourself speak
Unhurried meal with 3 work colleagues. Service was attentive but not overly so. Food arrived quickly and was good but the squid could have done with a bit more cooking. Bill was £40 per person including tip, and included 2 or 3 drinks each and about 12 tapas dishes.
Staff were friendly as always and food was to a good standard. They even offered to give us the paella we couldn't finish as take away, which we did.
Best tapas in the City. A regular venue which never disappoints.
I think it was ok but service wasn't great and very quiet. There was one table of other people but they were so loud sometimes we couldn't hear each other speak - although appreciate that isn't restaurants fault
We had a very pleasant business lunch. The food, service and atmosphere was very pleasant.
We arrived to the smell of fresh paint which was very disappointing as there was no mention of refurbishment on the website. I queried with the Manager and he advised that they were just finishing from decorating over the weekend but the smell of paint was very noticeable and I found off putting. I know they need to decorate but please not as evening service was beginning.
However the food was good and service was OK for our party of 8. We had the standard Tapas Tasting Menu which was plentiful and tasty.
There were not many tables occupied in the restaurant on that night so not overly buzzing but overall we all enjoyed.
The food was ok but quite greasy. We ordered calamares but it was mostly batter and no fish. The patatas bravas were good as were the meats. The restaurant is located in financial district so don't expect a party atmosphere at the weekend
Good menu variation - excellent wines!
Good food, great service and on tastecard which was awesome. Booked online an hour before turning up - perfect lunch!
