A great place to host a party. Fantastic food, wonderful ambiance and attentive staff. It’s almost always packed, so be prepared to sometimes wait a while for your food.
Wonderful food, friendly service
Very pleased. Was not made to rush to order even though one of my friends was late. Only reason I did not give a 5 star for food was that I am used to no salt so I found it a bit salty for my taste. Everyone from my group loved their food
Great service!! Food was exceptional and so flavourful. Had the blackened haddock and spouse had salmon 💋
Our go-to night out for apps and drinks. Great food, great service. Will certainly be back!
I always enjoy the casual elegance of Barnsteiners!
My wife Deb and I attend there all the time and love it. I was in the restaurant earlier in the day when they had a very unfortunate incident when someone drove into the back of the restaurant. The staff handled the situation so professionally and the care and attention of Michelle and her team was truly outstanding. I highly recommend Barnsteiner’s.
The food and service was very good. The seating is a bit cramped and I would prefer not to sit so high. The noise level is high.
Had a really great experience. So happy we came! Service was lovely, food was nice and we will definitely be back!
Consistent and reasonably priced. Good service. A perfect fit for the neighborhood.
Four of us were there to celebrate a birthday.
Ambiance was fun and lively.
Our waiter was very good and accommodating.
Our meals were good overall but the Brussels sprouts were overcooked, a bit mushy and a little burnt. We ordered the rack of lamb and the steak frites. Rack of lamb was cooked medium rare as requested but could have been more seared on the outside. The sauce was a bit sweet for me but the birthday girl enjoyed it. Both steaks were cooked perfectly and delicious.
Would definitely return!
We went for our anniversary . The waiter seemed more preoccupied at a large table than looking after us. Ordering dessert and coffees we had our coffee and the dessert didn’t show up until having to wave down our waiter . The food came out barely warm .
I have been there a few times before and was looking forward to a good meal .. what a disappointment...
Our favorite restaurant in Toronto, food is excellent, whatever you choose, specials are amazing. Service is impecable, atmosphere great and value for your money
Back in 3 days!
The food was delicious! The atmosphere is lovely. The service was a little slow but on the other hand we certainly didn’t feel rushed. Would definitely one for another get together.
Always count on the food being great, but felt rushed by the service.
Another lovely dinner at one of our best local restaurants. A varied menu and great service, in a pleasant atmosphere.
The food was amazing and the staff were very attentive and friendly throughout.
Food was great, service good.
Only negative was tables for two that were offered to us were small and in poor locations - either right by the entry door or jammed into a small hallway space in the back which was too tight to other tables.
On the 3rd try got relocated to a better table near the kitchen.
Outstanding food and service as always! Whenever we are back in Toronto, we make a point of going to Barnsteiners.
Good is great here. Everyone enjoyed their food - and the deserts ticked all my family’s boxes! Service was professional but a bit patchy and inconsistent. Given It was a busy Fri night but still...
It was a lovely dinner. Food and menu selections wonderful.
Six of us went for a birthday celebration lunch on Oct.17. Our table was perfectly located. Service was friendly and unrushed. Excellent menu choices meant there was something for everyone to enjoy. Good value for a restaurant with such a welcoming upmarket vibe. We all plan a return visit!
Very nice atmosphere, quiet, low but adequate lighting. Food was incredible for a great price, service was fantastic. Was not very loud or busy.
Good food, very tasty, nicely plated. Extremely loud. Waiter did not stop by to ask if the food was ok, or if we needed anything. A hostess(?) stopped by briefly to say hello.
Great dinner with friends. Friendly greeting by staff and wait team and wonderful service. Delicious dinner and good atmosphere for amicable conversation. A favourite spot and one we will visit again soon.
Birthday, we were told by friend of ours that Barnsteiner’s serves duck. However duck was not on the menu
on our visit, so we were disappointed. However, food was good, service as well.
We’ll call ahead next time and hopefully duck will be back on the menu.
On my first visit (four of us), for Saturday brunch, our initial waiter was not attentive and not congenial. But, management and a new waiter turned our experience around and we then enjoyed good service and surprisingly good food. On this second visit, about ten days later, with an elderly friend, we were speedily looked after and each of us enjoyed our lunch of fish and chips. I would like to return to try other dishes.
We left hungry! I ordered the seafood platter for two and was SHOCKED with how little of food it came with for being 29$/person! we asked our server if it was enough for two people before we ordered and he said yes... then when we complained and he offered to bring us a plate of scallops (we didn’t know he’d be charging an extra 30$ for this). It was tasty but we left hungry because the portion for this was extremely small. Would not order again.
Good food, but the salmon smelled quite fishy and there was some grit in the seafood pasta from the shellfish.
We ate on the patio facing Yonge so it was a bit noisy.
Lots of variety on menu and large portion.
Very good value.
As usual, food, service and atmosphere was decent.
Delicious food! Always look forward to their soup of the day. Great seasonal desserts.
Always reliable this neighborhood restaurant choice precisely what we needed: calm and well made European food.
A neighbourhood gem. Super friendly staff. A little backed up in the kitchen but super food and great flavours. Seafood is to die for.
Our first time at this restaurant - a busy Saturday evening, but we got a last-minute table for two on the covered terrace (much quieter than inside) - great menu and very professional and friendly server - we shared a charcuterie board (excellent) - one of us ordered the seafood pasta dish from the regular menu (they’d sold out of a number of items by this time - 8:45 pm) and the other ordered the Wiener schnitzel - both entrees very nice - we will return to this place, which has a nice neighborhood restaurant vibe and a varied and well-priced menu
The time between the starter and main course was incredibly long, easily 30-40 minutes. We actually had to ask our waiter what the problem was, how much longer it would be. I've never encountered this before. We'd brought friends and thought when the main course was brought to us it was hot and delicious I'm not sure my friends will want to return.
Good atmosphere. And good food. Waiter was attentive.
Another excellent meal at a neighhood favourite of ours. Would recommend for most occasions, in fact we are taking friends there tonight. Salads were excellent ( large enough to split) and the duck confit and lobster risotto were both worth going back for. Upon entry, the room to the left is quieter than the main part of the restaurant.
