Dropped in on way home on a Thursday at 2230 for a beer and liked it so much we stayed until 2400. Good atmosphere and range of craft beers and lagers. I am not sure about the current craze for craft everything but the excellent staff helped us find a drinkable lager. Had a pair of quite mad DJs who played good chill and house music (and I am 64 years old) not too loud and certainly not intrusive. The DJs did not speak over pa but they were entertaining enough just watching them.
Looks a bit odd from the outside but well worth a walk in and a beer.
Really enjoyed our first visit helpful service from happy staff, excellent tasty imaginative food at the right temperature, very interesting wine list. Will certainly go again
Great Sunday lunch in a relaxed and friendly venue. Food was excellent, especially the beef. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
Love this place. Delicious brunch while I was on holiday. I will return when back in London for sure.
Food was not particularly tasty, portions where ridiculously small for the price paid.
Nice ambience, but probably we had bad luck. More than enough staff, but service was poor and food so so.
Great atmoshere, very good food, excellent service.
Tried the Sunday roast with friends. A tasty plate of food but not much of it. It's not a cheap option either so we were disappointed to leave hungry. Service and ambience very good though.
Very good food at good prices. The service was attentive, fast and nice. Recommend for an brunch in east london
A must! Best brunch in East London.
Staff super friendly and so nice with kids.
We went for a birthday supper but found it was a special Pinot Noir wine evening - what a lovely surprise - the wine was excellent, the quantities more than generous, the commentary interesting, entertaining, and helping us engage with the wine, and the accompanying food superb and complementing the wine perfectly. The service was attentive and very pleasant.
Brunch stopping at 12.30 on a Sunday is way too early and we were disappointed
Lovely food, knowledgable & attentive waiting staff and innovative well made cocktails. Great for a catch up with the girls, or to impress a date. Thumbs up.
Lovely surroundings and a great buzz. Service was very attentive and servers were charming. Food wasn't bad - it was only Sunday lunch, but the beef was a proper workout and wasn't all that tasty. I'd return, but not for the beef.
I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Beagal. Nothing was too difficult for the staff, the food was amazing - I left feeling uncomfortably full as I couldn't bear to leave anything on my plate. I would absolutely suggest the venue for food and/or drinks
Lovely food but really, really terrible service. We waited 30 mins for a bottle of wine!
Great food and ambiance, service was bit slow to start with sat for 15 mins before took our drinks order. Got better with good recommendations on Menu and were accommodating my fussy no diary friend!
We keep walking past this restaurant and it's always full, so we had to try it, at last. No regrets - it was a wonderful experience, great food and friendly staff.
This is usually a lively venue but it was half full when we went, showing that it is not invariably so, but the food and service were good and the wine (cheapest red on the list) was excellent. Thus, it was a very pleasant evening with good food and good booze but a trifle quiet.
Situated under the railway arches, the venue us probably the prettiest restaurant in hoxton. However the food was nothing special.
Lovely spot for brunch - relaxed, great service, delicious food!
I like it here. The oysters were particularly creamy and excellent. Will come back for sure, it's quite local to me in Hackney Central.
Every time we have been here, we've been extremely lucky to have an unbelievable waiter. We love going just to have him, he will tell you about every part of the menu and make you want to buy the whole list. Also letting us try different part from the menu also helps. The food has always been to a great standard each time also. Plus it's right next to our home, so this is this best find on our doorstep.
This was my second visit to Beagle - the second visit couldn't have been more different to my first which was a year ago and a very enjoyable hence the return. Our table was originally booked for 7pm, I phoned the restaurant in the afternoon to add one more person to the table, I was told this could only be accommodated at 6.30 as they would be far too busy later on. We arrived to a restaurant and bar completely empty apart from staff - the next diners didn't arrive until 7.30 so there was no atmosphere at all apart from the gaiety provided by our table. The music in the bar was not piped through to the dining room, the atmosphere was non existent. The waiter told us he was on his second day in the job and he needed supervision and training. The head waiter and our waiter were seen by 3 people at my table and by people at another table sniggering and talking behind their hands about a guest at my table. Very unprofessional and upsetting. In all of my years dining at restaurants around the world this is the first time I have ever deducted the tip from the bill.
Great night, great service amazing food. Our food was a tad bit late so we were given complimentary bread and olives. Which was a nice touch.
Absolutely top quality food, and fantastic ambiance in a great part of London. Drink and wine selection was massive, and staff were gorgeous. Told us about some possible wine evenings coming up, so definitely will be back!
Lovely venue, nice food, outside area and good ambience - had the field mushrooms and fried egg for brunch and was very filling!
We visited Beagle with my foodie aunt and uncle for a catch up over dinner. The oysters were creamy and unusual with a punchy elderflower cordial that went surprisingly well with the oyster flavours. The devilled crab was lacking in spice, but the smoked mackrel and beetroot was melt-in-the-mouth gorgeous. For our main courses, we had the pork belly, lamb, bavette of beef and the pigeon. All were delicious (we insisted on trying each other's food for comparison) and my favourite was definitely the pigeon. The Malbec was a great accompaniment to the food. Special mention to the manager (the owner?) who dealt with our requests with humour and good grace - and even procured a dish that had run out. Overall the food and service was excellent, and we will definitely return.
Overall, we had a good evening at the Beagle. The customer service is fantastic and couldn't be faulted, bar service was quick and they gave us plenty of time to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed or pressured to leave. The whole feel and ambience of the bar and restaurant is great and has a really nice feel to it. Is also really handy to have the station so close.
However, the food and drink are nothing to rave about. London is full of good standard restaurants in nice locations and I wouldn't count the Beagle in that bracket. Cocktails are reasonably priced at around £9 each but none were particularly enjoyable (we had around 7/8 from the menu), there is a good selection of beers, ales etc. The food was the real disappointment, we had a starter of olives and bread which was nice enough but our mains lacked both quantity or quality. My partner had the bavette which had a minimal amount of meat on top of what was largely a sludge of veg. I had a whole crab, which appeared to have had the body hollowed prior to coming to the table so had barely anything inside. We opted not to have desert. On a plus note the wine we had was great! The taste of either dish was nothing special.
Overall, for circa £80 for dinner and around £100 on drinks (before and after) there are much better places to go in the capital. Would recommend for a pint but not for much else.
Came for dinner with my parents for my birthday - great restaurant. Sat outside which was lovely, and the food and service was great.
Great night friendly edge tent service really great food will go back and have sung praised to all my friends
Always lovely to visit Beagle. Such a relaxed atmosphere.
Great cocktails, wine and food.
My friends and I wanted to have a quick lunch on Saturday so we decided to try Beagle out. However, despite having very little diners on that day, all of us waited for our coffees (approx. 15-20 minutes) and our meals for quite a while. While our waitress was polite, there was no acknowledgement that we had waited for a decent amount of time for even coffee. Also, the brunch/lunch menu on Saturday had very limited choices (didn't contain much meat selections) which made it average value for the food that we received.
The ambience of Beagle was great. We were able to sit outside on a beautiful summer's evening and the service was good. They also have a pretty decent wine selection. Unfortunately the food really let this place down, which I was surprised about since I had read good things about their regularly changing menu. Both our starters and mains fell far short of what I had expected. Maybe the chef was having an off night, who knows. It was also incredibly expensive for what I would consider extremely average food. I wouldn't return.
Food was very good and service was friendly.
Limited and disappointing choice of foods. Good atmosphere and service, would reccomend for drinks.
Great food and service!!
We really enjoyed, celebrating our friend's birthday
Amazing cocktails and really nice vibe. If you have the opportunity to eat in their terrace it is fabulous.
I took my sister here as a birthday treat. Sadly I was a bit disappointed. The food was good but the service and lack of communication was frustrating. There was a 1 hour wait for main courses but we were only updated once about where they were. The waiting staff were a bit aloof but friendly enough. I had to ask for a discount on the meal despite a very long wait for main course. Just average overall really.
Honestly, it is one of the best brunch in London. The food is high quality, the place is extremely well designed (mix between rock and iron) and the service is perfect.
I went there with friends and we had a really nice time for our brunch !
Will with no doubt go there again !
