Lobstermania seafood platter was delicious and a great sharing dish for two. The standard of food at Belgos has remained consistent for many years and the vibe is still casual with a lot of character.
Very disappointed. I feel they are living off their reputation and it’s all gone downhill. Staff are doing a job not for the love of it. They wouldn’t upgrade our chips, even though we said we would pay the difference, they don’t do that you have to order extra portions for cheesy chips etc. Most of our party had burgers, chicken one was ok but meat ones were dry, my roast chicken was lovely. The plates looked empty as no side salad/garnish on side (had to pay extra for this). Never offered condiments when food came and had to go and ask as the 4 staff members were to busy gossiping and not interested in checking if everyone one was ok. Raved about this place to our party who hadn’t been there before as not been for a while and certainly won’t be going back.
Used to go to Belgo all the time, here and Chalk Farm....then a few years passed us by, and recently found ourselves after a reliable place to get a meal with some out of town friends, sadly Hawksmoor couldnt accomodate us. Dont know whats happened to Belgo but it was no longer a place with a bit of a wow factor, its now simply bang average. The food was just about ok, the moules frites unremarkable, my wifes meatballs were served with almost raw mash. Plus all of our and mains arrived going on a hike around the restaurant and then offered up to another table before making it to ours. I really hate when that happens. It all felt rushed and that they couldnt wait for us to get out....our poor table neighbours got their mains before even finishing starters. Staff seemed hurried & harried so early on a Saturday evening, I didnt see one of them smile once. Beer choices that used to be great are now a pretty usual selection nothing really that you cant find in a supermarket. Overall, our last visit to Belgo.
Enjoyed the attention and great recommendations by our waitress Diana - a lovely girl and truly customer-orientated person, she really made our usual catch-up dinner extra special.
Great energy and ambience in Blego Centraal. Interesting decor, top-notch service and the mussels were lovely. The only disappointment was the seafood pasta which lacked any favour. However, everything else made up for it.
I haven’t been to Belgo for some time - the mussels were as great as ever. I shan’t be going back as the noise level from the music was appalling, impossible for the four of us to have a conversation!
Overall solid. Think we picked well. Would go back and recommend.
Well received birthday surprise
We went to watch the world cup and the staff were really helpful and considerate. good food as usual
Ordered starter and main meals for all 3 of us, my main the first time came wrong as I've ordered Chicken Burger and they brought me Beef, the second time and after I've sent it back it was a pretty much raw and pink / very undercooked chicken, which is also dangerous to consume. In the end I ate only starter. Overall a very very bad experience, beware!!
Food variable but ok for what it was. Staff were very sweet and efficient. the covent garden branch is underground.
Booked a table for two families' get together. Requested space for a buggy so our table was in a corner where we could comfortably park the buggy. There was no lift here though so we had to carry the buggy downstairs. The food was fine and as expected. Will definitely visit again and recommend to others.
Great food, interior, vibes, and excellent cocktails! A must go restaurant!
50% off food made this unmissable
Moules with Kimchi was delightful and really flavoursome, writes perfect. Not many GF dishes though
Bring back the old days
Hadn't been to Belgo for a few years but had fond memories of tasty mussels and chips served by friendly guys dressed as monks. What a disappointment! The chips were passable but the mussels were over cooked and very salty. The service was on the edge of impolite and kinda disdainful. Yes I'm 20+ years older but I left knowing we wouldn't go back again. Simple things well done would have made us happy. At least the beer was good...
Standard Belgian food with good quality. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Reasonably priced and worthwhile. Can accommodate a large group as it is a big setup
Disappointing experience. Food mediocre, felt like we were being rushed out and eating too slowly. Not comfortable, very rushed, won’t be returning
A nightmare experience. From what used to be a solid establishment, the restaurant has taken a backwards step into one of poor quality and very poor service. There were four of us checked in for lunch. One starter Calamari which was acceptable. Three ordered King Prawns, what arrived can only be described as Prawns, nothing King about them, nothing larger than what comes out of a supermarket packet. Then the mains, One Filet steak, small and nothing to write home about. Three mussels, and being Belgo they should be nice and plump as has always been the case over the last 8-10 years, instead they were small, rubbery looking extremely overcooked and really only fit for the bin. The accompanying fries were also overcooked but not only that, they had the appearance of being cooked the day before and warmed up, they even snapped when broken in half. Fortunately these were replaced for freshly cooked ones, a vast difference. Then to cap it all, our waitress brought our second round of drinks, beers. She placed the first one down OK, but standing behind me she attempted to place down the second pint but without concentrating on her tray, she let slide the remaining two pints straight down my back. Everyone was apologetic but the damage had been done. Poor food, poor service led us to declare that we would never be back, after all those years, what has gone wrong? We said we wouldn't return but how many people have not said that but will not go back nevertheless. What a shame we have lost what was once a wonderful venue.
Service was very bad. We've asked to move to the quieter side of the restaurant but was given the response that "Its Central London, you can't expect to be quiet here".
It was an ok place, food was pretty good. Seats quite hard so if your looking for comfort then maybe not the place, just benches really. Tables very close to each other also, so that wasn't great. Initial service not good, first person got there slightly earlier, and wasn't offered an opportunity to buy a drink, the rest of the party didnt get there for 20 minutes. Was good to try and whilst I would say for people to go, we are not sure we would go back.
We love this restaurant and the fondue was great!
We always enjoy Belgo, very different from everywhere else. I don't like mussels but tried the mussels popcorn and loved it! Loved the beer flight as well but would have liked the beers to be labelled as we didn't know which was which after we'd ordered them. The bubble waffle dessert was delicious as well. We'll be back!
Had the worst dried roast chicken in my life. Worse than Tesco hot counter roast chicken and 3 times the price
The best mussels I ever had! Loved the decor and the service was amazing! Wish there were one in the States:)
We sat down for pre-theatre meal. Tasty selection of mussels as usual with wide selection of beers. Shame the venison burger was not available. Attentive service.
We have been to this restaurant several times before and the service has always been good.
It was a lunch meet up with a friend, with each of us ordering moules frites. They were fresh however not fully cooked as at least one piece of mussel was undercooked. The flavouring was nicely done though.
Birthday celebration- excellent in every way
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Belgo. The menu offered something for everyone and it was delicious! We enjoyed a good range of beers and the staff were friendly and helpful. A great restaurant with a cool vibe!
First of all, the food has nothing to do with Belgian cuisine. The menu was disappointing and the food was bad British... the tables were dirty and the noise level way up there... not an experience to have again, for sure. And I am Belgian :)
excellent service and delicious food
really enjoyed ourselves
would definely be back again
The food is nice, only thing I was gutted about is that the fish goujon starter had gone from the menu since last time I went there- and that was so good before!
Great service, good food and atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.
Delicious food and excellent service. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful, especially enjoyed the 24-shot paddle! Definitely will come back at some point.
We really enjoyed ourselves and a ready looking forward to r next visit
Great food, great atmosphere, great service! We were running late but staff helped out, even though place was really busy. Definitely recommend to visit ;)
Excellent place ! A bit messy the main entrance but as soon as the reception lady knew we had a booking we moved to the bar to get some beers. Excellent bar !
The food was superb, pot of mussels is the best choice, light and tasty, perfect to have space for an starter or dessert
Prices are fine for the quality and quantity of the portions.
Will come back for sure!
Prices had gone up tremendously since i came last, admittedly ~10yrs ago, however foodlevel, noteably meat quality was subpar, did not have the moules tho, so can't judge that. Still an entertaining place to visit, some foods looked fun. Far away from Belgian origin. Liked the beer however. Mixed experience
The venue is amazing! You do feel like you could be in a Belgian abby. The staff are friendly, courteous, and efficient. The food, especially the mussels, was delicious.
They have a wide selection of Belgian beers as well - a must if you are into a good beer!
