Disappointing experience. Food mediocre, felt like we were being rushed out and eating too slowly. Not comfortable, very rushed, won’t be returning
A nightmare experience. From what used to be a solid establishment, the restaurant has taken a backwards step into one of poor quality and very poor service. There were four of us checked in for lunch. One starter Calamari which was acceptable. Three ordered King Prawns, what arrived can only be described as Prawns, nothing King about them, nothing larger than what comes out of a supermarket packet. Then the mains, One Filet steak, small and nothing to write home about. Three mussels, and being Belgo they should be nice and plump as has always been the case over the last 8-10 years, instead they were small, rubbery looking extremely overcooked and really only fit for the bin. The accompanying fries were also overcooked but not only that, they had the appearance of being cooked the day before and warmed up, they even snapped when broken in half. Fortunately these were replaced for freshly cooked ones, a vast difference. Then to cap it all, our waitress brought our second round of drinks, beers. She placed the first one down OK, but standing behind me she attempted to place down the second pint but without concentrating on her tray, she let slide the remaining two pints straight down my back. Everyone was apologetic but the damage had been done. Poor food, poor service led us to declare that we would never be back, after all those years, what has gone wrong? We said we wouldn't return but how many people have not said that but will not go back nevertheless. What a shame we have lost what was once a wonderful venue.
Service was very bad. We've asked to move to the quieter side of the restaurant but was given the response that "Its Central London, you can't expect to be quiet here".
It was an ok place, food was pretty good. Seats quite hard so if your looking for comfort then maybe not the place, just benches really. Tables very close to each other also, so that wasn't great. Initial service not good, first person got there slightly earlier, and wasn't offered an opportunity to buy a drink, the rest of the party didnt get there for 20 minutes. Was good to try and whilst I would say for people to go, we are not sure we would go back.
We love this restaurant and the fondue was great!
We always enjoy Belgo, very different from everywhere else. I don't like mussels but tried the mussels popcorn and loved it! Loved the beer flight as well but would have liked the beers to be labelled as we didn't know which was which after we'd ordered them. The bubble waffle dessert was delicious as well. We'll be back!
Had the worst dried roast chicken in my life. Worse than Tesco hot counter roast chicken and 3 times the price
The best mussels I ever had! Loved the decor and the service was amazing! Wish there were one in the States:)
We sat down for pre-theatre meal. Tasty selection of mussels as usual with wide selection of beers. Shame the venison burger was not available. Attentive service.
We have been to this restaurant several times before and the service has always been good.
It was a lunch meet up with a friend, with each of us ordering moules frites. They were fresh however not fully cooked as at least one piece of mussel was undercooked. The flavouring was nicely done though.
Birthday celebration- excellent in every way
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Belgo. The menu offered something for everyone and it was delicious! We enjoyed a good range of beers and the staff were friendly and helpful. A great restaurant with a cool vibe!
First of all, the food has nothing to do with Belgian cuisine. The menu was disappointing and the food was bad British... the tables were dirty and the noise level way up there... not an experience to have again, for sure. And I am Belgian :)
excellent service and delicious food
really enjoyed ourselves
would definely be back again
The food is nice, only thing I was gutted about is that the fish goujon starter had gone from the menu since last time I went there- and that was so good before!
Great service, good food and atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.
Delicious food and excellent service. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful, especially enjoyed the 24-shot paddle! Definitely will come back at some point.
We really enjoyed ourselves and a ready looking forward to r next visit
Great food, great atmosphere, great service! We were running late but staff helped out, even though place was really busy. Definitely recommend to visit ;)
Excellent place ! A bit messy the main entrance but as soon as the reception lady knew we had a booking we moved to the bar to get some beers. Excellent bar !
The food was superb, pot of mussels is the best choice, light and tasty, perfect to have space for an starter or dessert
Prices are fine for the quality and quantity of the portions.
Will come back for sure!
Prices had gone up tremendously since i came last, admittedly ~10yrs ago, however foodlevel, noteably meat quality was subpar, did not have the moules tho, so can't judge that. Still an entertaining place to visit, some foods looked fun. Far away from Belgian origin. Liked the beer however. Mixed experience
The venue is amazing! You do feel like you could be in a Belgian abby. The staff are friendly, courteous, and efficient. The food, especially the mussels, was delicious.
They have a wide selection of Belgian beers as well - a must if you are into a good beer!
Tasty comfort food, really good beer, lively vibe but not too loud. Perfect for catching up with friends.
Belgo Centraal is always a fun place to go with good value & tasty mussels dishes, a huge choice of beers and a lively informal ambiance.
Always a good experience here, just felt that they needed more waiting staff on this occasion as it was a long time between requesting items such as butter for the bread we ordered and then additional cutlery! Great savoury waffles and beer spot on as ever!
Really good, helpful and efficient staff. Food served very quickly, good flavours and fanastic value for main+ vino or beer with the daytime deal. Shared toilets not great.
Food was very nice as usual, but overall it wasn't very good. The area where we had the table was very noise and the Music very loud and a bit crowds. whereas the other salon was completely the opposite (I could see when I went to the toilet). Despite the fact that our salon was pretty busy, they only had two waiters (but just one was working, the other was just pretending to work, walking around the tables and ignoring the customers) , instead it had 3 runners, it's nonsense for a saturday evening! I love the belgo's food but it's not the first time I'm very disappointed with the service, it has happened in my last three visits. I'm very upset with the service, so I'm really thinking to don't come back to centraal. I'll try another belgo of the chain
Had a group of us eat here and I haven't been here in a long time. It was a great meal. The service was a little bit slow coming back to the table but it was at peak time. Overall I would come again
Thoroughly enjoyable meal with great food! The personalised bottle of Vedett at the end was a wonderful touch.
I hadn’t been to Belgo for many years. The place has gone downhill. Stale and rancid smells are the first experience when entering. Not good. The place needs a good clean and refreshing from top to bottom. The chicken I had tasted stale and dry, as if it had been cooked the day before and warmed up. Had I not been with a large group of friends whom I had not seen for a long time, I would have sent it back.
Excellent food and services, warm and cosy ambience! Definitely recommend to frds !
Went here after a theatre visit and whilst it was very busy we were sat after a short wait, gave us time for a beer at the bar. Our server was brilliant, very informative and helpful. Recommend the King Prawn starter and the Kimchi Mussels. You get plenty of food for the price. The donuts and the chocolate mouse was excellent as well. A fantastic evening out.
Food v poor quality and service terrible
Great food and quick, friendly service. Lovely choice of beers too!
The service was top-notch --- only quibble was that the food took quite awhile to arrive.
The food is here is good and very generous so it's great value, but it's a huge cavernous basement so gets pretty loud. We were there on Saturday at 5pm so it wasn't yet full and even then service was a bit hit and miss. A great spot for a casual meal, and the beer selection is fantastic, but not ideal for anything fancy.
This is a loud and lively place but
Good for a group booking at short notice. The moule frites are fabulous and good value. The beer delicious.
It is not for a quiet date but great for a works dinner or party with friends
