An interesting concept to experience Belgian beer and cuisine in an industrial type setting. Very popular with a mainly young crowd
Had a great dinner at Belgo Centraal, the food was good and the service excellent. The place has a fun atmosphere and was packed on a Saturday night.
Lunchtime visit quite a few kids in but still really good food
Booked in advance for two for a birthday celebration and we were seated in the most cramped table I have ever experienced in a restaurant anywhere! The back of someone's chair was literally pushed right up against our table as we ate! The experience itself was incredibly rushed. The waiter asked for our order as soon as we sat, we asked for a few minutes to look at the menu and he was back again before I had even a chance to read the menu properly. Our food was delivered to the table 5 minutes after we ordered which was worrying and our plates were taken literally the moment I put my fork down. The food itself was mediocre. The sauce the mussels were served in was incredibly watery and lacked flavour, and the fries were barely warm. A mistake was also made on our order. We didn't want to stay for dessert or order another round of drinks. I have worked in busy high volume restaurants and understand the demands, but I can say firmly that this was a very disappointing experience.
Happy vibe and great beer selection. The mussels were fresh.
The food was very enjoyable, particularly the Beef Carbonade with Stoemp Mash. The service got off to a shaky start but improved substantially. With only 30 or so diners the restaurant was fairly quiet.
I was enjoying the meal so much I didn’t pay attention to my wife .. so I got in trouble 🤣
We have been to Belgo quite a few times and every time has been a success.
Good food, cozy environment and great staff.
This time, my husband had the Belgo Burger, I had the Popei Platter.
Both were delicious. Will definitely go again.
Service was efficient, helpful and friendly. Our waiter Simeone was always on hand but also left us plenty of time to relax; this wasn't the kind of place where they seemed to be trying to hurry you out of the door. The staff were great with my nine-year-old niece too.
Food was delicious - the moules and ribs were exactly what we wanted and the waffle at the end was a completely decadent treat.
Would absolutely go back.
It has been almost 25 years since I visited this place for the first time. Much has changed and not much has changed, but it is still worth a visit.
Having the Belgo cookbook in my cupboard for years I finally had the opportunity to visit. And wasn’t dissappointed.
Great evening meal before a show. Ribs were fantastic and was Belgium waffle.
For a mussel restaurant seemed strange they had no mussels! To be fair they did phone to tell us. But when we arrived they had no chicken either!! Not much else on the menu only burgers!!!
Our table was under a speaker so not ideal - we couldn’t hear each other. Waitress was very nice.
Sadly, there were neither any Mussels or Rotisserie chicken. We were called but only an hour or so before our booking therefore unable to find an alternative for eight of us!
So disappointed as I had recommended this place to my visiting family from Australia. Was extremely embarrassed.
Guess it’s just one of those things.
My wife and I love the mussels. Real Belgian fare served here. Excellent frites as well.
It's been over 15 years since I first visited Belga Centraal, then overwhelmed by the experience of the lift down to the vaulted restaurant, the atmosphere and superb steak frites. Sadly, Belgo has let its standards slip.
The food was okay, but low value for money for the quality of steak - the one thing Belgos should nail each and every time. The worst aspect was the service: we were early and were left waiting way beyond our reservation time for our table to be ready, only to find a near-empty restaurant. There was confusion amongst staff as to who was serving our table, items arrived to the table incomplete (how do you forget the frites from a steak/frites?) and arrived many minutes apart despite a modest table size of 5. Not slick, not professional, and certainly no wow factor any more: a real shame.
Lovely food, but the service on the night let them down (previously I've had great experiences though). I will go back and try it again soon I hope.
Good food, been a few times and never disappointed. Quite noisy due to group bookings and long tables, but service is very good and will definitely go again.
We were really disappointed- first of all they took other people to our table and then when we arrived - they had to remove the other diners! Then service was extremely slow - the waiters ignored our pleas to order/ pay etc as we were late for a show. The food was not as good as I remember. It was a bit of a disappointing experience.... luckily we made the show
Last time before Christmas, staff were great and in the festive spirit, good food as always, back in the new year
Great atmosphere food and value. Service was a bit hit and miss. Ordered everything together, starters were out at least 5 mins before drinks which was odd. The staff work extremely hard and it seemed more like there is a drinks department and a food department and they aren’t quite on the same page.
It took ten minutes to check in as no one could find our Open Table reservation. Staff were too boisterous as they chatted amongst themselves. We were there at 5.30pm as a pre-theatre dinner. There were few diners and, with over 40 empty tables all around us, a couple were seated right next to us. They were six inches away from us. Although we objected and so did the other couple it proved impossible to move them as the system had allocated that table. The food came suspiciously quickly; was it cooked from fresh? The restaurant has lost its way; what was an interestingly different decor 20 years ago, is now tired and uncomfortable. Its brutalist approach needs a re-think and a deep clean.
Daughters 10th Birthday
Helpful staff, delicious food, everyone had a great time.
After booking through OpenTable and arriving on time, we were told we were 30 mins late and our reservation had been cancelled, after being squeezed in after a short wait, the food, service and beer was excellent
HAD A GOOD NIGHT WOULD DEFINATELY RECCOMMEND TO FRIENDS
Can get a bit warm as main restaurant is in the basement. Good atmosphere, great casual dining and extensive beer menu.
Excellent mussels and good value for money.
Booked to have a meal here for my mums birthday, excellent service, lovely food and a friendly welcoming atmosphere would definitely recommend
Visited on a Tuesday night, the place wasn't too busy, but not empty. The service was very friendly, we didn't go for the standard seafood, but rather we asked the waitress for a recommendation. We decided on meatballs and slow cooked beef and a half pint of their beer. No complaints whatsoever. The food was very tasty, the beer was nice. Would come again.
One of my favourite places to eat great mussels, steins and superb service well.recommended
My first visit to Belgo for quite a while. All the usual Belgian foods are available, but I preferred the more sausage-centric menu of yesteryear. Huge array of beers which is very welcome. The chicken I ordered was very tasty, though to describe it as hot (spicy) seems somewhat misleading.
Great experience as always. Staff were fantastic and rolled with us on whatever we asked. I always visit this restaurant on every trip to London and have never been disappointed. Beer selection is amazing and the ability to sample with flights helps introduce new tastes. Nice selection of starters and main courses. Desserts are way too good to avoid.
Good food, good service, not too noisy and pretty good value, will visit again
Recommend the Convent Garden restaurant. Nice environment with a great variety of beers. Food is nice too.
Great selection of beers, food good if not delayed a little between starter and main. Server very apologetic. Beef Carbonade cooked to the point that meat had no substance at all, which was a shame as flavours were good. Didn't dampen a nice evening though, just room for improvement.
Terrific and consitently great food with a tremendous beer list!
We had a pre-theatre booking so the restaurant was quiet. Service was great from our waitress but food was not as good as previous visits.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food. The muscles never disappoint!
