You can’t go wrong with the food at Bella Luna. We usually order salmon and it’s always been grilled to perfection. Our waiter, Jorge, is very professional. We can usually ask for a different veggie than asparagus.
Good food! Kind staff
Pasta was all quite good, including the gluten free variety. Salmon was not so good. Didn’t taste so fresh, unfortunately. The restaurant was busy, but no one was waiting for a table. They were beyond gracious and didn’t bother us to leave, though we were there at least an hour after paying, catching up with people we rarely see. We really appreciated it and will be back.
A historically "good" restaurant that changed when it relocated. It is more expensive, more noisy, and not as good as it used to be. Typical for the Upper West Side.
Pasta Bella Luna off the charts. Other dishes looked good not great. Shrimp calamari and mussels over linguine.
For a Thursday evening the service was just so-so. We had to call the waiter over several times because he was busy with too many tables. The hostess had to jump in several times. The bus people kept trying to take plates before we were done, took silverware without replacing. It was a special bday and since we've been to BL many times, I guess they had an off night.
Always happy to dine at Bella Luna for the last 20+ years!
Lovely neighborhood place and has gluten free options
Always good neighbourhood Italian.
Fantastic food at great prices!
This is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. Comfortable; pretty setting; delicious fresh food; prompt and friendly service; good value.
Good neighborhood spot for traditional pastas, good pizza and decent drinks.
Good neighborhood restaurant. Food is good. It would be nice to have a bit more variety.
My friend and I had a delicious meal and had freedom to linger over our food. One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants for decades!
The food and the service were good, but we were a table of four, including two tall men, and we were put into a very remote corner table. The seating was very tight and ruined the ambiance of the restaurant.
Food and service were very good and enjoyed nice i rushed meal on a Saturday night
The pasta with sea food was delicious and they did not skimp on the seafood- especially the shrimp.
Great neighbourhood Italian- always consistent, good all round.
Très bon restaurant italien, aux prix abordables. Les plats de pâtes sont bien servis et savoureux, l’ambiance est reposante et calme (ce qui est appréciable à New-York !).
Food and service were excellent! My husband and I had the shrimp& pesto sauce with linguine which was amazing--huge portion, fresh pasta, grilled shrimp. Our friend had raviola which he was quite pleased with. We all had very ample and delicious salads. Shared tiramisu was also excellent!
Have been here numerous times. Staff always accommodates.
A great neighborhood restaurant- good food, ambiance and you always feel welcomed
always a delight. and a returned dinner on Sat nite for 4 of us.
Lovely lunch with friends at Bella Luna. Great food, wonderful service, comfy restaurant. We will be back!
As always, we had a great time. The weather was particularly nice and we got to sit outside. A reliable neighborhood place.
There are much better Italian restaurants on the UWS! Decided to book a table at this restaurant because it was a convenient location that could accommodate a group. To their credit, the restaurant was able to increase our reservation size from 7 to 10 people the day of the reservation. That was where the good service ended. When our friends arrived an hour early, they were told the bar was full (despite empty seats) and perhaps they would like to try a bar across the street instead. WHAT?!?! Who says this to customers who already have a dinner reservation? The server was minimally attentive, somewhat cold, and not at all welcoming throughout our entire meal. I ordered the eggplant which was very bland. The chicken and veal in 2 dishes was quite tender, though again not particularly flavorful. Pasta puttanesca was the best dish at the table, although strangely it came with several whole anchovies across the top, rather than sauteed and incorporated into the sauce, as is the usual preparation. Each of us felt that our meal was "OK" but "nothing special." Each of us felt this was a "do not return" restaurant when there are so many better options nearby.
Decent neighborhood option. Food is ok, there’s pleasant ambience, and the service could have been a little more friendly and helpful.
We love this place!!! The people working here always try to accommodate you with a cheerful attitude and welcoming stance. The hostesses are particularly wonderful. This is one of those neighborhood restaurants that I’m thankful is in my neighborhood!
Great egg plant Parmesan. Attentive waiter. Good noise level although the music was a tad loud. Always enjoy this neighborhood place.
Very nice neighborhood place for lunch or casual dinner.
Good salads, pasta and nice ambiance-inside or out...
The servers are accommodating to special needs and requests.
Bella Luna is a neighborhood gem! The food is always very good. The pricing is a very good value for a quality dining experience. The outdoor tables are wonderful in good weather. The inside decor is upscale and well maintained. The conversation is spirited. I need to note that during this recent dinner we had exceptional service! While we've never had a concern, the waiter who served us outside was unusually buttoned up and lovely.
We have dined here before and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately Friday nights’ experience was disappointing. Service was slow, so perhaps understaffed. My entree, a prosciutto and arugula pizza, was unusual with tomato sauce, But the bigger concern was a bite that contained a hard piece of bone, which has caused a strong tooth pain, still three days later. What was even more disappointing was the manager/hostess reaction, “oh I’ll show it to the chef”, followed by “it happens”. Note this was not a piece of cartilage or tendon from the prosciutto (which I have never come Across) it was a hard particle. No one ever came Back to the table regarding the incident. No acknowledgement whatsoever. There was another wait, for the check, and we left.
I don’t t know what concerns me more, the entree issue or the indifference of the staff.
This is an establish I have dined at before but. Or may not consider again, nor recommend.
My wife and me are from Italy so our expectation was high. Food is acceptale but not for the Italian standard.
Food was very plain, no flavor, and pasta nothing special.
great neighborhood Italian eatery. A most excellent experience.
Service excellent. Food good especially the mussels and branzini
This used to be a great neighborhood restaurant. But to keep the prices low, the food has declined in quality. The overall service is downright surly, except for the nice young lady who took our order. She was puzzled as to why we asked her not to clean away some plates until all of our party was finished, saying that's how she had been trained. They need a new training manual. We only go there when some out-of-town friends insist. They think it has a quirky charm. It used to...
It’s an Ok place, where you can go a decent price meal and a clear ambience. Service was a little slow but understandable but the food was fulfilling.
Our waitress was very nice and accommodating even after we paid and continued to sit at the table talking. Food was very good and reasonably priced.
