I have now been to Beni Shoga twice. The tasting menu (9 courses for £35 per head) is a great starting point for people who are unsure of what to order - I had this the first time I visited. The second time I ordered a la carte and was once again very impressed with the quantity and quality of food. The kimchi and pork gyoza were a particular highlight, as was the coconut ice cream mochi for dessert. There is a sushi menu which I didn't sample on this occasion.

I would recommend either of their cheap sakes for someone who (like me) is a sake novice. Their cocktail menu is tasty but pricey. The beer selection was pretty standard for an Asian fusion joint, and I didn't particularly look at the wine list so I can't comment on it.

Service was excellent on both occasions, although the second time I went it was a bit slow as we were at the far end of the room, away from the bar and kitchen. However, the complimentary lychee sake with dessert more than made up for it! I'm not sure if this happens every time but it's happened both times I've been in.

It's good value too - the second time I went the bill was about £35 per head including tip for three courses and drinks, although on that occasion we didn't go for the cocktails, which I think was the key.

I live in chelsea and my partner and i decided to go to beni shoga for dinner, the food was fabulous we especially loved the hot sushi rolls(tower bridge roll), the rock prawn tempura the salmon tacos, wagyu beef tataki with truffle oil and the bagel maki roll, for desert we had a scoop of delicious chocolate ice cream and a coconut mochi ball it was a bit sweet for me but my partner loved it! she said it was the best ice cream she had ever had! the Riesling wine was to my taste at a great price.
The service was excellent and the owner at the end of our meal gave us a sake on the house, great hospitality, great food, great atmosphere, great value and will be back soon... great job guys!

My wife and my first time at this restaurant.
Interesting blend of Japanese and Western décor, lovely art work and well presented menu with plenty of choice. We chose the 9 course sharing/tasting menu for £35 each. Excellent!
Surprisingly good wine list and at the end a pot of superb sake not listed on their main wine menu.
Overall a lovely dinner and friendly staff. Definitely worth a detour to eat here whenever we are in London.
Thank you Beni Shoga.

Something got burnt at the kitchen, so it smelled horrible across the floor. Service was average and this is despite it was just us and another couple. Definitely overpriced given location, ambience and quality of food. And they have to do something with the background music, loud and odd for dinners

1. Great food.
2. Service was very very attentive, but unfortunately food turnaround was slow.
3. Excellent selection of Sake's and authentic Japanese spirits. Creative cocktail menu.
4. Creative and interesting sushi varieties.
5. Relaxed and comfortable dining with very agreeable ambience
6. Would be amazing if incorporated more of the true Japanese izakaya concept.

Will definitely go back!

Toilets were not maintained. I had to wipe the surfaces down myself. Still felt bad going at all.

Go for the sashimi as sushi fish was of good standard. We were not impressed with the nigiri, wrong rice used (chewy) and in wrong proportions (too wide).

Drinks took too long at the start, however our young waitress was friendly and made the dinner pleasant.

The food is good, service is alright. The waitress could do with some professional hospitality training.

Simple exquisite Japanese food. We have been here on several occasion and every dish we have had has lived up to top quality Japanese/fusion dining. And, on our doorstep… A definite must. The food is served quickly (sometimes too quick so a word of advice is to order in stages).
