Casual dining. Good service and food was very good. Main course could have been a bit hotter but food taste very good. Gluten free food didn’t seem to be any problem for them. Would go again.

We really enjoyed our visit - just there for a lunch and a catchup so can't attest much to the bar section. Food was good and just the right amount. Best of all, the restaurant is dog friendly :)

Great atmosphere. Lively and relaxed on a Sunday for brunch, without being too loud. Decor is fun, and the menu is good with a good range of alternatives to suit different requirements. Food was tasty with something to suit all - full english breakfast alongside lighter options. Staff were friendly and helpful. will definitely return.

I booked through Opentable for a party of 8. 2 days before I get a call asking me to arrange for pre booking of meals as we are a party of 6 or more. Said OK and arranged for their form to be completed and they acknowledged receipt. When we got to the restaurant, they had no idea of the pre booking of meals and we had to go through it again so a waste of my time ahead of the reservation. Strange to insist on something and then not follow through? The young lady in charge did provide us with a 10% discount for the trouble though so that was dealt with. On the downside, we had to ask 3 times for additional water for the table plus we had to request a cooler for the expensive white wine which should come to the table automatically, they ran out of the red wine we ordered though did give us another at the same price. 2 guests asked for Espresso Martinis and we were told they were unavailable due to a lack of coffee - also a bit strange as they were serving coffees/expressos etc after meals at other tables. I usually order from this restaurant as I like their food, and will do so again, but I was underwhelmed by the general lack of attention regarding organisation/service.

We were there early in the evening so very quiet but staff moving furniture about was noisy! Food was ok though flimsy menus (bit of A4 paper) were a bit hard to decipher and got wet easily from condensation from drinks. Lighting rather odd. Ladies loos in poor state considering the quiet time between lunch and evening service would surely be a good time to check them and sort them out... Can't say I plan to go back. Shame.

First visit to BC and bit of a shame, I would have loved to have give it a higher score but the service really let the place down.
We booked online no problem and arrived with parking available & close to it. On arrival it was fairly quiet.. we was welcomed by an enthusiastic bar tender who checked the booking and sent us through to the restaurant type at the back.
Decor pretty trendy.. but did also notice that even though there was only a few tables in they were waiting ages to have their main course plates cleared and they ended up leaving before the server cleared. To put it into context we was waiting one hour till our starter arrived & the drinks we had to chase to get within that time.
I noted four members of staff and probably only five tables of customers so it’s a poor show if they can’t get plates cleared.
We were due to go the cinema after our dinner but we missed the showing because the service is just so slow!
Food on the upside is very yummy. Burgers tasty and loaded chips probably the best I’ve tasted that’s why it hurts to give a low score but unfortunately service is an embarrassment on BC if Friday night is to represent them and they need to look into extra training or stepping up a speed gear for certain members of the team. There was a female working and she seemed the only one to have forward thinking of calling mains away on courses where as a fella that was working just seemed like a rabbit in the headlights.
Drove past BC today and looked like they were busy, way more trade than Friday night..

It was our first time visiting Ben's Canteen, and we couldn't have had a better experience. The décor and theme of the place is awesome! Very retro and stylish, the food was fantastic, and very fairly priced. The service was good - could perhaps have been a touch more engaging/chatty but other than that the place was faultless... and they have an awesome soundtrack!

Thank you Ben's Canteen!

I came here for brunch with a friend and it was amazing! The buttermilk fried chicken on toast is delicious and something I'd highly recommend. We also had the grilled banana pancakes that were really good, but in my opinion, these were slightly too dry - a little extra sauce/mascarpone would have made them perfect. I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes

I've been there before for brunch and the food is really good. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back!

Came here for brunch on my birthday - the place itself is great, nice open space with comfy sofas and good ambience. The food itself was delicious and not too expensive. However, the service was really bad. Very slow bringing us drinks, got the food order wrong multiple times and were then slow to rectify (although they did take money off the bill for this) and it took a long time for our plates to be cleared. As we were having a leisurely brunch and were relaxed it didn't detract too much from the occasion, however, I would not recommend this place if you're looking for a speedy, efficient meal! Overall it's a lovely chilled place and with decent service would be 10/10.

Have been there a few times and decided to bring my boyfriend’s family as they came from Colombia to travel for a while. As soon as we arrived there was nobody there to take us to our table but it was fine because you could notice they were busier than they usually are. We sat down and soon we ordered our food (it took us at least 10 minutes to order because the waitress seemed not to know about anything on the menu), everything was lovely and delicious but when we finished they took pretty long to offer us the deserts. Patiently we waited until we saw the waitress who was serving us and asked her for the deserts we wanted. Well, we were in 7 but only 3 of us were having deserts, it took longer to get them than the main courses (around 20/30 minutes). Although everything was extremely good, hopefully next time the service will be a bit easier for us and for the staffs. Would still recommend it!

I want to love this place. It’s at the end of my road and I like the brand and the style of the place. There’s a couple of things that need ironing out and it could be great.

They’ve just introduced small plates so we went along to try them. Nice idea, but a lot of them are very deep fried. Some fresher and greener things in this menu would be appreciated. Also, with small tables and a lot of gumpf already on them, there wasn’t much space for our plates!

We booked on tastecard. The offer here is two for one. We ordered six dishes and expected to receive three free. Not only did I check on the tastecard app that everything on a la cart menu was included in the offer, I even checked that the card would be accepted before we ordered from the small plates menu. When the bill came they took two plates (out of six) off and point blank refused to take any more off. They need to either come off tastecard or be clearer about what they offer.

On top of this, as always, the service in this place is terrible. Please train your staff not to just hang around the bar chatting. We asked three times for water, had to ask for our food after half an hour and practically Mexican wave down our waiter whenever we wanted anything.

I follow Ben’s on instagram. There is clearly someone leading this brand who is thinking hard about the offering and pushing the marketing really hard. It’s just a shame that something is always missing in the delivery.

Visited Ben's yet again with my boyfriend and his cousin for a catch up. Great food, with a great offer on the burgers on a Tuesday night. Burgers were top notch, as were the drinks and the duck croquettes, although chips were a little soggy (which is unusual).
Will definitely be back again very very soon.

Food & drinks were delicious! We went for the 90 minutes bottomless option, and the only comment I would make is that service was a little slow for this - both trying to find someone to place order with and then waiting for the drink to arrive. Overall we had a really good experience though & enjoyed our brunch!

I visited Ben's Canteen for Sunday Brunch with a group of 8 - the pre-booking facility made it so easy for such a large group on usually busy Sundays. Apart from cold coffees (quick rectified) it was fab and the staff were brilliant. As a local, will of course be back!

Loved dining here and the breakfast/brunch menu was amazing with lots to offer. I am gluten free and it can make eating out tricky but not here. Only thing is it was a bit over priced, especially when the place opposite has almost the exact same menu for less money. Would still dine there though, and interested in trying the evening menu too

Went for the new Sunday roasts. They were tasty and had a good range on sides.

I wish this place would put a bit more time into training their staff. It’s almost impossible to get someone over to the table after you’re seated. They’re very nice when they do come over but it’s an exercise in frantic waving to order or get a drink.

I found the food quite expensive for what it was, and the menu very very limited (we went there for brunch).
The service was quite poor - we were sitting outside and had to chase the waiter for things everytime.
The quality of the food was nice but in my personal opinion lacked seasoning a lot (so did my friends).
The area and the overall set up was very nice though.

I went to Ben's Canteen with friends I see rarely as I had enjoyed my birthday there a few weeks ago. We waited for at least 15 minutes for the food/drinks menus...a small matter. What was so disappointing was that one table dominated the restaurant. They were clearly on some sort of 'bottomless brunch' offer. It was so noisy and impossible to converse with our friends. No attempt was made to ask these people to keep the noise down. We left without ordering desserts/coffees (we moved to another place for that) - as did other diners. I have met Ben and know he would not have tolerated this had he been there. Shame, as the food is really good. I would be reluctant to recommend Ben's now, which is also a shame as I've been singing its praises recently.
