Service was very slow. Had to chase the waiting staff for our side orders and drinks to then be told that the kitchen had ran out of chips.

Unfortunately would not recommend

Great venue, and great food. Child friendly during the day, and I’m sure it’s a great spot for the evening sans kids as well

Disappointed about the dinner menu not being available (it was only 2:30pm) but the burger was sublime!

I'd heard a lot about this place and it was fine but I was a bit underwhelmed.

Positives first - the staff were excellent - helpful, friendly, attentive.

The decor was nice and it had a nice vibe but the place was empty on a Friday evening - just one other couple the whole time we were there.

I found the food fairly mediocre (I had a veggie burger and fries, my partner had the chicken and coleslaw) and was pretty pricey for what it was.

Overall it's fine but overrated and pricey for what it is really. I wouldn't rush back for dinner. Would maybe try it for a brunch though.

First impression is a small tavern around the corner. As soon as you enter you could see the bar which is separated from a nicely arranged dinning area at the back. very chilled out, not overly expensive feel and comfy are the words come to mind about the place. yet best thing about Ben's Canteen is the service. I forgot to ask the waitress's name (rude of me) but she was outstanding. Very friendly , polite , helpful with the menu and attentive. we had duck croquets and nachos for starters both recommended by the waitress and ordered wine. Decent portions and it was happy hour so 2 for 1 on drinks as well. Didn't order any mains as we were attending another party afterwards ,so went for desert options.Doughnuts and brownie with ice cream, things to have. Thoroughly enjoyed the 3 1/2 to 4 hours we spent there .It was a monday evening so the place wasn't too busy. Few customers watching football at the bar but overall not too noisy or dull. It is definitely going in my little secret places list.If i have to pick anything bad it will be the rest room. Could have been a little more cleaner/fresher. Specially as they just opened the door for business. But its minor . some people might find my 5 star review a bit too much but hey it's all about how you feel when you come out off the place. Ben's canteen in my opinion is 5 star in that way.

The first visit was a dream, excellent service, food and ambience - great. After raving about this place to friends I decided to treat my Mother to a meal. Wednesday night is Ribs night and if you book online you receive 20% off the bill. We ordered Duck Nuggets for starters which after 20mins of waiting for our starter we told they had sold out of duck nuggets, so we reordered. 45mins later we were getting hungry and grumpy. When the starter came - Scotch Egg, all was forgiven - it was delicious. Then the Ribs arrived 30mins later...again hunger was kicking in and it was getting late. Ribs were fine, not half as delicious as my first visit though. They were moist before and this visit, a little dry. Finally we got the bill, I paid and we left - feeling a little frustrated i paid the 12.5% service when it was pretty poor. Then i realised they hadn't taken the 20% off the bill! I quickly went back and they refunded the difference.
I'm not sure I'd go back again after this visit because of the terrible service we had. I will however, try the Ben's Canteen in Battersea and see if the service is any better.

Booked a table for 4 for Brunch over the May Bank Holiday. Table was booked for 10.30am and we arrived at 10.35am. We were told that since we were 10mins late our table had been given away. On challenging this with the staff, we were told that a table was after all available. Made the whole experience really sour. Since when did 5mins turn to 10mins and even top restaurants allow a 15min grace period. So yeah, thank but no thanks. Wont be going back.

My boyfriend and i visited Ben's Canteen last week and we were both incredibly impressed with the food. We has two courses and a drink for £18. Even the house wine that came with the food was fantastic. I had the Roast Fillet of Cod served with slow cooked chorizo & chickpea stew with aioli and chimichurri and would recommend it to anyone. Lovely staff and lovely atmosphere.

We went early for brunch on Sunday (10:15) , before the mad rush and our food took about over 35min to arrive. When ordering drinks before that they took at least 15min to arrive (2 coffees and 2 teas) before the place was even full.

When asking the waiter about where our food is, he gave a half hearted answer saying its really busy with no apology.

Then to make it even worse, they automatically included a "Discretionary" service charge of 12.5% on the bill. It took so long trying to get the waiter's attention to pay we didnt even bother arguing about the service charge.

Eaten here before and service can be a bit hit and miss, but Saturday night was poor. Understaffed, forgot our drinks order, the food when it came was cold and had to be sent back and was missing side orders. They were terribly apologetic and discounted our bill, but disappointing nevertheless.

A lot of friends have been raving about this place. I went to try out the goods, see what was so special and was not dazzled. It is a Joe average burger at best. Nice ambiance and good service however, a friendly place. Just wished the burger lived up to the hype. Maybe I caught them on an off day?

We ate at Ben's Canteen on a busy Sunday afternoon with two kids.

The food was good but the service was a complete let down. They missed a drink off the drinks order and the service was really slow. A simple request to split a burger between two plates for two kids took almost ten minutes to turn around.

The food was different to the normal brunch offerings and delicious. The staff were friendly but you didn't really get that feeling of customer focussed dining,. That said we all had a lovely time and would go again. Only downside was the millions of kids that seem to descend on it but the staff can't help that.

Really frirndly, accommodating even on a busy Saturday night and we turned up an hour early - sat immediately in a spacious corner. Two courses and a drink deal was a real steal. The menu wasn't limited, so free to choose anything that took our fancy (all so tempting!). Beef cheek was melt in the mouth and a burger that really impressed the fussiest foodie! Good wine too, Pinot Noir was heaven in a glass. Cosy, not over crowded (brunch often busier) and really relaxing. Couldn't fault our night, will be going back VERY soon! Just kicking ourselves for not trying the peanut butter brownie..

The guacamole starter was great and excellent selection of gin cocktails and drinks. Menu was interesting with lots of healthy options and we went for cod and chicken Caesarsalad mains. Both tasted really bad unfortunately - execution just was not for us and perhaps we should have gone for the burger options, which we've had at Clapham branch and wet delicious. Fish was too undercooked and slimy and Caesar tasted so strongly of anchovies. Service was very nice and we were asked if our meals were OK and we did say 'just not for our taste'. Others with a 'healthier' pallit still might like these though. Fun and relaxed atmosphere as well.
