Great service and food. The restaurant accomodated without fuss, the fact that our group came at different times and more arrived than expected.
We popped in for mid afternoon brunch. It was easy to book a table online. Really nice food, which you could tell was freshly made/cooked. It was a little bit cold in there but it is December! I would definitely recommend Ben's Canteen
good food but poor service. waitress kept leaning over people and picking up their drinks to see if they were empty and then putting them back
Food was delicious! I had the chicken salad. Cocktails were lovely but a bit pricey. A little bit dark down the back for a lovely sunny day, but would be cosy at night.
Amazing pancakes, and great service.
The room was cold and the restaurant smelt of the the toilets/ drains.
I went due to the number of gluten free options, but they use the same frier so they aren't actually gluten free.
The burger was nice but I couldn't have chips.
The waiting staff didnt seem to want us to pay either - we had to ask twice to pay, and then they forgot one person.
My friend and I met up at Bens canteen with her toddler daughter and my 2 year old twin granddaughters. I couldn’t get the double buggy through the door and ended up removing my granddaughters and semi collapsing the buggy to get it through the doorway. No one offered to help. Once seated with a cup of tea we asked to see the childrens menu to be told they didn’t have one. As this was one of the reasons we chose Ben’s I was very surprised and looked online. Sure enough they had the children’s menu online. We queried with the server and he went away to ask and they agreed to make fishfingers and chips for the girls from the kids menu. The food was nice enough and reasonably priced.
Found the layout quite cluttered especially with other pushchairs there. Getting to the toilet wasn’t easy either.
No assistance again when I left. Luckily I had my friend to watch my granddaughters whilst I squeezed the pushchair through the door.
Would not be suitable for wheelchair users
Odd experience. Had eaten here for dinner some time ago which was good so booked for lunch for 4 people.
Food came out within minutes of ordering, no time between drinks and food meant our lunch was over in literally 25 minutes. Both waitresses seemed confused, one was particularly vacant when asking for a desert menu, then returned to say they had run out of desert, seemed a bit odd for 1255 on a Sunday. Headed elsewhere for drinks to continue our lunch date.
Such a shame as the food is really quite good, just an odd dining experience. Won’t be returning.
I want to like this place however it’s this is the second time I have been and I won’t be returning, the service isn’t great the staff do the bare minimum of taking orders and taking away plates not even asking if everything was okay, we had to go up to pay out bill on leaving as there was no one around to ask for it and it was about half full so it wasn’t busy. Food is disappointing it just didn’t taste great can’t put my finger on what it was. And to top it all off it is so expensive for what it is adding a 12.5% service charge for such basic service is really a kick in the teeth.
Great evening and lovely food. Staff were very helpful and attentive
The food was really disappointing - not only did it not taste nice with the toast burnt and the poached eggs over done but the portion size of the avocado on toast was the smallest compared to any other brunch place - the piece of toast was tiny and I had to request an extra egg otherwise it would have only come with one! Then on top of that, it didn’t even taste very nice.
The value for money is awful and the service was so unfriendly and forgetful.
Compared to the Earlsfield branch, this was a complete let down and I won’t be coming back or recommending it.
We went on Sunday for a brunch with the girls and sadly the food didn’t hit the spot. The dishes were over priced, the eggs came out cold, the feta very tangy. The bread not great and the portion was tiny! My friends bacon was very under cooked too. The manager did apologise and took it off the bill but to be honest I would rather pay and have nice food than leave hungry!
Great food, great service, great drinks. We loved Ben's canteen for a Saturday Brunch and would definitely recommend.
Not at all great food but excellent service and atmosphere
Food was okay - nothing outstanding or overly special (actually, for an all day dining place, the menu felt quite limited for anything other than 'brunch' options).
The staff left a lot to be desired. Our server was sarcastic when we asked for a little longer to decide on food (my friend and I had been busy talking and catching up and forgot to look at menu - we've all been there!). It was not busy by any means (only two to three other small tables of 1 to 2 people). He did not make us feel welcome at all...almost like we were an inconvenience to his day. When we finished eating, our empty plates stayed on the table for another 1/2hr...he did not bother coming over to clear our table or ask if we wanted anything else. Very poor first impression and based on that would not go back or recommend to anyone else.
Good food and friendly service. They offer a discount for Blue Light Card holders which was an added bonus.
Food was not that nice and overpriced. Staff was lovely though
Fabulous place for coffee and brunch. The staff were so friendly, lots of space and great food and drink.
this will now be my go to place for weekend brunch.
I have eaten here on four occasions and the food is always excellent, well presented, fresh, great quality and tasty. The service is always friendly and efficient. This time I had the pancakes with bacon and egg....truly delicious!!
My only negative is the sound nearer the back of the canteen is a tad bouncy and not so easy to converse, but this won't put me off from visiting again.
The portions here are HUGE, I ordered some olives to nibble, ate a LOT, and still went home with a doggy bag full! Cute place, good prices, tasty food and staff. One tip: don't wear a mini skirt, the 'mix and match' chairs meant I was on an old splintery wooden chair that left me with snagged tights! :-)
Food wasn’t great, overpriced. My girlfriends avo on toast was cold and awful. Disappointing experience :(
Met a friend there for dinner. Service was quick and friendly. Good and drink good as well. Nothing special but it did the trick!
Food was ok but took a while. Coffee was quite strong and orange juice was nice. Service wasn’t great as we suspected...they will try to push you as much as they can to seat you at small tables next to toilet door even though there are other seats. Ventilation is not good inside. You’d come out with smelly clothes.
If you don’t mind food and service but just want a boozy breakfast with your mates, this is your place.
Terrible- didn’t even finish our meal. We paid only for our drinks and left
Pretty average place, prices are like everywhere in London - there was nothing that made me really want to come back but if I am in the area I guess I may go again.
Food was cold~ fried chicken eggs benedict. Chicken was dry. Charged us full amount each when splitting the bill then refunded the difference in cash but was less than the amount supposed to get back. Rushed us to leave. However ~ BEST BEST BEST flat white in London! :)
Was disappointed by our recent meal at Bens, didn't feel it was up to its usual standard.
Fried chicken very bland.
Chicken burger tough.
However, staff were delightful, and venue has a nice ambience.
Food is good but not remarkable. Starters are far better than the mains. Service is pleasant but the bathroom is filthy!
the food is decent but definitely overpriced the decor is a bit shabby but it is clean. I had a bloody Mary which was very nice. it's in a nice location with lots going on.
They were trialling a new limited menu and there was nothing in their website to say that. A few things were also already off so choice was even more restricted. Food when it came was fine but booked on the basis of the menu online so a bit of a shame.
During hot weather the restaurant is very hot, especially at the back. The service was good but they did get a couple of items wrong. The food however was really good
I always love going to Ben's Canteen, delicious food in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Highly recommended for bruch.
Great food every time, reasonable price, attentive staff!
Super loud. Terrible service. Really rude waitress. The loos were filthy. Screaming children. The food was alright, but expensive for what it was. Wouldn't go back.
Always frustrated as tables available but not visible online
Great place to catch up with a group of friends, decent food, good prices, and good service.
On a Saturday evening there were 5 other customers there over the course of our 2 hr meal. The burger was average to poor, and way overpriced for this quality. The service was good and very tasty gin cocktails. The restaurant has nice decor. Also the menu online advertised a large steak menu, but this wasn't actually the case. Wouldn't return to be honest.
I wasn’t made aware that it was only bottomless brunch from 4-6 at the weekends so travelled to get there and was only offered the bottomless brunch set menu
Third time at Ben’s Canteen, and left very disappointed in the down turn in service.
Food is always reasonable, can’t have any complaints but the staff were inattentive and argumentative when we queried the bill (charged for double G&Ts when we hadn’t asked for them - “a regular/ standard G&T is a double measure” I was told by staff?!), also had to ask staff to provide menus and to take our order despite it being very quiet in there - probably a the reason for the lack of customers on a Saturday evening!
Won’t be going back as the member of staff who gave us the bill was unapologetic and rude. A shame, as we enjoyed going to Bens canteen for a low key meal out.
