Friendly staff, ok food and nice laid back and relaxing atmosphere.
I would not put it in the list of top London places to go for a Brunh.
Nice enough place to go but over priced for what it is in terms of both quality and quantity.

We went today to have brunch me and my husband, I must said I was excited because I heard very good things about this place. Overall the food was good, a little bit pricey, but tasty, but the service wasn’t good at all. Our main waitress looked like she won’t to be there at all, she sat us on the table, no smile or greeting , nothing, she took the order like a robot, she never came to check on us to see if everything was ok, she removed the plates without saying a word, my husband tried to engaged in a conversation with her saying how tasty was the food, she didn’t even replied, she took the payment and left. The place was pretty empty, so no excuse of at least, a minimum customer service. Even if the food was nice, I doubt we are going to come back.

The guy that welcomed us was the only positive thing about our visit, kindly made some adjustments so my dad could have more leg room as the table layout is very snug to say the least he was a very nice guy. But that’s where it ends unfortunately the waitress was new and didn’t have a clue what she was doing. Kept walking off to check every time we asked for some thing.
My brother and my dad got a cheeseburger that cost about £10 without chips (WOW!!) I got the chicken benidict which was nice apart from the tooth breaking burnt toast underneath. Advocado and feta was nice. Sweet potato chips were caked in salt. £80 bill for brunch for 3 definitely not worth the money so most likely won’t be going back to that particular branch ever again unfortunately.

Wonderful brunch at Ben’s on Tuesday, would highly recommend for any sort of eating get together you’re planning. Big or small groups are accommodated well and delicious food and great staff will always ensure I stop by for a visit whenever I’m in town. Thanks, guys!

Had an excellent time last Sunday- celebrated a friend’s baby shower brunch here and the staff were extremely accommodating even though we had a big party, had to wait for a few people to arrive and brought our own cake. Had a lovely long meal with lots of nice drinks and the service couldn’t have been better. Brunch was delicious and a great drink selection- genuinely something for everyone. Thoroughly recommend if you’re in Clapham J. Thanks!

Service is second to none! We went for brunch and ordered the sweetcorn and courgette fritters. They weren’t to our liking - all greasy batter and little filling. The manager came over to ask how the food was because he noticed we had left a lot. We said everything on the plate was delicious except we weren’t keen on the fritters themselves. He seemed disappointed and, unprompted, knocked them both off the bill. You don’t get that very often in London!

Although the manager/main waiter thought his brass and abrupt jokes were funny, they were not. There was no music playing, so not a lot of atmosphere. All staff came together and stood next to our table and all took shots, chanting as they did it - not something I expected at 8pm on a Wednesday evening. Food was ok. Service was poor and forced when it was anything other than below average.

It wasn’t great! The food wasn’t very good and we weren’t told in advance the cost of the bottomless brunch, so we went off the menu. Then we were told it was going to be 20 pound more each than we thought, with no explanation.

The restaurant needs a good clean!! I understand the shabby chic look but this place feels unhygienic .

The food is really tasty and the 90min booze is great value... if you can catch the waiters eye at the back of the restaurant to get a refill
but the toilets are disgusting and need a good scrub; chairs are broken and need fixing...
The table next to us came and went ... but the staff just left the plate of remaining food on the table.
The restaurant is slap dash and uncared for ... but if you are hungry just have a plate of lovely food and try to ignore the grubby surroundings.

Really helpful staff, making sure I could change something on the menu to make it vegan and generally being really friendly. We all really enjoyed our food and drink too.

Really enjoyed the food the peanut chocolate fudge brownie was amazing, just felt the service was really poor. Had to wait 20 minutes once seated just to get asked what drinks we would like and that pretty much was how it went the whole evening. There was a large party going on and just felt like all the focus was on keeping them happy at the expense of everyone else. Also didn't appreciate getting my bill with £17 added for a tip, u can get them to remove it but think it's cheeky they tell you how much tip they want and the more u spend the more the tip...it's 12% of your bill. I find that rude as if I want to leave a tip I will but that just made me not want too.

Ben’s Canteen is great for a tonne of reasons. Great atnosphere, great food and it won’t break the bank so you can have a few of their really decent cocktails. Highly recommended for brunch too... ooo must book that in soon.

The food was great, but the service was severely lacking. My order arrived incorrect, which meant that my friend and I essentially ate separately. The staff seemed more interested in gossiping among themselves and only a lacklustre apology was offered a few minutes before the correct order was brought over

My friends and I are locals and used to go to Ben’s all the time a few years back. We had a bad experience about a year or so and haven’t been back for a while, but wanted to give them a go again. Unfortunately we (according to the manager) rocked up on a Friday night where they were understaffed and had run out of a number of dishes thanks to Deliveroo! They forgot to put our starters through, took an hour to serve our mains and when they finally arrived they were cold and dried out. So we spoke to the manager and left without paying. Woe!

Such a shame as this used to be our fave place! Now there are definitely better places in the area to go to for food! If you’re heading here, stick with the cocktails and move on for mains.

My friends & I went for my birthday lunch before a show & had the Bottomless Bubbles. Our flutes never got dry & the food was LOVELY! The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion with 80s/90s music playing & a few other birthdays as well keeping the mood happy & fun. The staff were lovely & very attentive, I felt like I go there everyday & would definitely be in every weekend if I was local. Can’t wait to go back!

Extremely disinterested service; took over 30 mins for our order to be taken and we were met with looks of total incredulity when we asked if it would be possible to turn down the incredibly loud music music and heavy bass (which wasn’t really done), as the speaker was right above our table making it impossible to hear each other. Felt like we were the butt of the staff’s jokes the entire time and didn’t even get a ‘thank you’ or any sort of acknowledgement when we left. Food was fine, although on the expensive side for brunch in Clapham Junction. Won’t be returning, plenty of other brunch options around that are better value for money with much better service.

The manager treated us and a few other tables very rudely when we questioned the bill, as a black board was showing an offer that we ordered and then he said that it not right and we should check the website. Long story short we argued and he ended up asking us to leave as our table and two others were causing a fuss. He was wrong and tried charging us twice as much for the food. Only problem here was the manager, food okay and other workers were nice.

We had passed by Ben's a couple of times and it always seemed to have a nice buzz so decided to visit for a Saturday brunch. The staff are uber friendly, in a genuine way, nothing forced or insincere. The food we had was delicious while the other plates coming from the kitchen also looked amazing providing us with plenty of options for consideration when we visit again. The vibe is very friendly and chilled and I have to also mention the coffee which was excellent. Looking forward to visiting again - a real neighborhood gem!!

I had heard good things about Bens canteen but was pretty disappointed. The Friday brunch is very expensive for a tiny amount of food although the food is very tasty. The staff are miserable - do not smile, look constantly annoyed and took a long time to come over. The restaurant is dark and along with the depressing staff it makes it quite a dull dining experience.

Very disappointed. I booked a table at 14.30 and arrived on time with one of my friends. Our other friend was running 10 mins late so we were waiting for her to order. We were asked a couple of times if we wanted to order and explained that we were waiting for our friend. The second time we were asked, we were told quite rudely by the waiter that he needed the table back by 15.30 (only an hour after we had booked it). I explained that I thought it wasn’t great that we would only get the table for an hour after I booked in advance. I was told that usually tables are given for an hour and a half but that they needed the table after an hour for their bottomless brunch. The waiter was totally unapologetic and was quite rude in the way he spoke to us. We then decided to leave and go elsewhere, and I told him as we left that it was because we didn’t want to have to leave the table so soon. My other friend then arrived after we left, and the same waiter told her that we had gone because she was late!!!! Unbelievable. We ended up going to The Schoolhouse, just opposite, which was great and the waitress who served us was delightful. I’ve been a fairly regular customer at Ben’s Canteen in Earlsfield for 2 years as I live locally, and was very disappointed with my experience on Saturday. I won’t be going back to the St John’s Hill.
