This was our 3rd visit to Ben's. We normally have dinner but had breakfast here this time. Excellent selection of choices. Great value for money and the food was fantastic as usual. Not to mention my new favourite thing the coco pop latte!
Great place for a fun afternoon or evening. Very relaxed, food was good, overall great value for money
Wonderful Sunday evening with friends, delicious food and very attentive and friendly service! Great gin&tonic list..Worth 5 stars! We will be back!
Went for dinner on a Sunday but have previously been for brunch which was great. Dinner didn't disappoint. The Korean chicken burger and Korean pork loaded fries were amazing and Gordon our waiter was friendly and attentive.
After seeing reviews I went with friends and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. The food was good. We will definitely go again.
Tucked away from the main hussle, this place was buzzing. Perfect for a Saturday chilled brunch although some might find the noise levels a little high. Food was excellent and the service was spot on.
Worth a visit if you just want a chilled brunch in a relaxed setting.
Had wanted to try Ben's Canteen for a long time and decided to arrange a brunch catch up with a friend. Unfortunately this place disappointed, the coffee was nice but the food was mediocre. The staff were extremely unfriendly, rushing to get you in and out and seemed put out when you asked for anything. Not a nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy a brunch, will not be returning.
Nice cocktails, the food was disappointing though this time. Lovely staff.
Enjoyed a lovely brunch and despite being busy we were seated and served quickly. The food was excellent and the coffee hit the spot.
We had the bottomless deal which was great value and they were really good at keeping our glasses topped up. Would recommend!
We went due to a couple of reccommedations, and were disappointed. Not sure if they hadd a new barista but the staff didn't know the difference between and americano and filter coffee and a capuccino and a flat white. Food was ok. Place too loud when full
Great Old Fashioned and an amazing cheese burger. Cheesy chips were good too.
Very tasty food if on the expensive side. Staff are friendly and prompt with service.
Always great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. Enjoying my visits every time.
We had a friendly enough reception and were fairly well looked after by the staff. However there was no real sense that anyone cared if we enjoyed our food or not. I had requested a small side of avocado with my poached eggs which they were nice enough to oblige with, however when it came the eggs were nicely cooked but the avocado was so cold it had obviously just come straight out of the fridge and made quite a horrible contrast alongside the eggs. I was really surprised that a chef would do that.
My friend found that her scrambled eggs were not very warm and her avocado also was freezing cold.
Another issue was the very loud dance music which was quite stressful if you're trying to catch up with a friend on a relaxed Sunday morning.
This place was friendly enough but I wouldn't go back due to the above reasons.
Nice for a friend gasthering
Environment was just too loud, we were a group of friends catching up on a Sunday a and we just felt like we were shouting over each other throughout! Couldnt wait to leave! We sat at the back, so maybe that was the louder end of the cafe? Food was tasty though and service was fine although becuase of the racket, it was quite hard to order. And my friend thought that for the price, the burgers should have come with chips.
Booked a table for 9 was informed when we arrived kitchen would be open till 10! We were not called in advanced.
Relaxed brunch, wonderful food with lots of veggie and vegan options. Yummy pancakes and fab tea. Brilliant service from lovely staff.
It was ok. The food was nothing special, the service was slow, and it was expensive (£19 for a burger, fries and a coke!). The company was great, and the environment (and lack of attentive service) meant we had a good chance to catch up! Won’t rush back.
The chicken eggs benedict are incredible
Amazing Bloody Mary
Had a really nice brunch that was a decent portion for standard sw London standards. Really cool vibe and the servers were all super nice and helpful. Only downside is tea quality isn’t the best.
Lovely seating outside in the sun on a quiet but vibrant street. Waiter was lovely and very polite. Drinks were excellent, tastiest Bloody Mary I have had in London. Food was good and tasty, expensive though. Unfortunately only one person’s came out, and we had to remind the waiter that the other person had also ordered food. Person 1 had finished their meal when second meal eventually came out. Waiter was apologetic
Friendly staff, ok food and nice laid back and relaxing atmosphere.
I would not put it in the list of top London places to go for a Brunh.
Nice enough place to go but over priced for what it is in terms of both quality and quantity.
We went today to have brunch me and my husband, I must said I was excited because I heard very good things about this place. Overall the food was good, a little bit pricey, but tasty, but the service wasn’t good at all. Our main waitress looked like she won’t to be there at all, she sat us on the table, no smile or greeting , nothing, she took the order like a robot, she never came to check on us to see if everything was ok, she removed the plates without saying a word, my husband tried to engaged in a conversation with her saying how tasty was the food, she didn’t even replied, she took the payment and left. The place was pretty empty, so no excuse of at least, a minimum customer service. Even if the food was nice, I doubt we are going to come back.
The guy that welcomed us was the only positive thing about our visit, kindly made some adjustments so my dad could have more leg room as the table layout is very snug to say the least he was a very nice guy. But that’s where it ends unfortunately the waitress was new and didn’t have a clue what she was doing. Kept walking off to check every time we asked for some thing.
My brother and my dad got a cheeseburger that cost about £10 without chips (WOW!!) I got the chicken benidict which was nice apart from the tooth breaking burnt toast underneath. Advocado and feta was nice. Sweet potato chips were caked in salt. £80 bill for brunch for 3 definitely not worth the money so most likely won’t be going back to that particular branch ever again unfortunately.
Wonderful brunch at Ben’s on Tuesday, would highly recommend for any sort of eating get together you’re planning. Big or small groups are accommodated well and delicious food and great staff will always ensure I stop by for a visit whenever I’m in town. Thanks, guys!
Had an excellent time last Sunday- celebrated a friend’s baby shower brunch here and the staff were extremely accommodating even though we had a big party, had to wait for a few people to arrive and brought our own cake. Had a lovely long meal with lots of nice drinks and the service couldn’t have been better. Brunch was delicious and a great drink selection- genuinely something for everyone. Thoroughly recommend if you’re in Clapham J. Thanks!
Service is second to none! We went for brunch and ordered the sweetcorn and courgette fritters. They weren’t to our liking - all greasy batter and little filling. The manager came over to ask how the food was because he noticed we had left a lot. We said everything on the plate was delicious except we weren’t keen on the fritters themselves. He seemed disappointed and, unprompted, knocked them both off the bill. You don’t get that very often in London!
Really great for vegetarian and gluten free. Taken both my boyfriend and sister here in the last week
Although the manager/main waiter thought his brass and abrupt jokes were funny, they were not. There was no music playing, so not a lot of atmosphere. All staff came together and stood next to our table and all took shots, chanting as they did it - not something I expected at 8pm on a Wednesday evening. Food was ok. Service was poor and forced when it was anything other than below average.
It wasn’t great! The food wasn’t very good and we weren’t told in advance the cost of the bottomless brunch, so we went off the menu. Then we were told it was going to be 20 pound more each than we thought, with no explanation.
The restaurant needs a good clean!! I understand the shabby chic look but this place feels unhygienic .
The food is really tasty and the 90min booze is great value... if you can catch the waiters eye at the back of the restaurant to get a refill
but the toilets are disgusting and need a good scrub; chairs are broken and need fixing...
The table next to us came and went ... but the staff just left the plate of remaining food on the table.
The restaurant is slap dash and uncared for ... but if you are hungry just have a plate of lovely food and try to ignore the grubby surroundings.
Really helpful staff, making sure I could change something on the menu to make it vegan and generally being really friendly. We all really enjoyed our food and drink too.
Really enjoyed the food the peanut chocolate fudge brownie was amazing, just felt the service was really poor. Had to wait 20 minutes once seated just to get asked what drinks we would like and that pretty much was how it went the whole evening. There was a large party going on and just felt like all the focus was on keeping them happy at the expense of everyone else. Also didn't appreciate getting my bill with £17 added for a tip, u can get them to remove it but think it's cheeky they tell you how much tip they want and the more u spend the more the tip...it's 12% of your bill. I find that rude as if I want to leave a tip I will but that just made me not want too.
food was very good, service was quick but waitresses lacked any emotion, weren't very perceptive either. Good night just a shame about their attitude.
Ben’s Canteen is great for a tonne of reasons. Great atnosphere, great food and it won’t break the bank so you can have a few of their really decent cocktails. Highly recommended for brunch too... ooo must book that in soon.
Booked a table a couple of hours before and didn’t know what to expect but... service good, food was delicious and OK wine list. Would definitely go back and sooner rather than later. Buffalo chicken fries are amazing!
The food was great, but the service was severely lacking. My order arrived incorrect, which meant that my friend and I essentially ate separately. The staff seemed more interested in gossiping among themselves and only a lacklustre apology was offered a few minutes before the correct order was brought over
