Pretty average place, prices are like everywhere in London - there was nothing that made me really want to come back but if I am in the area I guess I may go again.
Food was cold~ fried chicken eggs benedict. Chicken was dry. Charged us full amount each when splitting the bill then refunded the difference in cash but was less than the amount supposed to get back. Rushed us to leave. However ~ BEST BEST BEST flat white in London! :)
Was disappointed by our recent meal at Bens, didn't feel it was up to its usual standard.
Fried chicken very bland.
Chicken burger tough.
However, staff were delightful, and venue has a nice ambience.
Food is good but not remarkable. Starters are far better than the mains. Service is pleasant but the bathroom is filthy!
the food is decent but definitely overpriced the decor is a bit shabby but it is clean. I had a bloody Mary which was very nice. it's in a nice location with lots going on.
They were trialling a new limited menu and there was nothing in their website to say that. A few things were also already off so choice was even more restricted. Food when it came was fine but booked on the basis of the menu online so a bit of a shame.
During hot weather the restaurant is very hot, especially at the back. The service was good but they did get a couple of items wrong. The food however was really good
I always love going to Ben's Canteen, delicious food in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Highly recommended for bruch.
Great food every time, reasonable price, attentive staff!
Super loud. Terrible service. Really rude waitress. The loos were filthy. Screaming children. The food was alright, but expensive for what it was. Wouldn't go back.
Always frustrated as tables available but not visible online
Great place to catch up with a group of friends, decent food, good prices, and good service.
On a Saturday evening there were 5 other customers there over the course of our 2 hr meal. The burger was average to poor, and way overpriced for this quality. The service was good and very tasty gin cocktails. The restaurant has nice decor. Also the menu online advertised a large steak menu, but this wasn't actually the case. Wouldn't return to be honest.
I wasn’t made aware that it was only bottomless brunch from 4-6 at the weekends so travelled to get there and was only offered the bottomless brunch set menu
Third time at Ben’s Canteen, and left very disappointed in the down turn in service.
Food is always reasonable, can’t have any complaints but the staff were inattentive and argumentative when we queried the bill (charged for double G&Ts when we hadn’t asked for them - “a regular/ standard G&T is a double measure” I was told by staff?!), also had to ask staff to provide menus and to take our order despite it being very quiet in there - probably a the reason for the lack of customers on a Saturday evening!
Won’t be going back as the member of staff who gave us the bill was unapologetic and rude. A shame, as we enjoyed going to Bens canteen for a low key meal out.
They have a great range of flavoured gins, including 2 they make themselves. The food was really lovely, I was just a little disappointed that they had sold out of my 1st and 2nd choice main course and it was only 7.30 on a Thursday night. Would definitely go back!
The food was tasty, but the venue was too loud (from other diners) and some food dishes were overpriced (especially the tender broccoli- £4.50 for 4 small stalks was ridiculous). I wouldn't rate this place for value for money.
Food was the only let down but good service and good atmosphere
Great food with a great atmosphere!
Birthday booking of 11. We were the only people in there and yet the service was exceptionally slow and slightly rude. £6.50 for extra halloumi cheese on the flatbread and yet was only two slices of halloumi. When questioned the waitress just said there was nothing she could do.
Food’s good but it’s extremely noisy and no soundproofing at all - impossible to have a conversation during busy times
We had a great time! Food was delicious and a great atmosphere. We upgraded to the Boozy Brunch although choice of words need to definitely be changed. Unlimited for 90 minutes but a maximum of 6 drinks is a bit silly. Either unlimited or 6 drinks maximum.
The food was really good and quite a bit of choice on the menu!
Good atmosphere too!
Brilliant service, never had an empty glass as staff came over to top up our prosecco as soon as we took a few sips, which was delightful! Food was restricted to burgers and nachos for brunch but that's all we wanted. Food was great! Would definitely return.
Started ok but a large group took over one side of the rear dining area and the noise they were making made it unbearably loud - the low ceiling and hard space just seemed to make the sound reflect. Their arrival also distracted the staff to the point where the service in general fell apart.
I go to Ben's Canteen regularly, love the ambiance and food everytime!
Staff are always so friendly and food was really tasty. Great for GF and DF too
Lovely breakfast, great service and a delicious Bloody Mary
Great food, good light restaurant although service is a little slow.
Everything was lovely. Cannot fault this place, food/service has been great each time. Thank you for your service!!
I think a little understaffed for how busy they were on Sunday. Otherwise awesome!
Food was very average, very greasy with half cooked sausage. We sat at back of restaurant which was extremely noisy, think it’s slightly better at front of restaurant, not as noisy as it’s a bit more open space. Thought it was very overpriced for what you got on your plate. Will not be returning.
Great staff, a lovely environment and good food. The staff were so accommodating and made us feel really welcome regardless of each of us having some sort of different dietary requirement for them to handle.
Awesome place with awesome food and service to match. Can't recommend this place highly enough. We'll definitely be back.
Bottomless brunch - absolutely fantastic! Friendly staff... food was great and our glasses were never empty!
Menu choice and quality of food mediocre and pricy
Really great birthday brunch here on a Thursday. Kids portions were huge & adult portions were prob more what you would expect! Really lovely staff who brought high chairs & totally great at finding space for our buggies. Also found a toy car for my son to play with. Attentive enough staff but not in your face. Great experience. Would definitely recommend & return myself.
The jazz night was great. Caught up with friends, enjoyed the food, music and the 2 for 1 gins went down nicely.
I'm slowly becoming a regular here, and can't seem to get enough of the Korean Chicken Burger! Excellent menu and service. The Jazz was a little too loud on Wednesday night but brilliant performance nevertheless and great offers on gin!
I've been here before and have received excellent service, however Sunday, the service was quite slow except for drinks, a customer brought a dog inside which barked and yapped everytime people walked past, the food arrived and was luke warm, needless to say it wasn't enjoyable to have this level of service so we left as soon as we could
