Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill
Offered the chance to restore Bentley’s to its former glory when it came up for sale in 2005, Chef Richard Corrigan embraced the challenge. Once again opening its doors to great critical acclaim serving oysters, fish and seafood in much the same way it has since 1916. Linen-clad tables, a wooden floor and Richard’s art collection adorn the walls creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Bentley's Oyster Bar and Grill also has two beautiful private dining rooms. The Crustacea seats up to 14 and the Swallow Street Rooms, with it's own private bar and street entrance, seats up to 60.

Dispite the contrary on the internet and the booking app and despite being able to make a booking with no comeback, the restaurant was closed. Spent a great time and meal at Amazonico! Amazing food and great service!
Been here a number of times and the food and service are always superb
We had a fabulous evening, great food and attentive staff
Our food and service was excellent
Unfortunately a noisy group at the bar took the ambiance off a little
However your staff reseated is a bit further away which helped a little with the noise level
See you again
We were welcomed on arrival and asked to sit outside. Although cold, the overhead heaters were very good at keeping us warm.
The food was excellent, Jersey Rock Oysters, soup and Sea bass and fish pie.
Getting a bill at the end took time and paying it entailed another wait!!
It is unfortunate that smoking is allowed outside as the smoke detracts from the enjoyment of the food.
We will certainly return!!
Every time we come to London we eat at Bentleys. We would never miss it because it is the freshest seafood, the loveliest desserts, fabulous wine list, and the staff are all so friendly so knowledgeable. You cannot go wrong dining at Bentleys!
Great service, excellent food!
This is a characterful venue with lovely food and attentive staff.
We had some issues with the location of our table which was resolved quickly and without fuss.
It was our anniversary and we had a wonderful evening.
Superb restaurant that lived up to its name and reputation. Both the food and the service were outstanding, with memories that will last beyond our visit.
I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant, the oysters are delightful.
Very good - efficient service, nice atmosphere, great food.
Our only criticism would be that we were coming pre-theatre - we'd researched beforehand and knew there was a pre-theatre set price menu available, but it wasn't automatically offered (even though our reservation was 5.30pm) and seemed to be provided a little reluctantly when asked for. Perhaps catering a bit for tourists?
Excellent food and service and the menu was perfect...... Bonus for us was meeting Richard Corrigan on the way in so as it was my wife's birthday it made the evening more memorable.
Fantastic pre show dinner. Staff were attentive and friendly will definitely return
Very disappointing experience. Chef himself was sitting with people and making a lot of noise. The food was overpriced and the quality pub standard.
Excellent food & service. Barman (originally from Sardinia) was particularly charming & friendly. Despite being busy, he found time to talk to us about the chsampagne & wine. We had a great evening.
Great staff. Just sometimes they can be a little vague. Sometimes very attentive, sometimes disappear?? But they are knowledgable and represent the restaurant very well.
Bentley’s is a great everyday fine dining experience. It’s not an in/out restaurant like many others in the area. You go to enjoy and take your time about the whole experience.
Fish pie was superb
Fantastic food, with great service too.
Very much enjoyed the platter.
Fish was rubbery and awfully expensive
First time we ate there It was superb shame the quality wasn’t there the second time
Food and service was excellent. Decor is slightly tired.
The food is excellent, never had a bad meal and the staff are really attentive without being intrusive. Can not fault this restaurant, our go to favourite.
My husband and I had a really lovely dining experience here. The pre and post theatre menu were wonderful value for food that was exceptional in quality and flavour. The service was outstanding- discreet and very pleasing.
My husband also received a "HappyBirthday"plate of delicious little sweets.
My favourite restaurant in London for lunch, I can’t fault it best dover sole ever
Our first visit to Bentleys. Very good meal and lots to choose from on the menu. The staff were
excellent. We would have liked more space between the tables, but would go again.
Unfortunately after going to Bentleys for around 15 years it was the first occasion I left disappointed!
The charge of £15 for one very mediocre Luke warm prawn was shocking and the fish soup tasted nothing like it always had previously
The change in menu resulting in the hike in prices left a very bitter taste
The front of house and bar staff were all very professional and polite and provided a bit of craic at the bar
Great fun at the counter of the oyster bar. Really looked after well by all of the staff. We've gone there before and definitely will go there again.
Birthday treat with friend. Staff were wonderful and oysters perfection. Nice Chablis too
Food and ambience was very good but the service left a lot to be desired. It appeared that the staff were very focussed on other ya les maki g it very hard to get their attention for additional drinks . E en after catching g their eye they still didn’t attend us.
As always a first class experiance at my fav restaurant!! 👍🙌
My starter of lobster bisque was reasonably tasty but a bit watery whereas my main course of Dover sole fillets with crab butter was excellent - as was the side dish of skinny chips. Service, for a rate of 13.5%, should have been exceptional but sadly fell down on a number of fronts. Cheerful it was but efficient it was not. Especially annoying when customers are neglected as soon as the main course has been served. By no means unusual in restaurants generally but frustrating nonetheless. Very expensive.
Tables too close together. We experienced very slow service. Ambient music barely heard. Disappointed.
We went for valentine’s celebration and the experience wasn’t great from the start: first, the glass and table mat at my seat was not clean from some sludge which luckily the waiter was happy to replace them with clean ones, then they broke my boyfriend’s wine glass when giving us the menus.
Food was ok but wasn’t good enough to match the expensive price. We ordered oysters, crispy squid, lobster bisque, beef tartare, lobster tempura and lobster thermidor. The oysters were on point. The lobster bisque doesn’t taste much of lobster, the lobster was overcooked and chewy in both lobster dishes and the beef tartare was better than all the seafood dishes except the oysters.
I had been to other seafood restaurants for oysters and seafood and this was the least satisfying experience I have had.
Excellent flavours and attentive service in crisp decent surroundings...Richard was our waiter who an asset to the Bentleys.
Great food and service
I have going to Bentleys for 40+ years ....not every year .....the service was very good to table and the Dover soles were excellent. Just wish for a little more' elbow room " !
Dinner after a matinee. Sat at the bar and served by Frederico. Bentley’s is the perfect English upscale restaurant. Food is always excellent and consistent. Every person is treated with respect and a smile. Thank you for being there all these years.
This was a special celebration for us and Bentley's did not disappoint ! From the moment the door man opened the door I knew it was going to be a fabulous experience and it was. The piano player was superb the food delicious and the service just right and the ambiance in the downstairs restaurant was so relaxing. We were a little nervous of having our first oyster but we are now converts to the Galway ones. We shall be back !
Perfect restaurant
Friendly and relaxed
Beautiful outside area under heaters
Attentive staff
Great oysters both native and farmed, followed by nicely cooked fish and an interesting cheese plate. Excellent and reliable.
One of London’s oldest fish and seafood restaurants, tucked away in a quiet lane off Piccadilly. Seating at tables inside, outside on the heated terrace or inside at the bar (my preference).
Good selection of fresh oysters daily and excellent fish and seafood as well as a few grilled meat options for carnivores.
Highly professional service. Great ambience. Not cheap (£100+ per person), but value for money.
Beautifully cooked and presented seafood in a gorgeous dining room with impeccable service, made for a really special celebratory meal!
