Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill
Offered the chance to restore Bentley’s to its former glory when it came up for sale in 2005, Chef Richard Corrigan embraced the challenge. Once again opening its doors to great critical acclaim serving oysters, fish and seafood in much the same way it has since 1916. Linen-clad tables, a wooden floor and Richard’s art collection adorn the walls creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Bentley's Oyster Bar and Grill also has two beautiful private dining rooms. The Crustacea seats up to 14 and the Swallow Street Rooms, with it's own private bar and street entrance, seats up to 60.

The raw and baked oysters are worth the trip in itself. The mains weren't as good as the starters unfortunately. The sea bass was good but pass on the vongole. For the prices I had higher expectations for the mains. Good special occasion place.
For 6 of us was a little bit expensive £940
Delicious food served efficiently and courteously in a traditional environment
Beautiful food; exceptional service!
Oysters. Fresh and clean.
Dressed crab. I found few bits of crab shell in it.
Lobster bisque. Lovely.
Smoked haddock. Very soft. Cooked well.
Linguine vongole. Lovely linguine noodles but should have cooked with right clams, like telina rather than tiny baby clams. Should have done silt clearly, I had quite a lots of slime.
Creme brulee. Very nice. Well burnt on the sugar cover
Affogato. Lovely. Right portion.
Service was very good.
It’s not hard to believe that Bentleys has over 100 years under its belt. The service. The style. The decor. The food. All top quality. Fish pie and lobster linguine were heavenly. A dozen oysters as a starter - deliciously fresh and full of flavour. A Sancerre wine to accompany the meal. Now that is a meal made for kings and queens. A special occasion to be remembered!
Absolutely fabulous from the service to the food. A truly amazing place
Excellent fish really professional and courteous staff
Time flyes -but not a Bentelys!
After some 103 years, Bentleys still serves the best Oysters and Sea food in London. First class, no rush, outstanding food, fantastic atmosphere, very competent waiters.
We were four persons from Sweden visisiting Bentleys on the 4th January 2019, we will come back soon.
Fish and chips excellent but not sure what the cold grey mushy peas were all about. Superb side salad however.
Weird ambience. Staff Uber formal with guests but able to chat and laugh amongst themselves. A bit more of that with guests would be welcomed!
Amazing New Year!!!
Service is amazing, amazing food, and wine was great too.
Bentley’s is by far the best restaurant I have ever been too will always go back staff are amazing and so attentive the food is out of this world! 5* all the way
Have visited many times. Always a nice atmosphere but feel that the prices are just getting out of hand
Went with family during Christmas break for lunch. We had the Oysters, which for Oyster loving husband, were outstanding. We then all had the fish & chips. The fish was so succulent and chips & mushy peas delicious. We were way too full for dessert so can’t comment on them, I couldn’t even look at the menu I was that full. The staff were lovely and welcoming and always on hand when needed. Would recommend for a treat.
Well it's Christmas Eve, Santa is on his way, but he may be avoiding Virginia in county Cavan as Richard has been a naughty boy.
The once packed, unsurpassed Bentleys falls from grace. Pared back to the bone of my Lemon sole, sink into the sloppy premium fish pie.
It's a difficult market, Mr Corrigan. This execution won't cut the mustard, change or move on. Happy Christmas.
Delightful bar men and great oysters. Entree portions are generous. Always a go to place when I’m in London
Oyster is a must try item, lobster bisque seared scallops are all unbelievably delicious
Absolutes excellent evening- wonderful food, atmosphere and service
Would not miss going to Bentleys when in London
One of the best restaurants in London, a must for anyone who likes food.
We booked a table which meant we were upstairs seated on tables with pristine white tablecloths. The food was exceptional must try’s are the oysters and the stuffed Dover sole. Would recommend although was quite expensive but worth it.
The service was attentive, but not intrusive, from the moment we stepped in. The ambiance stately, and the food lovely. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but to my mind the service, atmosphere, and certainly food quality make up for it. Top tip: the 'small plates' are huge, and a good place to start!
Beautiful food in fabulous surroundings a perfect evening and a lovely finale to our pre Christmas break, thank you
Just excellent. Service was a little slow at times, they had some large tables in which were quite noisy but hey its Christmas and thats what happens
To pay £150 for a fish pie, sea bass and Ice cream with 2 glasses of wine was in my mind rather steep!
Good classic seafood finely cooked and flavoured. Good service but not too fussy.
One of the best, if not the best seafood restaurant. No waiting time, you are taken care of not just by one person but a team of waiters who we believe equally contribute to a great service. Food is amazing.
"Fantastic" Food..Service..Location, a true Timeless Classic
Not surprisingly, great oysters! Lovely ambience, quality food, friendly and attentive service.
This is now my favourite place in the whole of London, to eat, taste and chat. I love it so much! I feel like adding the cost of a monthly visit to my budget. It is so worth it and is so very special.
After 1h 40 mins they say they want the table back! I’m half way through a £150 bottle of wine! They want to seat a table of 10. Well you won’t be seating me again.
Very noisy restaurant and poor service. Extremely expensive for an unremarkable seafood restaurant.
I thought.our meal wash fabulous, it was busy and specialises in sea food which is a favourite. Lovely spicy crab and muscle soulless, my husbands Scottish oysters were big and hearty. Main course of scallops quite small but that is what I wanted, beautifully looked and my husbands lemon sole beautifully buttery. Excellent service and attention to detail, downstairs a little noisy but then it was the weekend and extremely busy. Special occasion for us but did not feel out of place or made to feel that we were any different to others although expensive so attracting those with money to spare. A beautifully made and tasting meal.
Had to move table due to a very noisy group having a university reunion. Food as good as ever but the service at table has definitely slipped a bit.
One of the best seafood meals of my life. Impeccable service! Looking forward to visiting again.
I am astonished that other reviewers think this is good service. The waiting staff were amateurs, and had no idea what they were doing, and at easily over £100 per head you would expect them to have been trained. The food was OK, but suspect that they have been acquired by a large chain and the quality is not monitored. Fish Works next door are very much on their game, and what Bentleys used to be like years ago. These people are trading on their name and reputation, and that will not last long.
Appalling service, waited 10 mins for a reserved table.
Head chef, said about us, “who are these people?”
Ridiculously arrogant people, with sub-standard food.
This was a lovely restaurant. The tables are very close together and its only a small room however the ambiance was lovely and the sea food was wonderful. We went to anther sea food restaurant the following evening and it didn't even come close to caparison to Bentleys. Service was perfect. The gentleman was very friendly, funny and engaging. Would happily go back.
