Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill
Offered the chance to restore Bentley’s to its former glory when it came up for sale in 2005, Chef Richard Corrigan embraced the challenge. Once again opening its doors to great critical acclaim serving oysters, fish and seafood in much the same way it has since 1916. Linen-clad tables, a wooden floor and Richard’s art collection adorn the walls creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Bentley's Oyster Bar and Grill also has two beautiful private dining rooms. The Crustacea seats up to 14 and the Swallow Street Rooms, with it's own private bar and street entrance, seats up to 60.

What a wonderful seafood/fish restaurant. The starters of fresh oysters, eel bacon and potato, and scallop ceviche were amazing. The main course offerings are as expected but prepared perfectly with the freshest ingredients. The chocolate mousse was also excellent. We sat outdoors on an amazingly beautiful London evening. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. All in all a wonderful evening!
Always good food , good staff, good atmosphere, always a pleasure to return
A wonderful dining experience! The food was fabulous-superb fresh fish beautifully cooked. Some of the best service I have ever had in a restaurant- really professional and charming. We had a lovely evening and hope to be back soon.
Reunion of old friends-perfect location with amazing and friendly staff.
This was our 2nd time for our London trip in 3 weeks. Lovely service, amazing food! We will definitely come again!
Top class as usual
I cannot fault anything about my meal here. I at the Vietnamese and catalan dressed oysters, the lobster bisque and the turbot. Everything was exceptional and reasonably priced for the quality of food you get. The staff were very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who loves good quality seafood.
First visit, but we will definitely return. Excellent lobster.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here on the hottest day of the year. And my god was the meal good. Mouth watering oysters followed by sublime turbot (for me) and sea trout for my wife, washed down with a great cocktail and bottle of Albariño. The staff worked as a great team and we were even welcomed by patron Richard Corrigan. We will definitely go again.
We enjoyed a very pleasant lunch at Bentley's on one of the hottest days of the year and enjoyed an outside table in the shade. Mr Corrigan was in attendance, entertaining a couple of clients on the adjoining table, which if nothing else ensured that we had very good service. However I suspect that the staff do a good job anyway which is nice to know.
This restaurant is very conveniently situated but removed from the hubbub of Picadilly and Regent Street. A good place to recharge ones energy after trudging around the Summer Exhibition.
good. Excellent oysters.
Service was slow and inconsistent. Meal was mediocre. Sadly, it seems Bentley’s has declined over the years. Expensive for what is.
Bentleys is always great, particularly if you like fish. In the summer, sitting outside under their umbrellas is great. Downside is that there’s no salad or cold option for main course.....
Great and fresh seafood, cooked to perfection. Really enjoyable Saturday luncheon
The food was amazing, the service was superbe and very professional, great sommelier, overall a wonderful experience
Great Staff! so Helpfull, nice, proffesional, smiling ect, ect, wondrful food , fresh , creative So perfect
Good food and wine selection, nice and willing to help staff.
Great! Consistent, friendly and up to usual high standard
Excellent restaurant, superb varied menu supported by a great specials menu.
Fish and chips that reached the height of perfection and an amazing summer plate of salmon, crab and smoked trout. This restaurant has a reputation for the finest fish - and it didn't disappoint. Could there be a better lunch than perfectly cooked, perfectly fresh fish and a glass of crisp white wine? I don't think so.
I arrive hot and glowing, over 30 minutes early. I am given my choice of seats: table 40 is the place to be.
A glass of Perrier Jouet (NV) and I am refreshed. There are some nice sounding specials, that I half catch, but I order my usual. I would love this place to become my local.
The bread is robust sour dough, with a chewy crust. Shellfish cocktail: perfection as ever. Steak tartare hand chopped, with seasoning just on the spicy side and good chips. Côtes du Rhône is a good foil. The jazz pianist sounds just a little too discordant for comfort.
Gooseberry rhubarb tart is a hot dish with a pie crust top, malic sweet sourness. Sagrantino may be better served at room temperature.
I forgot again about the cover charge and service charge, but they equate to the amount of a tip.
Excellent service , lovely food and even watched the tennis!
Amazing food! Good ambience.
We ordered oyster, lobster spaghetti and sea food platter. Seafood is very fresh and spaghetti is delicious.
Waiter is very polite and friendly.
Do try the (giant) sushi and the lemon sole was remarkably large. The Stout rarebit was a fine finish
We ate at the bar. Immaculate understated service. Felt relaxed in a very good way. Food quality superb.
Service is first class
You cannot fail to have a great time- sitting outside in a warm summer... eating oysters, drinking white wine and cocktails.
Bentley's is a good stop for decent seafood. What is a bit of an issue is that the service is shaky, last time they brought me another customer's first course by mistake and this time the kitchen forgot my main course until we reminded them. But, having said that the seafood is quite good and Bentley's is a nice place for a good meal if you are near Piccadilly Circus.
We visited London for our holiday and we visited this restaurant with our family at last night. Foods were fantastic and their provided services were also excelent,it was good memorial dinner for us.
a bit disappointed...I was told it is one of the best seafood restaurants in town, however it didn't fulfill our expectations, if there's a next time I'd need to try the oysters. Sharing plate with micro mussels and half lobster, I was about to ask, where is the other half sir? I guess you don't ask that in your wedding anniversary dinner. Fish stew very salted with the clams bringing all the sand of Sahara. I know some places in Spain anyone would throw those plates to the waiter. One of the things I was concerned the most it was when the waiter removed my plate without finishing, astonishing.
Food was excellent; service was good but a bit rushed. Did not have time to finish our gin (£13 each!) before our starter arrived. Total bill for two (2.5 courses) was over £180 so the imposition of a £4 cover charge was a bit of an insult.
Great food, Service a bit off this visit. Considering a lot of staff it was disappointing, they forgot 3 things we asked for,
A Cocktail, barman forgot
Coffees, waitress forgot
Ashtray, gave up waiting as he must have forgot and paid and left
Considering it’s a pricey meal for 2 and lots of staff around the entrance being friendly it didn’t make us feel valued
Amazing food, beautiful service, it's a pleasure for all fish and seafood lovers!!
I have eaten hear 5 or 6 times know. It’s always a great place for some lunch.
Lovely leisurely lunch with friends. Looked after very well by the staff team. Looking forward to going back some time soon.
I left this restaurant after 25 minutes without service. It’s like the waiters were intentionally ignoring me. That’s never happened to me anywhere before.
The reviews are positive and the ambiance is nice but the service... isn’t.
An old favourite... great for lunch outdoors. Excellent sea food; friendly staff; excellent service. Go there!
Another great experience at Bentley’s. Fantastic food, great service and lovely atmosphere. The live music outside on the terrace and inside in the bar area was pleasant and unobtrusive. We’ll be back.
Had a great experience dining at Bentley’s last week! Wonderful menu selection & attentive wait staff!
It was fun to try a variety of regional raw oysters. The Dorset oysters were my favorite! I had linguini vongole. It was served hot & the clams were delicious! The crime brûlée was perfect!
Do make a reservation & enjoy!
I know that the crab populations have been effected by the beast from the east but really my dressed crab was too small to make it to the kitchen at bentleys. The restaurant should suck-it-up and look forward to next year when the populations have recovered, but serving a tiddler for £25 is just not on!
For the seafood lover there are few places in central London that can match Bentley's, the menu is not extensive but what it does it does very well indeed. Great place to meet friends or a special occasion.
