A most pleasurable dining experience!
Our stay @ the Bernards Inn was outstanding. We have already recommended the Inn and the dining experience to friends. Food and service, accompanied on SAT night by excellent piano entertainment was ideal and delicious.
Birthday dinner it was great
Awesome service they makes the delicious food say thank you for making Bernards Inn the sweet spot in a quiet place.
I thought that I was going to cabaret night. I dined at the restaurant a few weeks & noticed a sign for cabaret night so I made a reservation. Unfortunately the poster that was in the center of the lobby made no mention of having to make the reservation thru the special events office or that the event was in another part of the inn. Instead we had dinner right next to the piano because I had requested that location but there was no piano player because of cabaret night so we had dinner in silence with a server that had a terrible attitude & made numerous mistakes that included serving drinks, utensils,& food to the wrong people every time. I was entraining clients & this was very embarrassing. When the mixup regarding cabaret night was brought to the attention of a manager she made a very weak apology. We were all so shocked at the insincerity we were all speechless.
Returned to the Bernards Inn for our Anniversary Dinner and had a great evening. Enjoyed listening to the Piano Player in the Bar before dinner and then a delicious dinner in the Dining Room. We both had Maine Diver Scallops which were excellent! Very sweet of them to wish us Happy Anniversary in writing in a card and on our dessert plate. A fun romantic dinner overall!
One tip for the Manager. Your Restaurant appeared to be sold out except for an 8:30pm dinner reservation which we opted to select. However, when we arrived we were told there were plenty of available tables and we could be seated right away. We chose to wait a bit, however, you almost lost our business had we not decided 8:30pm was fine for us. Many other NJ diners would have passed and you had many available tables. I suggest sorting this out with OpenTable for bookings.
We had a nice experience overall. They had a nice piano player, we could only get an 8:30 pm réservation, so at the end of our dinner they started to move the tables in our section and that was a bit disturbing without this they would have gotten all 5 stars otherwise.
Lovely spot! Met old friends for lunch. Very quiet place which is beautiful and service is outstanding! We love to visit this restaurant. Highly recommend it.
Good food served in an elegant atmosphere. Perfect for special occasions. Like the fact that the Bar Menu is also available. Great wine list.
Birthday dinner. Server was outstanding! From the drink at the bar through dessert, everything was awesome!
Wonderful dinner. Great service. Oscar was outstanding. The food was excellent
Very loud in main room- move to an empty small room
On the side- server was nice but very inexperienced.
Difficult menu to choose from. My fois de canard was great
Food great, a little noisy outside with large group allowed at small table
Food was delicious and our service outstanding. Daniel made our evening even more memorable. He is truly an asset to Bernards inn
Excellent food, but limited menu choices
The service is exceptional, and the piano player is very good. It has a good ambiance, with a somewhat of a lively bar scene. The food overall was good, but not exceptional. Considering that we went here for our 35th wedding anniversary and stayed at the hotel and they were informed of this, nothing special was offered.
The waiter (Dan) was very knowledgeable about the wine menu and dinner menu. He made excellent recommendations (I actually went with his dinner recommendation - gnocchi with duck. Outstanding!). The pianist (Dee) was super. A great place to dine.
My husband and I got married at Bernard's Inn 5 years ago. We celebrate every year here for dinner. It NEVER disappoints! The food and staff are amazing!!!!!!!!!! We are always disappointed when it's all over. That's how good it is!
Service was a little weak on this visit. Unusual as service is usually excellent.
Bernards Inn is a great dining experience. Great food - I had short ribs with collard greens and cornbread - just a wonderful group of tastes. Service was excellent, attentive waiter. Bright room off the bar was perfect. We have gone a couple of times now before we head to MPAC in Morristown and plan to go again and again. For us, it ranks above any other restaurant in Somerset or Hunterdon Counties.
Excellent food. Excellent wine list. Great bar scene for older crowd. One of the best.
Great atmosphere, incredibly friendly and accommodating staff! Quality of everything we ordered from the drinks and appetizers to the main course were outstanding. The flavors from the combination and quality of the ingredients was truly and experience.
Great meal. All the food was fabulous. We love sitting on the terrace. Outside it was a beautiful summer night.
Our 4th visit here and we enjoyed everything from drinks to our dinner. We will be back.
We went to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed our dinner, halibut and scallops, however the staff needs more diversity education.
This was an outstanding combination for a summer lunch; both the Vichyssoise and the herbed chicken paillard were delicious with the pinot gris.
Went for breakfast on a Saturday. Food was wonderful. Service was great. Ambience super. However we were the only two in the restaurant!! I obviously didn’t need a reservation!! I would definitely return to this lovely place! Hope others join me!!!
Most of the staff had very heavy Spanish accents and were hard to understand. Communication could be better, but food was top notch.
The service and ambiance was very good. Food options somewhat limited for a non-bar experience, but this time the taste and presentation much improved over our last two visits. Will return to try out the "bar menu" which seems to be a bit more creative.
Celebrating our 20th anniversary as we’ve done many times at the inn. Food and wine was outstanding.... Luis, our server, was wonderful. They went out of their way to make our evening a special one!
Our anniversary. We always celebrate there as it was where we were engaged.
Had a Birthday brunch for my daughter. Great attentive service. Only mentioned in conversation at the table it being her birthday and for dessert they gave candle and Happy Birthday plate. Really made the experience 10 x better. Lobster rolls were great and eggs benedict was done well. Great atmosphere.
Although the food was fabulous and the wine was outstanding, the room was boring. There were only 3 tables taken most of the evening and at the end we were the only table. Not an enjoyable situation. This was partly due to the fact that people were eating outside and in the bar area, but we were not given those choices. The quiet room ruined our experience. For this reason I would not return except maybe in the winter.
The place is iconic. Classy, good food, great service and not full of itself.
Other than my soup not being as hot as I would have liked (and shame on me for not asking for it to be heated), everything else was wonderful.
Good food. Sitting outside is great. However, $18 for a Negroni is down right stupid and uncalled for.
Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menus and gave excellent recommendations. Dining room was very romantic. Was perfect for our special occasion
If you’re going to take an eleven o’clock reservation you shouldn’t tell the guest “let me go see if the chefs will stay late and cook for you the kitchen already closed” Really an uncomfortable way to be welcomed to a high end establishment.
Very ordinary. Food was the same quality/style as you’d get in any diner.
