Amazing atmosphere, cuisine and service!
The service is not great and the restaurant is way too noisy
The food is delicious, the interiors amazing and the staff are always brilliant. I love that place. Stunning, comfortable and great quality with un-pretentious, helpful staff. Both my guests commented on how much they enjoyed the experience.
Great food as always and a good vibe but noisy! I recommend the pork pie and mac and cheese!
A great setting for a celebration! Delicious food quickly served. Noisy, busy, lively. Not the venue for a quiet evening for two.
Never fails to deliver. Excellent food, wine and service. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. Can get quite noisy but worth it. One of the best dining rooms in London.
A really beautiful restaurant with very friendly staff and great food. It's a little noisy but still worth dining there. We will definitely be back for dinner soon!
Excellent evening with a wonderful table , great service and superb food. Highly recommend . We were celebrating a birthday and the kitchen even produced a special surprise. Fantastic !
We went for Sunday lunch. The roast lunch food was average. The roast potatoes we so greasy. The vegetables were limited (just greens). There was limited cocktails on the menu. The saving grace was dessert. It was amazing. I do not mind spending money on good food but this was just not worth it for me.
Very relaxing, lovely space to enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
I Love the atmosphere of this beautiful building, I wish the menu had a bit more choice on it but overall its a great restaurant
Brilliant. The only downside was that we were pressured to leave the table after 2 hours. There were 7 of us so was rushed. And we weren't told about it when booking.
Great venue, fantastic service and the food was amazing. Loved our visit.
We had a ‘pit stop’ whilst shopping on Black Friday. We had a fantastic lunch. We could not decide what to have to drink so ordered a couple of glasses of champagne. Our waiter recommended a cocktail that he thought we would like so brought this over for us to try with 2 straws - it was fantastic!! As was the lemon sole, cooked to perfection. We were well looked after as thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Highly recommend
We visited Berners Tavern for breakfast and loved it. Great choice of breakfast options, well priced, gorgeous venue, great service. Hard to fault it.
Disappointed. Lovely elegant dining room. The waiting staff were overly attentive. Attention should be discrete and not be so intrusive e.g. constantly interrupting with “is everything ok?”. My client complained that his breakfast tea was stone-cold (it was). His sour-dough toast was burned on the edges and he found it almost impossible to cut into. The waiter replaced the food and the pot of tea but it was frustrating. For the prices charged the experience was poor. 7/10.
The first time we were here 2 years ago, we adored! Two days ago we went very eager to have a fabulous dinner and night. We ordered salad and Chateaubriand for two.We got a piece of meat that was definitely not a Chateaubriand and thta came cold. We returned it only to receive it again in same temperature. It was then replaced by two riv eyes equally cold that could not be eaten! We left totally disappointed and we of course were not charged but only fo the salads and beverages! It was a big disappointment for the place and ambience are great...We will not visit again.
Incredible ambiance, beautiful decor and architecture, attentive staff and good food
Great meal,I really can't recall having a better Mac and cheese (thought my colleague was exaggerating). Lovely place and I got a truffle with a candle in it as it was my birthday!
Only oddities were: (1) the weight of the knife that was unusually light relative to, for example, the salt and pepper shakers; and (2) a picture adjacent to me was slightly ajar, which was a little annoying for my OCD. Minor quibbles.
A lovely restaurant recommended to me a few years ago, I've been back three times since and I don't live in London, perhaps I need a new recommendation but it is very good there. The main restaurant room is an incredible sight with the architecture and the countless ornately framed photographic and art work adorning the walls.
Totally over rated, very disappointing. The service was lacking, food was mediocre, and for the price point you would expect better.
Food and Service were impeccable. Staff were attentive without being overbearing. Pork Pie and Caramel Apple Eclair were amazing.
I would recommend, if only for the beautiful dining room but with the warning that it's pretty pricey....in particular the wine list does not feel like good value
I never miss an opportunity to have lunch or dinner here during my annual trip to London. I love the decor and the atmosphere. The food is wonderful and there is a great selection of wines. Theatre on a plate....!
Disappointing lunch having to our back both our main courses. Try somewhere else - Scotts!
Absolutely lovely meal and drinks! Great service and beautiful, classy atmosphere -- highly recommend!
Loved everything about this restaurant. Service was great, food very tasty and generous portions and decor is beautiful!
Amazing decor and impeccable service! The food was good too, not amazing but good. Would definitely visit again.
Delicious food in a truly beautiful setting, the staff manage to be very attentive but not intrusive. The duck was superb, and the champagne trolley is so decadent. Loved it.
Very loud for a restaurant in a price level like this!! Difficult to have a conversation.
This was my third time but this restaurant does not disappoint: very correct service, very good food, great atmosphere. Only small complaint: the noise level can be a bit much at peak times...
Great decor, amazing breakfast. Worth the effort to visit
Fantastic place with Atmosphere. Never visit London without a Berner ‘s diner.
A fantastic place full of amazing food, service and atmosphere. Would recommend highly
High standard of the staff adds to high level of cuisine.
Wine list outstanding also.
Overall, this is a restaurant that merits many visits.
Great experience, food was excellent however staff was very swamped and took a while to come to our table at end.
Overall highly recommended
Food is always good here, ambience is spot on and always great for a small or big group get together. Unfriendly front of house/hosts let this place down.
Great food, staff, service and ambience.
I have been to Berner's Tavern many many times and have always enjoyed it. It's an impressive space and generally very good. My last visit for really not good at all.
I booked well in advance. I called to explain that we would no longer be four and that we would also be 30 minutes late. The hostess confirmed this was fine and I was told that we would need to leave the table by 9.30. I confirmed this was completely fine.
I was also told we would need to leave by 9.30 when we arrived. We asked for the bill, it took almost 20 minutes then someone came over at 9.36 very unprofessionally saying that we really need to leave the table and we should have left at 9. I politely pointed out that two people had told me we could stay untl 9.30 and they he should speak with his hostess team. He would not let it go and then when I came back from the loo this person was telling someone else at my table that we really needed to leave. This was a bad end to the evening and the table by the kitchen was a further insult. Not impressed. At all.
I used to love Berners, this was probably my fifth visit and it is somewhere I always recommend. However, I feel standards and
quality have seriously slipped.
The good - the room is beautiful. The design, style and ambiance are excellent. It was only spoilt by an impromptu and inexplicable music increase for about 2 minutes before it was turned down. The service was also delightful, the staff are warm and friendly.
The bad - sadly, and frustratingly... the food. What used to be a place I would rush to is now one I will probably avoid. The bread (normally you can tell the quality of the restaurant by its bread offering) was left on the table with us with no explanation. Both the white and brown offering felt stale, and the end of the loaf. The starter; Mushroom focaccia, was average, it lacked seasoning and was on the colder side of lukewarm. The main; Duck, was a bit of a disaster. The breast itself was over both overcooked and undercooked, with the meat slightly over the “blushing stage” , whilst the fat was not correctly rendered and it was horribly chewy and almost impossible to eat. I will stress, I did finish the duck - minus some of the fat - because I hate the thought that an animal died to be thrown away. It was an unpleasant chore to eat, a sad end to a beautiful animal and a poor cookery mistake from, what was, an excellent restaurant. The desert was actually superb, raspberry and chocolate, I could have licked the plate. A fine finish to an otherwise underwhelming and disappointing meal.
They could have had a bad day, there could have been new staff in the kitchen - so please don’t judge by this review alone. However, it has definitely tarnished its reputation for me, I left feeling I had spend too much and received little in return.
