What Insiders Are Saying
Having dinner in Berners Tavern feels like eating inside the Sistine Chapel, or at least a really, really rich guy’s house.
Been here a couple of times for work lunches and dinners but this was my first social event here. Really good food, ambience and service.
Fine. Non issues. Could be less noisy ...
Stunning restaurant, impeccable service & beautiful food.
Whilst the food was extraordinarily expensive compared to what I would normally pay, the service and quality of food was far superior to anything I have experienced in the past.
The seating was excellent. We were placed in a corner of the restaurant which allowed for a panoramic view of the ceiling architecture, paintings and other decor within the building.
We visited for a special occassion (my partners 30th birthday and I intended on proposing in the evening) so I wanted it to be as memorable as possible. I am confident in saying Berner's Tavern will have helped that happen.
Normally I would go for at least 2-3 courses, but we opted for a pie & mash sharer. Bearing in mind the quality of food was supreme, the portion sizes were not what I was used to (although this was completely expected when dining on food of this quality). However with that in mind, the food was so flavoursome and enjoyable, neither my partner or I felt the need to order a dessert. It was so filling.
We asked for a wine recommendation to pair with the lamb pie, which was also lovely.
I would have liked to have been able to sample more from the menu, but the pie sharer was so fulfilling, to have eaten more would have probably been gluttonous. I would say a waste of money, but as previously stated, the food was amazing. So I don't think it would be fair to call it that...
Another important note, I mentioned that it was my partners 30th. Although we did not order dessert, our waiter was kind enough to bring out a complimentary and what I believe was a chocolate truffle dessert. With the plate artfully decorated with happy birthday.
Overall the experience, service and food was outstanding. I fully intend to visit in the future, I just wish I could afford to try more of what this tremendous restaurant has to offer!
Great for business meetings and groups. The food was far from spectacular but service was excellent. Not good at a ll on the vegan offering, which I'd expect to be great in a hotel like this.
Tolle Location, super Essen, Personal sehr freundlich. Einen Tick zu teuer aber für London eher normal.
Very good service. Excellent food especially the BLT which was a deconstructed version - therefore more salad than bread. The lunch deal is especially good value
Fantastic afternoon tea in a gorgeous setting, great service, company and the food was delicious can not fault it thankyou!
Beautiful place, great service and nice food. Would definitely recommend/repeat.
Such an amazing place to eat. The food and the room are stunning!!! Service is phenomenal but the room can get quite warm when it’s full. Oh
I had an amazing birthday dinner with friends and the food was incredible. The service was slick and attentive and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Thank you! I may come back just for the macaroni cheese!
Berners Tavern was the perfect venue for an ex-colleagues reunion! Great food, great wine and great company. Service was spot on too.
Food was great although options mainly very heavy and rich for May. Wine service on the other hand was chaotic which continued throught out the meal. There was no wine list offered until asked for it, starters came before we had a chance to order wine and the white or red drinkers confused through the meal. Friendly service though.
great value 'lunch at dinner' menu - lovely service, especially the somelier who was happy to talk to us about the wine we chose even though we werent going for anything fancy! overall a great spot for a glam date night
Berner's Tavern is wonderful. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the ambiance is awesome. It is large but open and the noise level was very low considering the size of the room. I took my daughter during our mother/daughter graduation trip and this was our last night and our celebration dinner. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant.
Our server Alex was awesome. He helped us with menu suggestions and was a great server. The staff all around was great and the food was so delicious. We had something so simple but so delicious which was probably the most delicious chicken we ever tasted.
I highly recommend Berner's Tavern!
Great location, good food and great service.
I really enjoyed it and I would recommend it to everyone.
This was our first time but we will definitely come back here again!
Berners was recommended by a friend and it was a great recommendation! The food and atmosphere were perfect, we can’t wait to return soon!
Lovely surroundings, great food (weekend roast menu), good service, good value food.
Only downside is very expensive drinks - cheapest Pomerol £145 a bottle! - but I guess they have to make their profit somehow.
I love this place for breakfast I need to come back for dinner sometime.
Stunning decor, great food, buzzy atmosphere. A great night out
We were looked after well, the lunch was tasty, mains portions are very small but good for dieters. Desserts were gorgeous! The surroundings are pleasing, staff attentive. It was my daughter's birthday which I had pre warned the restaurant about, they brought out a beautiful 'free' cake with candles, a birthday greeting was written on the plate, too much for us to eat, could have taken it home. Will go back again, I think it would be more atmospheric in the evenings.
Really great food and ambiance, as always. Expensive for lunch (as always). But really classy.
Best breakfast in London. Great service and setting.
Gorgeous venue but there are better breakfasts in town for the money
I have been to Berners Tavern at least a dozen times to eat and more to sit at the bar. It’s a gorgeous dining room with buzz and vibe. The last three or four times have been progressively more expensive and worse food and service. This last time will be, well, the last time. Food uninspired and wildly overpriced. Terrible sommelier recs and servers dropping trays near or on our guests. A meal for four eating off the set menu - £555. Absurd. Only for tourists now. Avoid and go to a real high end meal like Murano or Ledbury. Or two door down to Flesh and Buns. Yum! Fun, good food, nice people, joyful eating!!
Impressive room with high ornate ceilings and artwork filling walls. Prompt service and very well designed menu for a large number of covers. Every dish was very well executed. We chose from the set lunch menu which represented good value (generally and compared with the a la carte menu in particular) and reasonable choice. The staff were friendly and attentive, food came quickly, vibe is good and the high ceilings kept the noise down to an acceptable level despite lots of hard surfaces. All in all a great choice for lunch with a friend or group.
A great combination of ambiance and food make this one of the best places to eat in London.
The table was far too small, my fish and chips was a hefty portion but swimming in grease. I couldn't hear the person opposite. Wine mark up prices are far too high, though the wine list is excellent. The place itself is very attractive and the service is good and friendly. The choice of starters is poor and what I did have was unenjoyable. Bottom line is I won't be back.
Great place for business meetings - beautiful decor
Every thing which we ordered was so delicious. I recommend “Cod with lobster sauce” especially!
Visiting London for 2 days and found this gem amongst all the restaurants. Atmosphere was awesome, historic yet modern. Food was outstanding, not your typical everything is fried place. Well appointed. Made for a great evening after the theatre.
The most beautiful space in London. It’s a must visit spot. I would highly recommend a visit.
What a delightful evening. Amazing food and ambience and delightful service. Only complaint is that the wine menu is rather eye-wateringly expensive.
Always enjoy having dinner at Berners Tavern! They helped make this special occasion even better!
The food and service was exceptional and I would recommend Berners Tavern
A fantastic dining experience. Great food, service and atmosphere.
I came with my Mum for an afternoon and we loved our time at the Berners Tavern.
It was welcoming and friendly which I find isn’t always the case at higher end establishments. There was a buzz of happiness and staff helped to keep that alive with their attentiveness. That said, the service was as high and waiting staff were not intrusive with their attention. I would recommend and hope to return with my husband in the future.
Had a birthday lunch with my wife on arriving the staff took our coats and showed us to our table the space and the decor are amazing we had the set lunch menu which was fantastic my only negative was the wine list is vast and overwhelming if you’re not a wine buff and the cheapest bottle of white or red I could find was £35 so I was put off as didn’t have a clue about those particular wines.
Celebrated my wifes birthday here and this is just a very cool place to have a proper dinner. Noisy, Busy, Classy with a super wine list (allthough a bit steep in pricing) and a really British / London feel to it all. We will be back :-)
