What Insiders Are Saying
Having dinner in Berners Tavern feels like eating inside the Sistine Chapel, or at least a really, really rich guy’s house.
The menu wasn’t anything exciting - and quite overpriced for what we got.
Nice, laid back. Team gave us space but served us well.
This was a great place. The quality of the food was excellent but unfortunately it was cold . Not what you’d expect from a restaurant of this standing . I’ll definitely return and hope this was just an off day .
Breakfast menu very basic and not much choice. Avocado and eggs was very basic, nothing special about them at all. It also came within less than five minutes of us ordering, far too quick, we wanted to have a nice relaxed breakfast not in and out. Service was good very polite staff.
Disappointed at having to wait 45 minutes between starter being taken away and the main arriving which when it did was cold. Poor and overpriced wine and Had to ask several times to be served our wine when the glass had been empty for 5-10 minutes. Overall just a poor experience sorry. Definitely not worth the £400 bill.
Glamorous space and very good food. Perhaps not the best value for money, but the interior space makes up for it!
The interior is beautiful with high ceilings and amazing artwork on the walls, but the food is not to the standard we expected. The breakfast we had was very bland, and seven members of the party commenting on the tasteless stale bread.
Special thank to the italian waiter (from Naples) Who is really really kind and patient.
We met friends here for dinner on our last night in London. It was the perfect spot, lovely room, lively atmosphere, wonderful service from the servers and the sommelier, and incredible food. We were six people and they let us share multiple plates. Overall we had a great experience here.
Everything from the food to the service and ambience was superb...well worth a visit!
When we come to London, Berners Tavern is a must stop for dinner. One of our go to places. We’re never disappointed!
Lovely welcome and attentive staff. Fuss made of my father who’s birthday it was, which was very nice. One of our group found their lamb a little tough and the dish was changed with no problem. Negative comment only really the price of the wine!
Went for breakfast - lovely dining room and brought my friend a small cake for her birthday.
The clear goal of management is to provide lots of staff to meet the needs of their clientele. The unfortunate result is constant interruption from waiters asking to take your order and asking if you are done. We were asked to order before a drink order was taken. There is a dogmatic approach in London to a 2 hour dinner max. Unfortunately, the experience is exhausting. Berners has great ambiance and delicious food which makes us passable. Set the stage with your server upfront that you’ll move along and be out in 2 hours but you don’t want to be harassed.
We enjoyed our dinner experience, from fantastic attentive service, champagne cart, to food. Our pork chop and cod entrees were delicious!
Excellent quality food in a very nice restaurant, service was attentive. We went for the Sunday lunch and were very happy
Not the best meal I’ve had at a Jason Atherton restaurant. Disappointing
Food is on the whole good, let down by fairly average service by the waiting staff who you have to remind. Room looks great.
A bit disappointing as the service was subpar, there seemed to be a focus on trying to get us to make our selections to the chefs preferences as opposed to ours. I have visited in the past and it could be that the day of our attendance was an off day.
It was really great!
Everything is perfect.
Specially the service is good and the food is great as well! highly recommend
1st class in everything: food, service, environment and location.
classy, beautiful perfect service and delicious food. can you ask for more from a restaurant?
Had a lovely Sunday lunch.
The service was great. Will definitely be back
Food good. Service friendly but noticeable slow. Hate to eat there when the place is packed.
Rispetto all’anno scorso il
Menù è cambiato ed il cibo purtroppo non è più all’altezza dello splendido locale
Been here a couple of times for work lunches and dinners but this was my first social event here. Really good food, ambience and service.
We came in for my daughter’s birthday and from the moment we walked in, to the minute we left we were treated like royalty. We were a bit jetlag so we were given a shot of espresso to start. They even got my daughter a little present and a hand written card. Food was delicious, cake was exceptional! But the atmosphere and the service totally made our evening. I would recommend this place to anyone!
Fine. Non issues. Could be less noisy ...
Stunning restaurant, impeccable service & beautiful food.
We were celebrating a birthday and had informed the restaurant ahead of time. We had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time for our table to be ready. They instructed us to go over to the bar in the meantime, which we did, and where we proceeded to wait 20 minutes to be acknowledged and asked our order. When we were finally seated (with little acknowledgment of the notable delay), it took another 20 or so minutes to get the waiter over to our table, by which point we were famished! We asked for bread and butter right away and did not receive it until some time later. The service was slow the entire evening and our dinner ended up taking three hours (not by choice). What’s more, we had to ask for the check twice and they acknowledged the birthday only after we’d paid as another waiter saw in our table notes that we were there to celebrate. Very disappointing experience at an otherwise lovely spot.
Whilst the food was extraordinarily expensive compared to what I would normally pay, the service and quality of food was far superior to anything I have experienced in the past.
The seating was excellent. We were placed in a corner of the restaurant which allowed for a panoramic view of the ceiling architecture, paintings and other decor within the building.
We visited for a special occassion (my partners 30th birthday and I intended on proposing in the evening) so I wanted it to be as memorable as possible. I am confident in saying Berner's Tavern will have helped that happen.
Normally I would go for at least 2-3 courses, but we opted for a pie & mash sharer. Bearing in mind the quality of food was supreme, the portion sizes were not what I was used to (although this was completely expected when dining on food of this quality). However with that in mind, the food was so flavoursome and enjoyable, neither my partner or I felt the need to order a dessert. It was so filling.
We asked for a wine recommendation to pair with the lamb pie, which was also lovely.
I would have liked to have been able to sample more from the menu, but the pie sharer was so fulfilling, to have eaten more would have probably been gluttonous. I would say a waste of money, but as previously stated, the food was amazing. So I don't think it would be fair to call it that...
Another important note, I mentioned that it was my partners 30th. Although we did not order dessert, our waiter was kind enough to bring out a complimentary and what I believe was a chocolate truffle dessert. With the plate artfully decorated with happy birthday.
Overall the experience, service and food was outstanding. I fully intend to visit in the future, I just wish I could afford to try more of what this tremendous restaurant has to offer!
Great for business meetings and groups. The food was far from spectacular but service was excellent. Not good at a ll on the vegan offering, which I'd expect to be great in a hotel like this.
Tolle Location, super Essen, Personal sehr freundlich. Einen Tick zu teuer aber für London eher normal.
Very good service. Excellent food especially the BLT which was a deconstructed version - therefore more salad than bread. The lunch deal is especially good value
Fantastic afternoon tea in a gorgeous setting, great service, company and the food was delicious can not fault it thankyou!
Beautiful place, great service and nice food. Would definitely recommend/repeat.
Such an amazing place to eat. The food and the room are stunning!!! Service is phenomenal but the room can get quite warm when it’s full. Oh
I had an amazing birthday dinner with friends and the food was incredible. The service was slick and attentive and we didn’t feel rushed at all. Thank you! I may come back just for the macaroni cheese!
Berners Tavern was the perfect venue for an ex-colleagues reunion! Great food, great wine and great company. Service was spot on too.
