Big Easy Covent Garden
We proudly offer a large slice of easy going living, inspired by the Gulf Coast, with live bands 7 nights week, a friendly welcoming atmosphere, fresh cocktails, ice cold beers and generous portions of
good old home-style cooking offering Home-Smoked BBQ & Fresh East Lobsters.
Fast forward to today and we continue to uphold those time-honoured traditions; social occasions of the bygone age, friends getting together over great fresh food, plentiful drinks and music - these never go out of fashion.
Love this place. Got a nice warm welcome from the reception staff. Starters of ribs and calamari were really good . Enjoyed my main meal, the roast seafood platter, but there was very little meat in the lobster and it was rather dry, as if it had been standing around for a while. The other items tasted fresh and delicious. My dining partner really enjoyed his steak and the chips were lovely.
Service was generally good tho the staff were very busy and seemed a little waiter was a young Hungarian man who was pleasant and efficient.
Food was ok nothing amazing but tasty, service was quite slow but it was very busy. Would come back.
Good service .Nice atmosphere.I chose lobster bake which was a bit pricey and very messy .Overall a good dining experience.
We got our food before we got our drinks.............
I had seen reviews on poor service but thought it would be worth trying as some people can be very fussy. However, on arriving although we had a booking we still had to wait for 10 mins to get our table we were not given priority over walk ups.
In terms of service people that arrived after us and the couple who were immediately in front of us in the queue for tables had received their meal before our order was taken and finished and paid before our meal arrived. Items ordered for the main course didn't arrive immediately we were half way through eating before they arrived, and one item didn't arrive until we further prompted. To further show the inconsistent service, the table beside us arrived 5-10 mins after us but still had their order and food before us, from the same server. Later we had finished our meal and they hadn't but the server cleared their table before ours despite coming past us on a number of occasions. Given the slow service I mentioned to the server when ordering our desert I only wanted it if we could get it in time for us to leave by 7:10pm as we needed to leave to go to a show. I also asked could we get the bill now so we could pay then and be able to leave promptly. However at 7:05 we called another server over and explained we'd asked for the bill to be ready before 7:10 and that if we didn't get it we would walk out. The bill arrived and 7:08 but we all felt very harassed and this was supposed to be a birthday treat. Not that is was a big bother but I was called after making the booking and asked if there was a special occasion which there was and I as told a candle would come on the desert and they would sing happy birthday, which didn't happen although as we were leaving another table did get exactly that.
In terms of food things like slaw quantities were small but expensive. Lobster was not well prepared, the brisket was ok but not as good as a real Texas BBQ which I've had in Dallas. The steak was the only saving item on the menu.
Busy friendly atmosphere on a Sat afternoon. Good food.
California Roll was disappointing, as was the squid. However the hot wings were out of this world. Food arrived soon after we ordered. Service was great!
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and overall I was pleased and so was he. As as a musician, he really enjoyed the guitar beats which were being played in the restaurant and the food was great. I will be returning:)
good service, good ambience, mediocre food.
I ordered burger the simplest thing and I asked specifically for medium rare. The waitress told me that it only comes to well done. I kindly asked for medium at least and she said okay. It was one of the worst burgers ever had. I only took 3-4 bites and I left half of it on the plate.
The other waitress asked if all was good and I said the burger was not good, it was not event medium rare like I asked for it. She said it comes only in well done.
I was a big fan of Big Easy but Never again.
After looking at website where it showed the discounted lunch offer was still available when we got there we were told this was not available any longer on Fridays, eventually the manager agreed to allow us to get the offer as online, being a regular of big easy this was time the food was not as good as usual and also not the same as on previous visits (smaller portions) which made us feel that we w ere being punished, maybe this was a one off as usually the food is excellent.
Otherwise atmosphere was good and would recommend giving the benefit of the doubt that the problems we encountered were a one off.
We sat downstairs it was packed and boiling hot. No fans or air con on. Got our food before our drinks which didn’t help when it was so hot
This is the place to go for well cooked BBQ and great but simple seafood. Always buzzing and a great place to start a big (or in our case) not so big night out!
It was great, just what I needed on a Tuesday. Thank you very much to the staff at Big Easy, you made it an enjoyable evening.
Still the best American place in town......😈😈😈
Restaurant is located in a very nice and vibrant area, it's very easy to find the place.
Great experience, awesome meaty pork ribs. Everything was finger licking good!
Our 4th time eating here, some issues and confusion with our order which took a long time to straighten out, but credit to management who resolved the situation to our satisfaction. Not the experience we were used to but would return due to management team showing some leadership
The new waiters could not understand what my party had ordered. The food was incorrect and had to be sent back and the others food became cold whilst waiting for the correct order. Then towards the end the waiters asked us to move as they needed the table back to fit a larger group. This was inconvenient and staff were rude. My party was not comfortable with moving and staff kept changing their story that we had a time limit to eat and leave .. first they said 1 hour then when we mentioned we had been there for over an hour they changed it to two hours and then said receptionists made an error placing us there. When the manager came over she was patronising telling us about how restaurants in central london work... when she was only 20 years old and living in London a year. What does she knoe about customer service. In the end we refused to move and i was not satisfied thus i was not going to pay for a meal i didnt order or eat and rude inconvenient staff. I will not be going back to that branch. Otherwise the food was nice.
We have been at Big Easy Canary Wharf and everything was great (food, customer service, restaurant)
Totally opposite experience at Covent Garden.
Food undercooked, table very close to eachother, service ok but not as good as at Canary Wharf.
Would I visit Covent Garden Big Easy again.... not
Very very loud. Food was good but atmosphere was too intense for me.
I had an amazing time , we went for my grandmothers birthday , and the service was amazing. They said food would come in 20 mins and it came in 13. Food was well seasoned and all food was warm and just the right portion. Would really recommend it
Great place, good service. We went with two children age 9 & 6 who loved it. Food was great !
Amazing!!! We had one of the best nights the food was beautiful and definitely topped by the service, everyone was extremely helpful and the waitress came back regularly and made sure we were happy every time. Hands down the best service I have ever received!!
Quality of food has deteriorated. Very average. Service was excellent.
We visited for my sons birthday. The team surprised him by singing happy birthday to him and presented him with desert with a candle, this was a nice touch. My negative feedback was more so around the food. We had voodoo wings for starters which were fine. For our mains we had half lobster, prawns in breadcrumbs, ribs and they came with fries and salad. The prawns had absolutely no taste whatsoever, very bland, the coating wouldn’t stick properly so everything separated from the prawns and not even the prawns were seasoned. The ribs were dry, not moist or tender. The lobster was mushy and cold. Great attentive staff but let down by the food tonight.
Ordered a fillet steak medium rare, it came out rare and a good vet could’ve got it back to life. Ordered a pint of moretti and was shocked that a barman had actually let it leave the bar it was that dead. Would try something else on the menu to give another chance
Everyone enjoyed the visit - speaker above the table was a little loud but good music - their fillet and lobster was unavailable unless I ordered the largest fillet so I had a burger instead
Waiter was rude, he was very inpatient! I saw him talk badly about our table to his colleagues!
We had to keep asking for every single think, ketchup, mayo, straws, salt, pepper etc! It’s like they couldn’t be bothered with our table as it was a late booking at 10am but if that’s the case they shouldn’t take any bookings at that time.
The glasses and cutlery were so dirty!
I’ve always been a fan of big easy but I usually eat at the kings road branch....
I will never be eating at the Covent Garden brand again!!
The latest in many good visits to BE and so disappointing.
Mussels and bread burnt. Spicy sauce odd flavour. Corn muffin burnt.
Compaining takes the edge off what is supposed to be a pleasurable experience .
To add to the already unpleasant experience we were charged for the 'included' drinks so the bill had to be redone.
Monday all you can eat bbq deal
Good vibes, good food. Happy Hour drink selection limited. I ordered Half a lobster and steak, the lobster was extremely small for the price, garlic marinade lovely. The steak was cooked to perfection. 8/10
We had the bottomless BBQ brunch with frozen monitors. The food was delicious, particularly liked the ribs. Service was a bit slow to start with, only 1 waiter in our area when it was quite busy, but after about half an hour another waitress was added to the area and the service greatly improved, these things happen when it's busy. Would definitely go back.
Good food when it eventually came...
Terrible service getting drinks, restaurant couldn't cope with being busy.
Service was very slow and all drinks orders went via bar even though we were having bottomless brunch. Did not get full amount of allocated time due to wait for drinks and was sat waiting for up to 15 minutes each time we ordered. I’m comparison to Canary Wharf restaurant this was very poor
Starters were ok just a bit overcooked but main was fantastic! Cocktails delicious.
We had reslly good service and they were very friendly! We had no problem at all with waiting times inbetween starter and main.
It is loud but I really liked the vibe and music.
We will definitely be returning!
We booked in advance and was offered a table for two with no space around it, I couldn't even get in the seat without two other table moving their chairs. I do not know how the waitress would have served our meal. I asked if we could moved table as I didn't think that it was an acceptable table to offer someone when the have pre booked. Our waitress was lovely and friendly
It is what it is. Bit of a chain feel. Food was average and nothing special. I think the atmosphere was better if you are near where the band plays. If I’m honest I don’t think we’ll be rushing back. Wasn’t terrible but definitely wasn’t the best either.
This was a good experience.
My party consisted of five people and the restaurant was almost at capacity, both upstairs and downstairs.
The staff were attentive and did a great job despite the restaurant being so busy. I was expecting delays or mistakes in our order but the staff excelled; not one mistake and the food and drinks arrived in a timely manner.
I couldn't decide on what to have so I had it all: "The Taste-O-Rama". It consists of Pit-Smoked BBQ Chicken, Dry-Rubbed, St Louis Pork Ribs & Carolina Pulled Pork. For an extra £2 you can add the Texas Brisket or Texas Hot Links Sausage, I added the brisket as I hadn't eaten all day in anticipation of this meal.
I was not disappointed the meat had a great smoky taste and each meat has unique flavours. I had to give away a piece of my chicken as I'd reached capacity; perhaps the addition of the "Texas Brisket" was a little too greedy of me.
Later on in the evening, country music was piped through the restaurant. It was already difficult to have a conversation due to the ambient noise of the other diners, now it was almost impossible to have a conversation with my dinner guests; fortunately we had already finished eating and decided to find somewhere else for a quiet drink.
If you plan to dine here: Wear your stretchy pants!
Had amazing food and a great time
The meal was really good as was the service. Great atmosphere, although the tables are very close to each other, which I do appreciate has something to do with the popularity of the restaurant and it does ensure that you don’t have to turn people away. Would certainly book again.
