Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar
Considering this is supposed to be fine dining , we were very disappointed and had to make more than 1 complaint . Little more than jazzed up canteen food . Vegetables served with no imagination and no seasoning. Steak had very uninspiring sauce and a half cooked mushroom and tomato is just a lazy accompaniment. Chips uncooked and less than hot . Peach and sponge pudding was a fiasco with a raw slice of peach and very dry sponge . £30 bottle of pinot noir was tasteless. The service was excellent and most apologetic but my partners birthday was ruined . We received an apology from the chef and a discount but this is not good enough. Avoid
We were happy to be back at bishops and was welcomed as if we were family.
The service was first class. The food was wonderful as was the wine.
We love going there and will go again.
It is a very special place for fine dining and one I would highly recommend.
The warm greeting from Alessandro starts the whole wonderful evening off perfectly.
Fantastic as always. Great food. Can’t wait to go back
Fine food, beautifully presented. It is all absolutely charming. The menu is very brief so this isn't for the fussy/picky eater but it will suit the health/weight conscious who want to eat well without it costing the earth. I think it is by far the best venue in Norwich.
Simply the best food and service around. We travel from Cambridge regularly to have lunch at Bishops. Exemplary.
This is the second time to dine. We are local and the owner recognised and gave us warm welcome. Food is always good.
Great food , wiring staff were friendly and quick
This was not our first visit to Bishops and won't be our last. It was amazing as ever. One of our favourite places to eat in Norwich.
We took friends here as a ‘thank you’ - their choice, they hadn’t been before. We had but wouldn’t have gone back.
This evening was very poor value. At £33 for 2 courses (£39 for 3) it was vastly over-priced. The extras on this “set price” menu came to £31.50 which included 2 medium sized bowls of vegetables at £4.50 each! My personal choice was the partridge (3 slices, which came with charred onion) and my share of the veg, followed by rice pudding. That was it for £33. We had one bottle of Picpoul (£28) which was nothing special and 4 small Peronis. The whole bill came to £230 for 4!! We didn’t stay for coffee, but did get the petite fours.
Why on earth offer a set price menu and keep adding? Spread the cost of the extras across the whole meal instead perhaps.
Also, tables are far too close together and therefore becomes quite noisy.
Needless to say, we won’t be back and if we are looking for high end dining in Norwich we would go to Hickman’s or Stoke Mill (Stoke Holy Cross), where the food and ambience is of a higher quality.
My daughter and I had lunch to celebrate her birthday.
Absolutely delicious!! Every mouthful was a delight, full of flavour and beautifully presented.
I'm not someone who takes photos of my food, but I just couldn't help myself.
We really will be back!
Superb food. Excellent host and fantastic staff. Lovely surroundings and ambiance. All round a charming experience, thank you
This is one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Norwich. The service is personal and sincere. The food is delicious and the wine fantastic.
This wasn’t our first visit and won’t be our last. From the moment we walked in the door we are made to feel like one of the family. The restaurant isn’t massive which makes it a lovely romantic place.
The food was superb and the service is excellent and friendly.
We look forward to our next visit.
Fantastic service, made to feel very comfortable and friendly. Food was fantastic, absolutely faultless. Will definitely recommend and be returning.
Very good food and drink as always. The staff are very good and friendly without being over the top.
Bishops is great experience for anyone who appreciates great service from the time you walk in, & amazing food with a great wine selection.
The coley with shrimp bisque was outstanding along with the pulled pork ravioli
You will not be disappointed in the slightest if you choose to eat at Bishops.
Outstanding as always.
One of our favourite places to eat. Lovely staff and fantastic food.
Again a wonderful lunch with beautiful food, delicious wine and impeccable service. Our favourite place for a romantic meal. We always relax and enjoy our ‘dates’ at Bishops.
We had absolutely fabulous starters but tha main course was a disappointment. My husband sent his fish back as over cooked. I had the pheasant which was really dry with not much taste. However the vegetables were lovely. They did replace the fish but it wasn't much better, if anything it was undercooked. The serving staff were really nice and polite. The dessert was wonderful too. To compensate they did only charge for two courses but I don't think we will return.
It was a special occasion for us and it more than lived up to expectations. We couldn't fault it, and the food was really excellent
Bishops is such a lovely establishment. It has a real exclusive feel about it, like its something a bit special. The food we had was superb, beautifully presented and very tasty and the champagne that was recommended was also lovely. The staff were very attentive and overall was a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. Would definitely go back.
Celebrating wedding anniversary and a birthday in a lovely restaurant enjoying excellent food
A warm welcome on relatively quiet mid week lunchtime.
High quality bistro food, good bottle of Italian red.
Beautiful food and brilliant service from very helpful staff. A genuine treat
Booked for a birthday meal with the wife and it was wonderful.
The food was tasted lovely and was beautifully presented. The staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Would highly reccomend.
Only ever had excellent food at this restaurant. Wonderful host and good service.
Excellent service and food, we both enjoyed our evening. Pigeon and pork were both perfectly cooked. My favourite was the rice pudding for dessert. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Disappointed with food , £22.00 for two courses set menu
Really enjoyed our anniversary dinner. Will recommend it to friends. The venison and scallops were exceptional.
Fabulous as always, however there was a very noisy table of 4 in, not the restaurants fault of course, but this ruined our romantic dinner. Food was fabulous as always.
Everything from start to finish was superb, thank you
As usual the food and service at this great restaurant were excellent, whilst the quiet ambience allowed conversations without the need to raise ones voice. The lunch menu always offers enticing options and on this occasion I particularly enjoyed the Beef Shin that fell apart when touched and was served with a delicious creamy mash. This truly is a gem of a restaurant.
We had a lovely evening here. Drink at the bar and chatting to otghers there before moving to our table where we had a excellent meal with a very good wine. Staff ere excellent throughout the evening
Lunchtime business meeting, great food, good service, friendly atmosphere, good value, what could be better.
Bishop's is a regular for my wife and me and we are never disappointed. Food and service were good, but the noise level was higher than usual, as it was Christmas celebration time for several of the others ! No problem, so will be back early in the New Year.
Perhaps the best overall dining experience I have had this year. Imaginative and really well cooked food from a menu with enough but not too much choice. Freshest ingredients. Attentive service when needed but not over the top. Tables are big enough not to be crowded. Recommend this highly.
Always a lovely evening with great food and very good service.
Another perfect evening of fine food, wine and excellent service. Our favourite place to eat in Norwich.
Fantastic food and exceptional value in beautiful surroundings. Will definitely be going back.
Alex was the perfect host as always.
