The restaurant is a lovely intimate location, great ambience and friendly staff. Menu options were good- presentation, smell and flavour of the food was lovely the only criticism I could give is it is overpriced for what you get. I have been to other fine dining and Michelin star restaurants where I have paid less and received more.
Imaginative and tasty food. Excellent service. Would happily go again and again.
Service was very very slow- our table was booked for 7.30 and we didn’t get our starters until 8.15, our main courses were brought to us at 9.00 and although we were happy chatting to each other at the table, it was a very long and drawn out meal. The restaurant was very busy but even so, I didn’t expect such slow, poor service. We have eaten here many times and this was by far, the worst evening we have had there. Unfortunately, none of us enjoyed the food as we have done in the past. So sorry to be this negative but it is, sadly, the truth on this occasion.
We had an excellent evening with friends. Food was varied and beautifully prepared and presented. The service was attentive but never in your face. The seating did feel a little cramped as it filled up but not so much as to spoil the evening. Will definitely use again, particularly for anniversary meals and other special occasions.
Fantastic as always
Great food, great service. Menu had sufficient choice of beautifully cooked food.
The food, wine and service are excellent - simply the best place to eat in Norwich
Decided to finally go to Bishops after hearing good things and wow I wasn't disappointed. Food was exceptional, great selection of wine. The recommendation for the dessert wine with my dessert was spot on.
We came for Norfolk restaurant week but will definitely be back again. This was an outstanding meal, with attention to detail and friendly service. Truly felt special.
Excellent food and thank you for the great service and the chat
Very disappointed, this is our second visit. The food and presentation was on the whole good but the portion size was appalling even for a fine fining restaurant which you expect it to be about the fine food but the main course looked like a starter, with the set menu having supplements. The venue is romantic and quiet allowing you to chat but it seems profit driven and not value for money which is a shame because the atmosphere is lovely. If someone had planned a special night and saved to do so they would feel let down. We opted to finish our meal early and not have a desert , the card machine appeared at the speed of light! Our first visit was lovely and we were keen to return but we wont be returning for quite a while which we personally feel is a shame
Excellent food and made to feel very welcome. Delicious wine too!
Exceptional value for money and an extensive quality wine list in a bijou setting. Very good indeed.
I had eaten here about a year ago and was mightily impressed. My dining companion this time really knows his food and won't hesitate to criticise (usually validly) so it was with some trepidation that I took him here. I needn't have worried. His lobster pasta and lamb he expressed to be perfect but, to make sure, he tucked into a corner of my beef fillet and endorsed my view that it was remarkably flavoursome, perfectly cooked and so tender that it would cut with a spoon (we tried that too). I can't vouch for the puddings though my companion had chocolate fondant which looked and smelt just right. He wouldn't let me try any of that. I did however beg the restaurant for the vegetarian starter as a pud and, as it was founded on goat cheese and curd, it was a fantastic way of ending dinner with the last of a really nice Rioja. Norwich is a long way away for most of us but it's a terrific city for a visit and Bishop's Dining Room is a lovely, discreet and welcoming place to eat when there.
I selected Bishops as this was a special birthday for my wife. We have visited on previous special occasions and always found the venue very welcoming yet intimate. The food has always been exceptional and the lunchtime menu very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
Another amazing visit to Bishops. Superb food and service. Perfect.
The best restaurant in Norwich in my opinion, by far.
I have been many times with each time it’s been a delight.
Very small portions! Definitely not for the price and for the 1 hour wait!
My husband and I had a wonderful evening for our anniversary. From the minute we were welcomed by Alex everything was superb. The girls serving us were first rate and extremely attentive. The food and wine were faultless and cannot wait to return.
Brilliant restaurant, the staff and the owner Alessandro are fantastic, never been disappointed.
Had an amazing evening ..... food was delicious and great value! Wine was also good but only 1 bottle left so had to choose something different which wasn't quite as good! Didnt spoil a great evening thank you Alex and team ♥️
Really really lovely meal - lots of tasty sounding options on the menu and a relaxed but elegant atmosphere but above all the food was incredibly tasty. The wine selection was extensive and delicious. Service was fab; staff were present to top up drinks but certainly not intrusive. I would love to come back again for another special occasion.
Very nice meal, although meat and fish eaters options were better. The vegetarian option was a little underwhelming. Intimate and cosy restaurant.
The service and food was impeccable. Highly recommended!
A great restaurant in the centre of Norwich. Friendly staff, delicious food and reasonably priced. Booking essential as very small although we managed to book on the day. Definitely recommend.
Absolutely spot on for a romantic dinner. Great food and great service.A shame somebody thought it a good idea to bring a tired 18month old baby in to a restaurant in the evening. Spoilt what would have been the perfect meal .
Nice touch having the toothbrushes available in the rest room .
Excellent meal and service but evening somewhat spoilt by large party dining behind us who were increasingly becoming drunk and more noisy by the minute. Unfortunately the staff were unable to resolve the situation so we left earlier than planned.
Tables to close together. We where about a foot from the next table. Was really awkward when we first sat down.
It was our first time eating at Bishops Wine Bar and it was superb. The staff from the moment we walked in made us feel welcome and warm. The food was amazing and we both loved the evening together.
Thank you for a superb evening.
Really lovely experience for a birthday celebration. Great food and lovely service
Wonderful service and attention to detail. Will definitely be returning
We always eat well at Bishop’s. This time the food was delicious, especially the hot chocolate fendant and mango sorbet! Very good service, thanks Amelia.
Lovely food, but felt cramped and the service was poor. Forgot our drinks order, bread, to tell us a dish was no longer available and coffees
Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar is my favourite restaurant in the Norwich area and is very much my first choice for an evening out with family and friends (as well as entertaining business colleagues and/ or customers). The food here is always excellent and Alessandro (the owner) ensures that all of his guests are made to feel extremely welcome. The waiting staff are equally warm and friendly and perfectly compliment the relaxed atmosphere (without compromising what is always a very professional and efficient level of service). Whilst the Norwich area now boasts several exceptionally good restaurants, in my view, Bishop’s offers the best value fine dining experience for all occasions.
First time we had been after hearing good things, and it was excellent.
Food was delicious, service was friendly but unobtrusive.
Not a cheap restaurant but if you want food as good as that you have to pay for it.
Wine list fairly priced as well.
Delicious food, excellent service and the best wine list in Norwich. A very enjoyable birthday celebration on Tuesday.
As always the quality of service and food was exceptional. Lunch menu was varied and extremely good value. Many Thanks.
Beautiful place, delicious food, brilliant wine and overall great atmosphere..will be coming back with friends
This is our favourite restaurant in Norwich . Always a warm welcome with cool champagne and fantastic food presented beautifully and served with a smile .
Be back soon !!
Absolutely fantastic, the food was faultless, the staff extremely friendly and the price was astonishing. Such good value for such high quality food! The ambiance of the restaurant is very cosy and romantic which was perfect for us on our date night. The tables are a good space apart, we felt our conversation was still private.
