Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar
Excellent. Food and service was faultless. Our favourite restaurant in the city.
Such a beautifully relaxed evening. Food was delicious and service was superb. Will definitely be back.
Delicious food and very friendly service. The menu is inventive and seasonal.
Can get quite busy in the evenings so an early dinner is best for a more peaceful dinner.
Excellent place for a special occasion meal!
Arrived early and was greeted as soon as possible, offered drinks and bar snacks. Manager/Owner was friendly made us feel welcome and gave us menus and took our orders in good time. Bar area is small but adequate for the size of restaurant creating a cosy atmosphere. We were taken through to the restaurant on Time and bread was provided immediately. Service was good and an empty glass was spotted by the very good staff and replacement offered without having to flag a member of staff down. All food was of a very good standard and no prolonged waits between meals. The restaurant was a bit noisy on the night we were there but people were having a good time and enjoying themselves so I’m okay with that. Didn’t feel rushed to leave after we finished our meal and gents may enjoy the artwork in the washroom. Toothpicks at the bar and toothbrushes and toothpaste provided in washroom, nice touch. A big thank you to all at Bishops for a lovely evening.
A lovely bijou place with a wonderful welcome. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink at the bar before being shown to our table. The menu was varied and the wine list very extensive to suit all tastes and budget.
A friendly welcome, intimate setting and excellent service. The menu was tempting and the quality of food very good. Also good value for fine dining. We’ll definitely be back with friends.
Staff were very professional, friendly and well informed. Food was good although for our palette with a little too much seasoning. Very well presented. Surroundings are ok but don't stand out. It went from being very quiet to noisy when a large group came in but that didn't affect our overall experience. £9.00 for a glass of ok wine I thought was a bit steep. I would recommend it to others.
We put a 'birthday present' voucher towards this, our first visit. We are looking forward to seeing you again though. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening with you and we will be back!
Excellent meal to celebrate a special occasion. Fixed price menu, the food was so tasty, everything zinged with flavour. The owner’s personal service was exemplary - polite, very friendly and attentive. We loved the whole experience. Very reasonable wine prices by the glass with a great selection.
Excellent food and service in a friendly atmosphere. Great value for money. Recommended unhesitatingly.
Always a fabulous welcome by Allessdro and his team.
Charming dining room and wine bar. Beautiful ambiance. Friendly staff. Good value delicious food. Highly recommend.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday and enjoyed an amazing meal. The food, wine and service were excellent. Would highly recommend, and will definitely be visiting again. Thankyou for a brilliant celebration.
Wonderful evening with my hubby. Food was delicious. Will be back!
Some excellent dishes, food of a high standard generally. Unfortunately too loud and service inconsistent (20 mins to be offered a drink).
Normally we have a brilliant time at Bishops, but this time we were very disappointed. Unfortunately there was a huge party of approximately 25 people and 2 other tables. The noise in such a small restaurant was so bad we could hardly talk to each other and because the table had so many people on it the service was really slow and our meal took forever. I feel that in future if there is such a large party they should not take any more bookings.
As usual excellent food. Enjoyed our evening tremendously.
As usual, a lovely meal
My 1st time there & was not disappointed food & service was excellent will definitely be going back
An excellent restaurant with a relaxed and intimate feel. The service and food were really good. There’s a good wine list which is drawn mainly from the Old World.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening! The service staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious & well presented, a perfect meal had by all!
It was a shame we had to book so early when no other customers entered the restaurant until 7.30pm, however we were not looking for a late reservation, just 6pm was a little too early especially when we sat on our own for so long. That said we did not feel awkward and like we needed to be quiet etc.
Cumin donuts were delicious and the bread was very good... Starter and main were both very tasty and well balanced but dessert was definitely disappointing, especially the chocolate one that I had, the sorbet was watery, parfait and fondant were tasty but it was not put together well considering how every other dish was so well thought out, texture and taste wise.
Service was very informal, pleasant and polite, the lack of soft drink choices was a shame in a nicer restaurant but my husbands wine was very nice and a great price too.
Excellent value for money all round.
We would definitely visit again but just avoid the dessert course.
A really lovely place with brilliant food, ambience, service and atmosphere. It’s a very cosy and romantic restaurant, great for dates or special occasions.
I’ve been many times over the years and I’ve never had a bad meal or been disappointed.
It’s a great restaurant!
Absolutely amazing! Great good, very attentive and friendly service! All in all its brilliant!!
Enjoyed the food and wine. We had to rush, due to a later appointment. We felt very welcome although service was. Bit short of the mark at this price point.
The restaurant is a lovely intimate location, great ambience and friendly staff. Menu options were good- presentation, smell and flavour of the food was lovely the only criticism I could give is it is overpriced for what you get. I have been to other fine dining and Michelin star restaurants where I have paid less and received more.
Imaginative and tasty food. Excellent service. Would happily go again and again.
Service was very very slow- our table was booked for 7.30 and we didn’t get our starters until 8.15, our main courses were brought to us at 9.00 and although we were happy chatting to each other at the table, it was a very long and drawn out meal. The restaurant was very busy but even so, I didn’t expect such slow, poor service. We have eaten here many times and this was by far, the worst evening we have had there. Unfortunately, none of us enjoyed the food as we have done in the past. So sorry to be this negative but it is, sadly, the truth on this occasion.
We had an excellent evening with friends. Food was varied and beautifully prepared and presented. The service was attentive but never in your face. The seating did feel a little cramped as it filled up but not so much as to spoil the evening. Will definitely use again, particularly for anniversary meals and other special occasions.
Fantastic as always
Great food, great service. Menu had sufficient choice of beautifully cooked food.
The food, wine and service are excellent - simply the best place to eat in Norwich
Decided to finally go to Bishops after hearing good things and wow I wasn't disappointed. Food was exceptional, great selection of wine. The recommendation for the dessert wine with my dessert was spot on.
We came for Norfolk restaurant week but will definitely be back again. This was an outstanding meal, with attention to detail and friendly service. Truly felt special.
Excellent food and thank you for the great service and the chat
Very disappointed, this is our second visit. The food and presentation was on the whole good but the portion size was appalling even for a fine fining restaurant which you expect it to be about the fine food but the main course looked like a starter, with the set menu having supplements. The venue is romantic and quiet allowing you to chat but it seems profit driven and not value for money which is a shame because the atmosphere is lovely. If someone had planned a special night and saved to do so they would feel let down. We opted to finish our meal early and not have a desert , the card machine appeared at the speed of light! Our first visit was lovely and we were keen to return but we wont be returning for quite a while which we personally feel is a shame
Excellent food and made to feel very welcome. Delicious wine too!
Exceptional value for money and an extensive quality wine list in a bijou setting. Very good indeed.
I had eaten here about a year ago and was mightily impressed. My dining companion this time really knows his food and won't hesitate to criticise (usually validly) so it was with some trepidation that I took him here. I needn't have worried. His lobster pasta and lamb he expressed to be perfect but, to make sure, he tucked into a corner of my beef fillet and endorsed my view that it was remarkably flavoursome, perfectly cooked and so tender that it would cut with a spoon (we tried that too). I can't vouch for the puddings though my companion had chocolate fondant which looked and smelt just right. He wouldn't let me try any of that. I did however beg the restaurant for the vegetarian starter as a pud and, as it was founded on goat cheese and curd, it was a fantastic way of ending dinner with the last of a really nice Rioja. Norwich is a long way away for most of us but it's a terrific city for a visit and Bishop's Dining Room is a lovely, discreet and welcoming place to eat when there.
I selected Bishops as this was a special birthday for my wife. We have visited on previous special occasions and always found the venue very welcoming yet intimate. The food has always been exceptional and the lunchtime menu very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
