Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar is my favourite restaurant in the Norwich area and is very much my first choice for an evening out with family and friends (as well as entertaining business colleagues and/ or customers). The food here is always excellent and Alessandro (the owner) ensures that all of his guests are made to feel extremely welcome. The waiting staff are equally warm and friendly and perfectly compliment the relaxed atmosphere (without compromising what is always a very professional and efficient level of service). Whilst the Norwich area now boasts several exceptionally good restaurants, in my view, Bishop’s offers the best value fine dining experience for all occasions.
First time we had been after hearing good things, and it was excellent.
Food was delicious, service was friendly but unobtrusive.
Not a cheap restaurant but if you want food as good as that you have to pay for it.
Wine list fairly priced as well.
Delicious food, excellent service and the best wine list in Norwich. A very enjoyable birthday celebration on Tuesday.
As always the quality of service and food was exceptional. Lunch menu was varied and extremely good value. Many Thanks.
Beautiful place, delicious food, brilliant wine and overall great atmosphere..will be coming back with friends
This is our favourite restaurant in Norwich . Always a warm welcome with cool champagne and fantastic food presented beautifully and served with a smile .
Be back soon !!
Absolutely fantastic, the food was faultless, the staff extremely friendly and the price was astonishing. Such good value for such high quality food! The ambiance of the restaurant is very cosy and romantic which was perfect for us on our date night. The tables are a good space apart, we felt our conversation was still private.
An absolutely fantastic night, great food, great service. We went for a birthday celebration I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Portion sizes perfect that makes you appreciate the flavour more. I had the venison carpaccio and salmon. Lovely interior and very nice wine to complement the starter and main course. Service also attentive and prompt
I took my parents for an anniversary celebration & the food & service were exemplary. It's our favourite place to dine in Norwich. the staff have a great knowledge of the wines they sell & which foods the y compliment the best. We've already booked our next visit!
I took my mum here for a Mother's Day treat, she had the cod croquettes, chicken and the cinnamon and apple cake. I had the pork belly, chicken and Bailey's cheesecake. The food was faultless, full of flavour and delicious. The portions were a nice size big enough to feel full but not too full.
It was great value for money and I would definitely recommend it if looking for somewhere nice for a special occasion.
Mu husband brought me here for my birthday, and it was the best tasting food I have had in a while!
Gorgeous flavours and just the right amount of food (even though first glance it looked like quit small portions!).
Yummy Argentinian wine - so good we had 2 bottles!
It was snowing in Norwich that night, and the ambience / view outside was very pretty - a very special evening for us :)
Superb lunch menu. Very attentive and pleasant staff. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful food lovely atmosphere and great service
Our first time on one of our many visits to Norwich. Great ambience, food, service and value. We'll definitely be back, and soon.
Some really lovely food, beautifully presented. The staff were excellent, relaxed but they knew what they were doing. Would definitely go back
My favourite restaurant in Norwich, without doubt ! Ambience excellent and value for money
unbelievable. Food is served professionally and tastes good. Alex knows his wines and provides
a variable Wine List at sensible prices. My wife and I had the Three Course Set Lunch - there are
choices for each course - at the very reasonable cost of £19.95 with each course perfect. The wine chosen in this instant cost £120.00 a bottle, but was something I had wished to sample for
many years !!!
Could not fault anything about our dining experience.
First visit, will definitely dine there again, you must try it!
A Christmas treat from my daughter and son in law, a cosy and lively venue absolutely perfect.
We had spotted Bishop's on a previous trip and decided to go because it looked both both cosy and serious about food, we were not disappointed! We were made to feel very welcome, the ambience was great and the seasonally influenced and expertly produced menu choices were sufficiently restricted to guarantee quality. The staff are great, we can't wait to return. By the way you can almost move from taxi to restaurant interior in two steps.
Had a great evening. The staff were all attentive and knowledgeable and the food was wonderful. Will definitely be going back
Outstanding again, I am sure the food improves every time we visit.
We have been visiting since this place opened and it continually evolves, you will never tire of the ambience, great food and wonderful attention to detail.
We always have a lovely occasion here. The ambience is just right....Alex gets it spot on. Great tasty unfussy food and a good wine list to complement. Probably my favourite dining experience in the fine city of Norwich.
Service was great with friendly attentive waitresses. Food was delicious and ambience both cosy and buzzing.
We visited for lunch. The food was excellent, the service prompt and attentive and the meal not expensive. Would use it as a lunch time option again.
Fantastic food the staff are very attentive and the service is smooth and faultless. A very special evening. The atmosphere and lighting are fantastic. I would recommend to anyone for a special meal out
As anticipated, Bishop’s gave six of us celebrating a birthday a really enjoyable evening. The food was first-class and the service, if possible, even better. We were able to relax with very good wine and a lovely atmosphere. It would have been hard to improve on it.
Bishop's Dining Room & Wine Bar is one of my favourite places to eat and drink in Norwich. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service is first class and friendly, and the choice and quality of the food and wine is always excellent. For fine dining, I would also consider the set prices available for 2 and 3 courses to be tremendous value. I would not hesitate to recommend Bishop's for any number of occasions from a romantic meal for two, a special treat for the family, business, or an evening with friends.
Execellent hosting, great wine list, wonderful ambiance, first class food from start to finish
The best all round dining experience in Norwich
Have eaten at Bishops over a number of years and have never been disappointed.
The food was delicious but rather sparce in quantity. The service was good but lacking in bon amie...... The restaurant itself hasn't changed at all since our last visit about 3 years ago. When I booked I was asked if it was a special occasion Indeed it was....my husband's birthday this was never mentioned. There was certainly a lack of warmth towards the customers.
Our first visit to Bishop's and I had high expectations for a special birthday lunch.
Lovely atmosphere, welcoming and comfortable. Vegetarian and gluten-free options were available, both of which we needed, - but this meant no choice for my vegetarian daughter.
Starters were uninspiring, although good gluten-free bread was available.
None of the main courses really appealed to me but 3 of us went with venison sausages. Bangers and mash was not really what I had in mind for a special occasion! Sausages were burnt and dry and there was not nearly enough of the delicious rich gravy.
Puddings were delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal: chocolate cheesecake and lemon posset are highly recommended.
We have been to Bishops several times now and each time the standard has been excellent. The service was absolutely perfect- attentive and friendly to exactly the right degree. I observed the two waitresses having conversations with other diners who clearly were enjoying the atmosphere as we were.
The food was delicious , and was served with no delay.
All in all , I would highly recommend Bishops , and it is our favourite place for dinner in Norwich.
Excellent evening out. Everything just dandy. Service and food outstanding.
The food was beautifully prepared and presented and cannot be faulted. The duck in particular was a triumph. We would have ordered desert, but the dining area is very small and we were unfortunately sitting next to a small group of very noisy and excitable people which made conversation between the two of us very difficult. I do feel the staff should have had a quiet word with these inconsiderate guests as it was clearly ruining the ambiance of the dining room.
As on any previous occasion the food, service and overall experience was wonderful. Alex is a great host and all of the staff are friendly and very attentive. My favourite restaurant in Norwich by a mile.
This must be the best restaurant in central Norwich - excellent food, service and ambiance. Ideal for a special date or celebration.
An elegant, traditional style small restaurant. The service was efficient and friendly, and lunch was very good value at £19.95 for three courses.
Quality food excellent service, by far my favourite restaurant in Norwich 😃
