I had high hopes coming to this place. I love finding small out-of-the way places that exceed the expectations induced by their surroundings. Unfortunately a series of poor experiences here impaired my enjoyment. First off, the place us not designed for a pleasurable dining experience. The low ceiling without acoustic tiles and hard floor and walls make everyone's conversation public. A group of rowdy women next to our table made it nearly impossible to hear my partner's voice. My partner's seat was squeezed into a corner under the overhang of a long counter which was most inconvenient for her. Then there was the food. The starters were most unfavorable. The so-called "Ceasar Salad" bore no resemblance to the original and was quite tasteless. The mussels dish drowned the poor bivalves in a similarly bland tomato based sauce and thick layer of cheese. Thankfully the main courses rescued my despair. The trout was imaginatively prepared-rolled filets properly cooked with very light sauce, and the green beans were al dente. The wine list was long but held little for me as a bit of a snob, but I know what I like. The waiter was friendly, attentive, and conversed on Spanish when he noticed my partner was of that ethnicity. Go for the mains, skip the appetizers, and make sure you're seated away from the counter close to your fellow diners.
