Not one of my best meals here - the charcuterie croquettes were a definite 'miss', and the menu didn't grab me like it usually did. Was missing seasonal punch. I was on a date so didn't raise it there. The service was spot on as always.
This is a great local gem which we visit regularly. Staff are great and manager is particularly good.
Small, well chosen menu. Good presentation and service, great ambience. Had an excellent chateaubriand for mains, split 3 ways. Would have it again!
The service was great and the food was delicious. However, unfortunately the portion sizes have significantly decreased, thus we ended up spending a lot of money and still left hungry.
Excellent Sunday lunch - the food was delicious. The service was very good.
Wonderful relaxed atmosphere with carefully prepared eclectic food!
Booked for 5 but ended up being a party of 10. The staff were very accommodating despite the hassle that this must've caused. The service was fantastic and staff very attentive all evening. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced considering the quality and good portion sizes. I would definitely recommend
Always a pleasure Bistro Union. Delicious food in a buzzing atmosphere. Great for a small group as food nice to share (although not essential) - good service.
Third time here. Food has been consistently excellent and great value for London
Terrific food and great service. Manager is a star.
pasta was not good. it looks old one. I was look forward to enjoy the foods but disappointed to be honest.
Lovely evening, great food, portions quite big. Lovely staff.
Absolutely stunning restaurant with the food to match!
Consistently good cooking, seasonal menu changing every few days with a few faithful friends usually to be found. The vegetable dishes are particularly toothsome.
I am a loyal customer but on this visit suited front of house staff were not especially relaxed, slightly overbearing , not bistro unions’s style in the past. Quiet professional and friendly staff has been the norm
Sunday lunch: high quality of food, up since my prior visits. All the food came hot, at the right times, well presented. Overall friendly service but more up-selling than necessary. Customers are adults - they can work out whether they want aperitifs, add-on dishes, digestifs etc. etc. without being endlessly asked. Good atmosphere, though marred by a noisy adjacent table of eight Clapham Brayers (all adults) who didn't seem to have any awareness of (or care about?) their high noise volumes. We had to lean forward and shout to hear ourselves: our server could scarcely hear us or herself take orders. No effort made to discretely make the group aware of the impacts of their noise levels. A shame.
Good drinks selection (alcoholic and otherwise), set menu starters and desserts were good, mains a little disappointing. Our waitress was absolutely lovely and super tolerant of the children. The waiter/manager was somewhat stiff and overbearing and at one point even corrected my friend on her use of a knife.
Decent enough food but overpriced for what it was.
great roast beef, lamb and other dishes. Though menu was not same as received by email
Great local restaurant. We booked the weekend brunch: nothing fancy, but everything on the menu sounded delicious, and the food did not disappoint. Well priced, too!
Food always great here and service very attentive.
Waiter abit keen to up sell the sirloin special which was exceptionally expensive.
Very loud male crowd arrived seemed to take over the restaurant at least they got moved.
My girlfriend has been raving about this restaurant since we went on Saturday. Honestly one of our new favourite high end local restaurants. The mussels were really fresh and well cooked, burrata was properly gooey, the fresh pasta was excellent. Every dish we tried was good, so we're coming back soon!
really grest place and friendly staff BUT my wife's G&T lacked fizz and was far too weak...no offer to deduct from bill
Wonderful. A great restaurant . Delicious food, perfect service.
Really enjoyed the whole experience. Casual ambiance but good service. Food excellent. Rabbit really nice. Sauce with it amazing taste. Pasta starter really tasty. Cherry and dark chocolate dessert really fresh. Really recommend
It wasn't special enough for a recommendation. The food was fine but the bistro was packed - tables far too close together for comfort. They obviously were taking full advantage of the Mothers Day business. Service was very good but I think £40 a head for a fairly ordinary menu was pushing it a bit.
The vegan alternative menu was less than inspiring, apparently.
Just love it. Amazing every time.
Excellent food and service was attentive but not too much. I haven’t been for dinner here for about 5 years, I thoroughly recommend and will definitely not leave it too long to return
Waitress was great
I wouldn’t recommend the bistro based on the Sunday roast we had. It was pretty average to be honest in comparison to The Windmill nearby for example.
Really delicious food. Nice buzzy atmosphere I am told that being able to buy draft beer is a huge plus!
This place never disappoints. Fresh seasonal produce - the radishes with cod roe are lovely, oysters were delicious. Skate was a large thick chunk, perfectly cooked. Service was attentive and they advised on menu choices. Presentation slightly updated since my last visit (too long ago) - standard menus instead of the quirky school books. Hope to be back soon.
Lovely staff and ambience with a great small plate selection. The tiny amount of duck in the cassoulet main course was disappointing, which made £20 for the privilege a little hard to swallow!
Otherwise, great little place!
We had a delightful dinner with friends at Bistro Union. Service, food and ambience were all excellent.
Decided to go to Bistro Union last minute and for a Sunday night it was surprisingly busy so had a good atmosphere. Food and drinks were excellent with really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be back again soon !
I am not one for bad reviews, but good Lord this place SUCKED. The portions were TINY - so tiny in fact that we complained to the manager, and she realized that she couldn't justify charging us £10 for literally 11 pieces of pasta, and comped us a free dish. The cassoulet was so average it was painful, literally a pot of badly seasoned beans and dry duck, and not a hint of the richness the dish calls for. Plus they ended brunch at 12, which is such a peasant move cause IT'S SUNDAY! Will not be returning, can't believe we even paid for our bill at all.
Overpriced breakfast and not great service
Delicious food, great service and always a nice buzz.
Restaurant had a nice relaxed vibe, service was pleasant although slightly over-attentive at the start as we had to ask for more time to choose drinks and food on 2 occasions.
Starters were well executed, chicken and duck liver parfait was very nice. Main course of the duck cassoulet was a little underwhelming, all the individual elements were well cooked but the dish was missing something to bind it all together.
Overall, simple unfussy cooking executed to a good standard but missing some finishing touches that would really elevate the food.
Bistro Union is a wonderful restaurant. Took the parents and my GodMother here for lunch they loved it. Food was delicious, staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated as well. If you live in Clapham you must try them out, you won't regret it!
