Unfortunately we are unable to accept online table bookings for our outdoor tables.
Children are welcome until 9pm. Unfortunately we can not allow children in the house after 9pm due to licensing restrictions
Nice evening with friends, however, food not up to par. My gammon was overdone and one of our party’s food was missed off the order and arrived when the rest of us had half finished our meal. Won’t rush back again.
Brilliant Sunday lunch and a real bonus the dog could come too
We had a great lunch, with friendly and obliging staff and good food. Happy customers!
Had a really good meal here for my 40th birthday. Food and service is very good, whilst there is a standard menu which is good, there are also ever changing specials boards.
Excellent friendly service. Good Pub food and menu choice.
Very slow service, everything arrived at different times and had to chase some of the meals. Food was ok but not value for money. The kids meals were very good, they really enjoyed them. Some staff were very good, helpful and quick and others were the opposite so can’t really judge the staff as was not consistent. The main positive was that it was close and family frindly
Lovely place to eat, good food friendly staff and it's getting better every time we visit.
Due to a technology malfunction our meal took 40 minutes to arrive. It would have been good PR to have at least offered a complimentary drink or dessert. The food was fine although I would not have ordered the cauliflower cheese if I had known it was very light on the cheese sauce. The table behind had two dogs which created more noise than is really acceptable. I have eaten there several times and have not had a bad experience before. Hopefully it was just a blip and I would probably go back there again.
Booked a lunchtime dinner with my wife. It was a Sunday. We both had roast. My wife had chicken and I had beef. Food was superb. Well presented and delivered to the table in a polite manner. The staff are impressive and the manager is very obliging. It is a wonderful place to spend quality time with loved ones, family or friends. Try it. You will not be disappointed.
Our waitress was superb, polite and happy.
Very impressed with her.
Our waiter supplied the wrong drink and one of the meals on the menu wasn’t available. Not the best experience but a nice venue to go to. We will return as it’s local to us but wouldn’t necessarily recommend.
Saturday dinner with husband taking advantage of discount card given at Christmas time.
Very local to us always a good standard and good customer service - Landlord always friendly and joking.
Nice atmosphere and good choice of food, husbands appreciates the beers and how well they are kept.
My dad & I love the Blackhorse. The food & the service is always amazing. We went on Sunday 28th January for Sunday dinner & the food was incredible. I would recommend the Blackhorse to all of my friends.
Good food good service reasonably priced can't ask for more
Usually very good food and atmosphere, average prices for this type of chain.
On this occasion I thought the main meal I chose was a bit mediocre, not up to the normal standard, however the rest of the party enjoyed their main meal.
The atmosphere was really nice and homely. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The pricing was what you’d expect!
I had the lamb and chorizo pie with mash and seasonal veg. Pie was ok, the mash was fantastic but the veg was overdone.
My partner had fish and chips with peas, the chips weren't all that, the fish was over fried and peas were nearly white they were so overdone (possibly from a tin.)
We shared a side of onion rings. Which were also overdone, they were rock solid!
Food was ok, but a little more care and maybe fresher produce and it would have been great!
I’d come back again, a bit disappointed with the food though.
Went with friends to celebrate my birthday , staff were great and very friendly. The food was good value for money but the vegetarian meal I had was poor, dry and tasteless and it was the only thing that let it down. With more people going veggie maybe more dishes would be good.
Booked a table on Tuesday -as usual staff very friendly and professional - pub nice and warm and the food was excellent
We booked this for a family meet up after Xmas, as it was easy for all to travel to. It was busy when we first arrived (1pm) but quietened down after 2pm. They had reserved a really nicely positioned table for us, which gave us a degree of privacy that we like. The food was lovely and service very attentive and friendly. There is a cosy feel about the place and we would definitely come here again, and recommend it to our friends
Party of four, evening meal...Varied menu catering for everyones taste. My steak was cooked to perfection (medium rare) We have been to this restaurant several times and it never disappoints. Thanks especially to our waitress, Charlotte, always a smile, a real star. We'll be returning soon.
We have been to this pub before for lunch and each time the food and service have been excellent. We had a choice of tables. Nice atmosphere.
the food was cold uncooked and over cooked.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Very welcoming pub. Food was very good and nice variety of food. Staff were very accommodating as my daughter asked for a burger but with no mayo or sauces and they did bring this as ordered and it wasn't too much trouble either. However a little bit of a wait between courses so allow some time for this if you are going out somewhere else afterwards
Friendly, good service. Good pub food. A good place to meet up with friends . ...........................
A lovely birthday Sunday lunch with great service.
We were staying overnight locally and this was our nearest Pub/Restaurant. Very friendly staff, nice decor and varied menu. Food was good and main courses very filling. A lovely waitress spent some time helping us with suggestions for breakfast in Horley. Really appreciated her help. Will definitely be back if we are staying nearby again!
Lovely little pub I would recommend for lunch and a nice Sunday roast. food very nice but slightly over priced for pub food
However the same old with evening dinning pubs short staffed took a while to get 1st drinks ordered, 2nd drinks £7 for a glass of red wine by the time it came I had already finished my ribs so felt a bit deflated by that point very slow service and there wasn't really a rush on customer wise .
WE have been going to this pub for many years, but this last experience was not as expected, the prices have soared and the food was not so good, the chips looked and tasted as if they had been hanging around for some time although my steak was good my friends was very grisly will not be going back.
Comfortable and cozy environment for a late Sunday afternoon. The beef roast we all had was adequate, but by no means exceptional. Disappointingly small portions and an unimaginative selection of vegetables, but nonetheless perfectly tasty. Service was good and polite. We would come again.
Excellent meal and great pub quiz thorougly enjoyable evening
Restaurant was quite busy and had a nice feel about it.
Had to get our own menus and no details were given about specials or roasts that were available.
Kids had fish goujons which they enjoyed but the garlic flatbread seemed overdone and was a smaller portion than my friends had the day before at one of your other restaurants.
The pate starter was ok, decent amount of pate but bread seemed partially toasted on one side only.
The roast beef was dry and chewy and the vegetables looked wilted as though they had sat under heat lamps for ages. The potatoes and yorkshire were ok and although the pies that my husband and his friend ordered were overcooked they quite enjoyed them, chips looked like cheap frozen steak chips though.
We regularly eat out with family and friends and considering our meals with drinks cost over 200 pounds for 4 adults and 3 children we didn't feel that the food really lived up to the price compared to other pubs/restaurants that we frequent.
Attentive but not “ in your face” service.Relaxed and informal atmosphere great for our family get together. We’ll be back.
On this occasion I found the service and food very poor. Have eaten here before and it has been better.
We stopped on our way to Gatwick for s flight. The food was good however the service was quite slow with us often having to ask twice for service. However that shouldn’t detract from a nice meal!
The restaurant table we were seated at was right next to an air vent in the wall which was blowing single digit cold temperatures from outside at me. I didn't ask to move as not to have to move my friends who were perfectly comfortable. I would say that there should probably be an option to block the vent off should it get cold.
We had a very tasty meal! I tried the award winning streak pie. The small size was plenty! We also shared the fondue, and it wasn't traditional (not in a hot pot), but we both enjoyed it.
First visit here to meet a friend on a “half-way” basis and was extremely impressed. Was a Thursday lunchtime, so everyone was “olds” just like us!! Service from the three on duty was first rate and they genuinely seemed to care. I had booked as had a dog, but there were plenty of tables. Food was basic, but really well put together and tasty - good enough in my book. Attention of waiting staff made the day though; so thank BH - we will return!
We have enjoyed many lovely meals here in the past but unfortunately after our experience last Sunday it’s coming off our list of places to visit. The food was good if sadly lacking in gravy and custard but the service was nonexistent. Our waitress didn’t come to our table once, we had to ask for EVERYTHING. What should have been a relaxing meal was an effort. Also, when booking you ask the reason so I put that we were celebrating my husbands birthday so I was hoping for some recognition- nothing! Why ask if you’re not going to use the information to enhance the customer experience?
I didn't know this pub was dog friendly in the bar area - a couple of years ago, this was not the case. Therefore, I may visit it again for lunch some time.
Service was good but we waited to pay the bill and ended up going to the till instead.
I booked for nine people, but got the date wrong, so we turned up a week early. The staff were really helpful and said they would fit us in as soon as they could. Overall the meal went really well, staff really friendly, food good, and we all had a good time catching up. Would go back again, we all enjoyed our meals.
