Great service Good food Timely courses without being rushed Came for first time at Christmas and wanted to find out how the food on the normal menu was like. Not disappointed and will certainly be back
We were given a lovely warm welcome. The log fire was burning. The restaurant was full, there was a lovely atmosphere. The service was very good. The food was great overall, just felt the pate starter was too expensive for what appears to be just shop bought pate. Would visit again.
Excellent Sunday lunch
Good food and good value.
Amazing food, amazing service. Thank you
Excellent food as always, great choice for Sunday lunch and Lamb shank is recommended.
Nice atmosphere and surprisingly not that busy.
Would definitely recommend.
The food was pretty poor to be honest, especially the puddings. The chocolate brownie was a solid lump of very cold brownie which was disappointing. The Large Fish and chips was served with a barely battered very small piece of fish and cold mushy peas. We used to be regulars but the last few times we have been to eat we have always been disappointed. We will stick to just popping in for a drink and crisps in future!
Great Food tasty Beef Ribs
Nice buffalo hot wings for starters and great desert and very reasonable price
Would have giving the overhaul experience a 5 but had to get my own side plates to put the bones on and never picked up on this when sharing platter was giving and nowhere to put them
Had to find something
Other then that would go again
Excellent food and Great atmosphere for a wonderful Sunday Roast lunch. We were looked after by Emma whom accomodated our every request. Food and drinks orders were punctual (and the food was hot) despite the restaurant being very busy and nothing was too much trouble. Will be definitely heading back soon!
Excellent lunch eaten on a bitterly cold winter's day. Cuisine tasty and satisfying. Lovely surroundings a lovely fire to aid a warm environment. It made it a special event for a perfect catch up.
Black horse has really gone down hill. Used to be a lovely pub. Staff and service was great. Menu is basic. There is not much variety. We oedered a shared platter and it was appualing. Bowl of undercooked wings and some kofte for 10 quid. Not value dor money. We had a burger which the bun was stone cold and was nothing wow. We had No dessert as theyhad ran out of the only one we liked. Unless the.menu choice gets better I wont be returning for a while.
I met up with three friends for lunch on Sunday.
We received the usual warm welcome and were served well.
The food was delicious and plentiful with no less than five different veg as well as roast potatoes.
My only complaint would be that the plates were cold, thus making the food cold very quickly. One of our number did ask for her to be re-heated, which it was without any trouble - but it shouldn't have been necessary.
Great as always, we've visited this pub a few times now and never been disappointed.
Terrible service beyond belief and no Sunday roasts at 8pm. Walked out and never again
Food was brilliant and on time, staff were great and attentive!
I use The Black Horse quite often as it has a nice ambience and the food is good. One is always made to feel welcome.
Our table was booked for 8.30pm on a Saturday evening, on being seated we were advised that 7 dishes were not available, this narrowed our food choice by quite a bit, this was a big disappointment, we could of understood if a couple were not available.
lovely meal but due to the bad weather and staff shortage , some of the dishes had run out, which was a shame, but overall, it was lovely, and would thoroughly recommend.
It was a great experience, they were very organized when I booked, they called to make sure the menu was ready for the day.
Good food Good service Nothing more to say Great all round
The restaurant was freezing cold and had to huddle over the candle to warm our hands! The menu has been shrunk with far fewer dishes on the menu and 3 of the dishes weren't t available! Same with the puddings. Such a shame
bring back the Hammond steaks they were fab.
Love this place for a post walk hang out!
They are dog and baby friendly. They will let you reserve a space that sits you. I would recommend the pie!
enjoyable visit to a pub that is a short drive. Food was very good and good value. Friendly staff which is always make this visit a pleasant one. would go again
great meal, service was excellent nothing too much trouble. It is a great place for families and couples, relaxed or business.
Excellent Service & Food A very enjoyable meal the waitress was very friendly and welcoming
Lovely place and good service however this time the horseradish seems much more watery than before and the portion of beef on the roast dinner was also less than they usually serve.
Took Inlaws out for Lunch to the Black Horse
Its been a couple of years since we last went there
It won't be that long before we go back
The food and service was excellent
Really nice place to go
Order e-mailed was not placed so had to re-order.
My fish was overcooked
It was late by half an hour due to gas burners not working properly
Rest of the food was good
Staff was firendly
Lamb shank Sunday lunch was a delight, usually have the small lunch but this only came in one size so we forced ourselves, it was worth it!
A pleasant atmosphere with chatty and friendly staff. The food was perhaps a bit better than OK, not great but then not expensive, so pretty good value for money. When we were there parking was difficult as the car park was full, expect this to be a problem at busy times. In our case it was because of a big party, but we didn't hear them when in the restaurant.
A very good atmosphere, the food was nice and the staff friendly.
Atmosphere is lovely, food was great and staff was very friendly. Will be coming back!
As a party of 6 we ordered 2 gammons- one small and one large. There was no apparent difference to us they both looked exactly the same size. We were expecting a normal gammon steak but instead the gammon was more like slices of bacon!! I ordered the ploughmans- again I seemed to be expecting something that i didn't get. The maturecheeses appeared to be 2 very small slices of packet cheese not the chunk I was expecting and the roll was so tough it nearly took my teeth out when trying to bite it. We didn't make a fuss as it was my mothers birthday and she is quite elderly and didn't want to upset her. We thought paying over £107 for what we got was a little over the top. My wife and I have ate in the evening at The Black Horse and we've never had cause to complain but I feel it will be a long time until we go there again. We dined at Tge Black Horse in Iver Heath on Saturday 9th September 2017 at 1pm.
I don't live in the area but have visited 4 times since your refurbishment.I know my visit was a bank holiday but your menu was limited by being out of stock on a few choices and being 6 o'clock the waiting staff might have been tired, also the kitchen must have been busy resulting in a seemingly long waiting time.
Food was good , service was good and quick, fine choice of larger and ales , seems very friendly pub , wasent rushed at all
Great food! Good service! Only conplaint is there was no disabled parking near the entrance.
We had Sunday lunch, very pleased that there was a choice of meats and very usefully, a choice of sizes of meals. The small dinner was ample for me and the standard just right for the men. The staff were very friendly and polite and at no time did we feel pressured by them, they didn't hurry us and accepted the fact that we were happy with just the one course. We were very pleased and will definitely go there again.
Lovely gastro-pub / restaurant with great good and exceptionally friendly staff at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.
The food and service were good , and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful, not to mention very good looking, the only thing I did not understand was the amount of pepper put on my meal , when I asked why I was told it was seasoning, but it was far to much ,so if you don't like pepper you're in trouble!
Good meal in a modern pub. Menu had enough choice for a variety of tastes. A nice mix of people, young, old, and families.
Three of us meet up at The Black Horse once a month for lunch. The mere fact that we keep returning there should be recommendation in itself.
The food is good, the surroundings are very pleasant and the staff are lovely.
