Food was excellent. The recommended Hereford beef was a good as the waitress suggested. Puddings were also liked all round. Only downside was service was a little slower than we would have like to get drinks to start with.
Had a lunch booking, very quiet, waitress didn’t have a great grasp of English and got the original order wrong, checked and we corrected and I still got the wrong main course! Only three tables taken in the whole restaurant but could have been because it was January.
For a business lunch music was too loud. Good food but I would refrain from going back if there's an important conversation to be had.
Nice food and service! Good variety in the Meny. Really liked the recommendation of the wine.
Really enjoyed the food, the cocktails and the ambience. Lovely room.
Shocking service. The waiter refused to clear our table, when I eventually asked why he wouldn’t clear he cited ‘health and safety’. He was worried he might drop a plate on someone. Thought it was a joke, it wasn’t. I had to get up from the table four times to get attention from a waiter. Expensive and soulless.
Excellent food, unfortunately one of the orders wasnt taken properly and the steak needed to be cooked a bit longer but otherwise food was amazing and will definately be going back.
We went to this recommended restaurant before going to see a show. Whilst we could only get “bar” food, it was really good and was a full meal (not snacks). The restaurant is lovely and had great service. Would definitely go back
Only criticism I would say is the time it took for the drinks to arrive and my colleagues steak had to go back 2 times to be cooked correctly. The staff seemed to go missing quite a bit which i would have understood if they were very busy but that wasn't the case. Food was good, wine was good and the staff pleasant and very helpful. Last visit was much more a 4 star experience.
Lovely place, that is busy but not as overcrowded as the local pubs. Relaxed decor and atmosphere with lovely tables by the window to people watch. Cocktail selection is brilliant and food in the bar is informal and plentiful.
Very attentive staff, good choice on the menu and a very good selection on the wine list. Food was excellent, especially the traditional cottage pie. The price of the food was reasonable, a glass of a decent white wine cost £11, though £6.75 for a bottle of sparkling water maybe viewed a bit on the expensive side. That aside, I look forward to visiting again soon. Highly recommended!
Lovely restaurant for a Christmas outing. Great for families and food was fantastic! Kids food presented particularly well, more like young adult meals. Staff very friendly and attentive. Pricey but worth it. Would recommend and plan on going again.
First visit, booked in line, and food as well as service were excellent. Expensive, but bang on for the quality of the overall experience
We showed up an hour late, but fortunately, the Blue Boar was able to accommodate us. Very polite and attentive service and fairly quiet atmosphere. Wonderful cuisine with delightful presentation. If coming by the Underground at St. James station, I suggest entry through Conrad Hotel entrance on Broadway as the Tothill St entrance is through a very lively bar area which obscures the restaurant entrance.
My dinner was great! I think my 5 guests were also pleased. Thank you.
Very nice meal with plenty of options for you to choose from the menu.. Ambience just right.
No record of my booking when I arrived. Kept asking me is it the bar or the restaurant? The open table booking did not say which - simply Blue Boar. I assumed it was the restaurant. The restaurant didn’t have a table for me. Generally useless
Very tasty food. Lovely ambience with attentive customer service
I visited here with my partner, we had a lovely romantic evening and thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine. The service was good although we did feel a little rushed towards the end of the evening to finish our drinks and pay the bill. However, I would visit again if back in the area.
Been here on a number of occasions and always been good. This time food was very good but waiter overcharged me £41 then assistant manager advised me refund would take 2-4 working days. Not acceptable and I won’t return.
I would have given it a higher rating but they messed up our booking and didn’t even try to make up for it!
Enjoyed every mouthful
A grossly overpriced meal of very average standard. We had the ribeye which was somewhat chewy. The spinach is to be avoided unless you plan to take it with you and add it to your compost heap.
The staff were loud and kept interrupting our conversation to push more food and wine on us, even after we had said no thanks.
We won't be back.
Food and service were superb, the prices are very reasonable for the level of quality of both the food and the service. Recommend. They also have gluten free options!
Terrible service. Mediocre food. Expensive for what it is.
Food no to the high standard as would of expected. RibEye was not great quality.
Good salad and curry. Calm, quiet atmosphere so easy to have a proper catch up with friends.
Perfect for a business lunch. Great food and drink
The staff were really lovely but the food was over priced and multiple hairs were found in the Shepard’s pie.
A good ambience, attentive service and outstanding food. Highly recommended.
excellent - though would want a more prominent set of vegetarian options.
The food was superb - very tasty. I do think that £6.25 for a bottle of fizzy water is steep but that’s the only fault I could find. I will return.
A very good meal in pleasant surroundings with attentive staff and excellent service
They didn't have our booking and besides this they were not taking any bookings for the whole of August so I would like to know why we were allowed to make this reservation. It was a special occasion which was somewhat spoilt by this situation.
Can you please let me know why we were allowed to make this booking.
Always good for a lunchtime meeting in Westminster. Always advise booking in advance.
Great place for a work dinner - quiet, classy, comfortable, great food. Service was wonderful, we could conduct business without interruption yet we always had what we needed when we needed it.
We came to restaurant to celebrate a special award. Although vaguely acknowledged by restaurant upon arrival it was never fully acknowledged.
The waiter was very sweet but young and not very knowledgeable about cut of beef or good value wines. He tried but had no staff backup.
The food was very good. The ambiance was terrific. It was quiet so people could dine and speak and hear one another. You could better publicize this restaurant as a +10 for quiet dining.
The waiter was very thoughtful and tried but was at the mercy of what appeared to be inadequate training.
poor value for money
lamb very very fatty
Salmon trout ? precooked
a very expensive disappointing experience
