The Blue Piano has a separate bar with an extensive array of beers, wines and cocktails, private dining areas and a delightful south-facing courtyard garden providing a unique and relaxing atmosphere to eat and drink.
Eight beautifully styled en-suite bedrooms provide the ultimate in comfort for overnight guests.
Use to think this was a wonderful place to eat, but during my recent experience it was very loud and not the quiet relaxing atmosphere I had come to expect.
I love this place it is amazing a favourite of mine and all my family
Lovely food and atmosphere. Service could have been so much better, which did spoil the experience. Shame as nice place.
A lively venue with superb food and service. The meals are a fusion mixture of Far East Asian cooking and are superb. With the live music in the garden the place also has an excellent atmosphere and a very cosmopolitan feel.
Normally I love blue piano. This time I wasn't too impressed. There was a mix up with the staters which was rectified but the mains were not upto usual standard.
Staff were very welcoming and the service was timely. Lovely atmosphere and decoration, makes it suitable for whatever you go there for (family, friends, date). The food was great, variety of flavours and dishes to choose from. All reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend and would say to get the starter sharing platter to experience the different starter dishes.
Really didn’t feel the food was very good, it sounds great on the menu but t what came out wasn’t what I would have expected. Very disappointed as had wanted to visit for some time
Great place, first visit, very good food, drink, great to have a live band in the garden which was Steve Gibbons Band who were superb, we will definitely be coming back again and will be telling all our friends how good it is, this is the sort of venue Birmingham has been crying out for for too long, will that do?
Good inexpensive food. Good service. Great value for money
I’ve never been so excited and relaxed from visiting a restaurant. Excited about the amazing choice of interesting dishes and relaxed by the ambience. Blue Piano will discombobulate with its contradictions. Take a look around and you’ll see Jazz at its core flavouring the Victorian Guest house.
Take a look at the menu and be prepared to double take and look slightly confused. I love having an uncomfortable food selection; if this is your first time at The Blur Piano you are in for a treat. The Malay Singaporean selection will be familiar to some, to most it will happily bewilder. I definitely recommend the savoury Singaporean Carrot Cakes. The texture and flavours will blow your sweet leaning mind. Of the choice of mains there are lots of interesting noodle inspired dishes. I opted for the Tofu Ho Fun, tofu has never tasted so sumptuous and flavoursome.
The service is... eclectic; a contrast of professionalism and hipsterism. Thanks for the fast delivery and explanatory notes for each dish.
Overall the Blue Piano offers a dining experience you will not find anywhere else. I’m sure the ambience is taken to another level when the sound of the live Jazz flows through its bellows.
Delicious, interesting food, beautifully prepared and presented and excellent value we thought. We will come back when next in Birmingham.
Lovely food and garden bar. Had an extra drink of lager added on to my bill in error which I didn't notice until I left, so my fault for not checking the bill, otherwise a lovely meal
Love this place, staff always warm and friendly and food never disappoints. Fab night of music also
We have just recently gone to the blue piano and we went back last week! Love the live music on a Friday night, food is good, service really warm and efficient and it has a relaxed and interesting vibe. Would recommend it for sure!
Nice place to relax, loved the garden area. Quality of the food was good. Enjoyed our time there.
The food and setting of Blue piano is a little different from the norm as you can see from the website. Overall it works well and we had a very enjoyable evening.
In addition to the restaurant, the venue offers live music in the garden bar area, which is great if you like the band, but intrusive if you don't.
Overall service was friendly but whilst efficient at the start of dinner , staff seemed to lose interest by the end.
Lovely spacious dinning room and great food.
There was live music outside when we visited and the staff inside were not very attentive however we were more than happy with our own company and in fact it was a great location to have a meal with friends if you need a good catch up! We may have confused the waitress with our discussions/indecision but we did not receive the starter we had ordered to share.
Whilst the food was very good and the live music good also, service was dire. we waited 45 minutes for somebody to take our order (despite numerous "I'll be with you in a minute" messages). After 60minutes we finally got a drink... Yes they were busy, but this is simply extremely poor service.
Enjoyed our evening, band good and garden area excellent
I can only give 1 star. I pre-booked a table for my birthday and when I arrived, with my family and cake, the chef was not there! The waiter just said well there's no chef, so we had to leave. On my birthday! I was so disappointed and there was no apology. We then had to scramble and find somewhere else. I can't rate the food as we wasn't even allowed past the door where the chairs and tables were. All I can say it was an absolute disappointment. They had left a voicemail to call and then emailed to confirm our booking the night before. So we confirmed the booking, thinking okay yay. Our booking was late afternoon and we received no further contact from the restaurant. Until we turned up and they turned us away. I looked inside and there was two families being served food, which i don't understand how, if there was no chef. There was no manager on site either. it was ridiculous.
The place is stunning and the food is delicious. Singapore style carrot cake is a must for a starter!! The service is excellent too
It was very quiet on a Thurs so lacked a bit of ambience, but cocktails were amazing and so was the food. Reasonable value. Great service throughout. Would recommend!
Loved it and will definitely return. Especially looking forward to visiting on a summers evening when We can sit outside. The barman was fabulous - so friendly and helpful. We visited on Father's Day so the piano was playing hence the score for noise level!
Food is awesome with great tastes. Unfortunately service can be a little slow but not enough to put me off returning. The food is just to good and i suppose that is what its all about at the end.
It was a real game of two halves. The service initially was excellent, with all staff very attentive. But as the evening wore on the staff disappeared and at one point customers at others tables were all asking each other if they'd seen anyone. Food was good, music in bar was good, but we were left with really mixed views.
Had a nice date meal, the food is really good but the atmosphere a little loud for a date
The food is definitely on the sweet side and not necessarily described as such on the menu. Service was scattered and unacceptable that no mention was made of my plate after I'd left about 3/4 of my main meal
Great service. Lovely, fresh and delicious cooked food. Prawns, muscles, squid, beef and the pork were incredible. Just clean the window sills and windows as they were dirty with a couple of bugs. We moved table so all was well. Definitely would still recommend!
Really tasty and unusual dishes I have been here several times and always enjoyed the food and the ambience
The musical entertainment was excellent. Food portions were ok but be the meal was made expensive but the extras. The sweet and sour chicken did not come with rice or chips these were extra. The service was both bar and restaurant was also excellent.
The food was fantastic and great value for money. There was very little atmosphere in the restaurant and it is very cold. They need to put the heating on!
Great food. Service wasn't as good as usual, but they were busy I guess!
Really good food, relaxed atmosphere and good value
Friendly and polite staff, Great cocktails, interesting and flavoursome menu!
Our first dining experience since moving to Birmingham and we were not disappointed. Lovely setting and the garden area looked fabulous....well worth another visit when it warms up. We had the carrot cake, their speciality, and green curry mussels for starters and both were very, very good. My wife, being a vegetarian, had the Tofu Ho Fun. She found it quite spicy but not overly and said it was a very tasty meal.
I had the beef rendang classic with a bowl of Jasmine rice and was very please with it.
We shared a desert and overall thought it a great meal.
The bar had live music which, when the door was open, was quite intrusive for diners but to be honest when we were leaving and walked past the bar it was rocking and the lady singer was great.....shame it is so small.
A great restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and excellent food and service.
Excellent food, and such good value.
Was there for lunch so no problem with noise,. In the evenings I often find that a problem.
Service very efficient and friendly.
Very pleasant experience & nice and quiet at Monday lunchtime with attentive staff & owner who could answer all our queries about food & drink. The garden is an extra bonus & had it been a tad warmer we would have sat outside.
Absolutely love Blue Piano and it was the perfect setting in which to celebrate Mothers' Day. The food was simply delicious as per normal. We all enjoyed our starters, mains and desserts. The carrot cake as a starter did not disappoint and the vegetable green curry was beautifully spiced. Drinks were a good price with a varied selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Service was as excellent and friendly as ever.
The atmosphere and the overall attentive nature of the staff made me feel very welcomed.
The food itself was delicious, notably my carrot cake starter which was full of flavour and crutch. We ended up sharing the plate as it was so good.
The desserts were a little limited on a vegan diet so it would be nice to have more choice.
