We usually love eating here so booked it for our anniversary dinner. We waited over 2hrs for our mains & when the duck came out it wasn’t edible (the fat hadn’t been rendered but the meat was over cooked & chewy). We were not the only ones in the restaurant who were complaining about the length of time food was taking - the table next to us left before theirs arrived.
Such a shame. They were clearly overbooked. We felt sorry for the front of house staff who were having to deal with it all.
I think this place is under new management…the food is still good but the organisation seems poor. We waited nearly 2 hours for our main meal on Saturday
On the plus side the garden is great, staff are lovely and the food was still tasty when it finally arrived!
Might give them another go when they get their act together….
We arrived for my birthday meal. There were 2 members of staff who saw us waiting but didn't react. One on the bar one sitting at the table next to the bar. One member of staff passing cigarettes to another. Neither member of staff greeted us or acknowledge us arriving. We moved closer to a reception/ booking desk. 2 members of staff passed by, one said that manager will be with us in few minutes. Eventually manager turned up and took us to the table, wished me happy birthday. We have order a bottle of pinotage, the waiter didn't know what that was. The wine glasses were dirty and two of the water glasses as well. We asked them to be changed. We were waiting for a long time for the starters and the mians. I have ordered a dish prawn ho fun, unfortunately, it didn't come with bean sprouts and spices, instead it arrived with peppers in some kind of sweet and sour sauce which I hated. I would never order that dish If I knew it would be served with the sweet and sour sauce. My partner had a prawn and sambal but it was the same sauce as my sauce, so we were not impressed. My mum swapped her dish with me because she likes the sweet and sour sauce. The waiter didn't seem to be very much on the ball when I told him I was not happy with the dish, he just didn't know what to say. The whole time we didn't see the manager being present, place was disorganized. It took ages to clear the table, we had to look for a waiter to ask him to clear the plates. We were not offered desserts,we had to ask about them ourselves. We decided to pay and leave. I have been to the blue piano many times before, I spent my birthday there before lock down, I always enjoyed it. Now I know I won't be back. Shame. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The place has changed ownership and unfortunately they haven’t got it right yet.
The place was in the middle of being renovated and not complete, the staff were overwhelmed and didn’t check in with us once.
We waited 30 minutes for our first drinks to arrive which were very poor (cocktails) and then didn’t manage to order a second round because no one came to ask if we would like anything.
Starters were okay but nothing to rave about whereas the food used to be excellent here and the reason we kept coming back. We sat with empty plates for 20 minutes before they were cleared and then we waited for an hour with no mains.
Other tables were experiencing the same, and one table had their food arrive and it was cold.
We asked to pay for the bill up to what we had consumed and then we left without our mains.
It’s such a shame because the place used to be fabulous, the couple that owned it had created an amazing little gem and it’s a shame that it’s been changed by the new owners.
The staff were lovely and the place is very pretty, the outdoor seating area is especially nice. However, we waited an hour and a half for our main and when it came it was the wrong order, they did give us a free drink but we finally got our meal at around the 2 hour mark of waiting. The starters were lovely but the mains were average and it's overall over priced.
No need thank you. Mary had a little lamb, her fleece was white as snow
We arrived 8:30 we had to wait for our cocktails half an hour and for our food 2 hours had to wait 2 hours for food
Arrived and left starving. Awful experience, will not come again or recommend
Service took too long, we arrived at 7:30, starters arrived at 8:45, with mains only arriving at 10:20. Too long to wait with small children.
The duck meat was overcooked but the fat wasn't rendered at all and was inedible. The broccoli was cold. The women's toilets were dirty, had no toilet roll holders and the taps didn't work properly on the sinks. We waited over an hour for our food and over half an hour for our drinks. We were also given 1 menu for two of us, which was paper and covered in stains. There was also a BBQ outside, which made inside (where we were sitting) very smoky as the doors were open, to the point my eyes were irritated, and left our clothes stinking of smoke. One of the staff also shouted at another member of staff infront of us, which made us feel uncomfortable. It was busy and I can appreciate the pressure, but there was no positives to our experience other than our waiter, James, being friendly. Sadly, would not go again or recommend.
Seated at 7pm, mains served at 8:45pm. Whilst the service and settings were great, the time taken for food to come wasn’t acceptable and felt by quite a few tables. When we said something; we were told the kitchen wasn’t big enough to keep up with demand. Therefore, don’t book in as many tables! It’s ruins the experience
We really enjoyed our meal my only criticism was that our food was not hot & that’s a real pet hate of mine , but we were so hungry & did not want to cause a scene that we just ate it , but it’s a great place with a really good atmosphere we will go back
Visited on many occasions always a great atmosphere, cocktails and food!!
Not as good as it used to be.
Needs better quality food, more selection on menu and the place could do with tidying up inside.
The fish platter we had was good enough as a starter.
Great Saturday afternoon sat in the lovely courtyard garden, sun shining, music playing and eating fabulous food… really nice ambience!
The food and ambience was as expected, we waited over an hour for our mains, every waiter we asked would listen but never return with how long the food would be. We had to get up and actually complain in order to get out food. The place is more focussed on churning out drinks than food. Disappointed with the service and we were given no discount or any extra's for the hours wait. Clearly the managers think this is acceptable for customers to wait and be treated in this way...
Excellent food and great service. Love to go there again
Really nice place. Great cocktails ans service .. lovely
It was a very disappointing experience in terms of service, environment and value for money but a leat starters were good.
Great service and team
Booked table after checking online menu, on arrival menu completely different mostly serving chicken or prawns. One different option was duck so 3 ordered this only to be told they hadn’t got any. So we had a starter and got the bill. Very disappointed overall. The cocktail we had was lovely and so was the bar man. My praise ends there.
Outstanding food and amazing service. We had such a great time. Thank you
Was not sure about changes under the new ownership. Found the a la carte menu replacing the set menu more expensive, and hadn’t realised how much more until bill came. The redecoration work was going on (ie walls half painted, new light fixtures on tables etc) and even despite that was an expensive meal. Food remained very good but was not sure about the overall experience.
I’ve been Blue Piano a few times and unfortunately this experience wasn’t great. The starters were fantastic, but the drinks, dessert and mains were disappointing. The service was great, our server was really attentive and polite. I would definitely recommend going for dinner over lunch based on this experience.
Absolutely shocking service, everyone was complaining. The restaurant was freezing and unfinished as paint all over the floor. Manager was very defensive and very rude to one of my party. More like a school canteen! New owners so won’t be rushing back!
We waited for an hour and half, and we’re not served any drinks. When asked, we were told there was a backlog, other tables had been served drinks. Our starters came before our drinks. The service was poor - they seemed very disorganised and unsure of what they were doing. When we sought advice management weren’t apologetic in their response. We decided to leave at this point, due to the delay in drinks and food as well as the service. Management also didn’t seek to do anything to accommodate us, we left after our starters, which we also paid for despite a service which was not adequate
Rib starter best ever had, waited nearly an hour for a noodle main course but did take our drinks off the bill in compensation.
Very nice meal and venue will visit again.
It was a lovely meal, but the team looked stretched and tried to do their very best. Food was fabulous quality and came out steaming hot. Just a long wait in between.
I usually love the blue piano. But last night the service was below average, I got wrong dish after confirming twice and showing on menu. Too much soya sauce in my husband dish . …etc
I think they changed Chief / or owner
Wish I could give a higher rating. The food was presented lovely and tasted how it looked! Cocktails we're brilliantly made and tasted awesome 5 stars for quality
Disappointed with the service. I know you're out of practice 1.3 years of covid. But honestly pull your socks up.
We arrived at 5:30pm no one had bothered to take our starter drinks orders until 6:30pm... I notified the staff regularly and still they failed to serve us.
Sloppy communication. After we had finally ordered we had several waiting come to us at different times to ask if we had ordered. It took long periods of time to receive each round of drink.
Tip: assign a waiter to a table. That way you eliminate your staff running around like headless chicken.
I would rate you guys a 1 star for your service currently. Hopefully it picks back up soon
Slow service, poor/no greeting from staff
Nice starters, average mains
Lovely evening, great food and great service. Coffee was a little on the cold side !!
Booked to sit indoors but when we got there we were told renovations were not finished so we had to sit outside. If you can't sit people indoors then don't advertise that indoor tables can be booked!
Took ages to get served for drinks, and when these came my wife's white wine spritzer was flat as a pancake so we sent it back. Eventually when the starters came, the chicken satay skewers were dry, bland and with a sauce that was not satay. The 5 spice pork rolls were in filo pastry and not the pastry advertised on the menu, so was just like any old spring roll from the Chinese. The service was pretty poor, so at this point we cut our losses, sent our starters back and asked for the rest of the food to be cancelled. Again, poor service, with no apologies from the members of staff, all quite rude.
Will not be returning or recommending, which is a shame as it looked like it would be a good place.
Booked a standard table for dining inside but there was only outside dining. Staff admitted they new the standard inside option was being offered on the booking site but are still taking bookings. Not acceptable therefore we did not dine.
food is lovely here and with the set price menu it’s fantastic value for money and the drinks are also good. It can get a little busy and if you don’t speak and get the staffs attention you can be sat down with out a drink for a little time. But over all the stuff do try there best to do the best they can for you.
Very nice food and enjoyable atmosphere. Staff very friendly too
Amazing food, fabulous service! See you again soon.
Amazing appetizers, especially the ribs. The entrees were okay, but not nearly as tasty as appetizers. Not a fan of the fixed menu, a little pricy
Main meals are mediocre but starters are great.
Food very good quality and reasonable prices serving outdoors confused staff without strict table numbering we were left waiting for food longer than necessary especially with only a few heaters but nothing wrong with quality of food when it was eventually delivered.
