Grilled chicken skewers with peanut sauce
restaurant seemed to have changed hands since our previous visit some years ago... asked waiter re sharing platter and ordered one of these as starters but when mains came, portions were very generous and we struggled to eat a main each and the sharing mixed grill platter.... all meals sound delicious and the slow cooked beef was fantastic... will return as menu has lots of choice.... service suffering due to lack of staff and a very busy restaurant on Saturday night - also made it noisy but staff were doing their best...
The food was very flavoursome. The Tom Yum was delicious but was only offered as vegetarian and could have benefitted from a few prawns.
Although the flavours were interesting the Nasi Lemak was not authentic, since it is a curry and the sauce was much more Thai than Malaysian or Indonesian.
Portions were abundant and all the ingredients were fresh.
The service was very friendly and willing and the place was buzzing. It was good value for money as well.
Amazing service beautiful place and atmosphere considering there was a party of 60 people it was still quiet will definitely be back
Bottomless brunch (Prosecco) great day great service , drinks flowed for the full 3 hours , all in all would recommend.
Very good, sat outside by choice, inside was lovely too but it was a pleasant evening. They made a mistake with our order but recovered it well and gave us both dishes. Friendly and attentive staff, giving the right level of attention. Decent drinks choice and fab food. Well done
Super food and the garden is delightful.I will return when live music is listed
Was not the best place we have visited, the service needs improving as they got the order wrong, overall was satisfactory
Lovely unique restaurant with great ambience outside and inside. Food was lovely as were the drinks and great service! Will be going more often!
Slightly hectic and confused service - I believe all the staff were new, but very friendly
Cocktails tasty - but some small details missing (margaritas in tumbler glass and no salt on edge etc)
Overall, lovely meal and would recommend
Nice food. Decent service. Nice environment. Will come again
Amazing food & staff were brilliant & friendly. Loved the atmosphere too
Great outside area. Staff were brilliant. Would highly recommend this place.
Waited for 80mins for food. We paid for our bill, and left with the food packed in a non-sealed container.
They may just have a really busy day, but in term of my personal experience, I didn't like waiting with empty stomach. As much as I hate to waste food, it ended up in bin. It was too sweet.
And please be aware, Ho Fun and flat noodle are not the same thing. I do suggest get another chef.
Anyway, STAY AWAY if you are Asian.
Lovely food and waitress service good but we asked for two different bottles of wine which they didn’t have, the wine list is not extensive to start with. Also we waited quite a while for our starters. However the staff were friendly and the food delicious.
Nice Vietnamese cha gio n bun thit nuong. Steamed seabass tasty. Service friendly. Nice seating areas.
First visit and will definitely return. Fab food, great efficient service and lovely gardens
Very good. Only ever been at lunch time before. Lovely outside area with heaters
Amazing staff that go the extra mile and amazing food and cocktails, will definitely be back, was looked after so well. Thankyou!
Lovely cocktails and service. Really enjoyable. Food could be a little spicier but was lovely
A great place with excellent service by a young staff.
Unfortunately, on a special occasion at prime time dining there was no one to make cocktails and no sea bass. Disappointing but well recovered, with very nice alternative main courses and a beer! Would go again.
Excellent food, furniture has a cafe kind of feel about it which does not do the food justice
Overall will definitely return and hope they have live music back soon
Love this place. Food, service and ambience all excellent.
Excellent food... Best Pan Asian food in Birmingham, lovely garden too
Unfortunately not a great first visit to this restaurant after hearing such positive reviews. Our starters got delivered to the wrong table and then issues/confusion with the waiting staff so waited a good 40 mins, then my starter arrived cold and had to be sent back. Lack of service was an issue and had to ask where our drinks were after waiting a good 15/20 mins, we were going to have dessert but as we had to wait ages to find a waiter we just asked for the bill. Really don’t think we will be visiting again.
We had an amazing bottomless brunch at blue piano, really well looked after by the staff. The drinks were amazing! Very friendly chilled atmosphere, will be going back to try the rest of the menu!
Another excellent evening at the Blue Piano. Good food with more varied menu than last time. Prompt service. Excellent value. Would return again.
We visited Blue Piano twice in the same week - once for dinner with friends and once for lunch. Both times the services was really good along with great ambience and food. Will definitely visit again!
We usually love eating here so booked it for our anniversary dinner. We waited over 2hrs for our mains & when the duck came out it wasn’t edible (the fat hadn’t been rendered but the meat was over cooked & chewy). We were not the only ones in the restaurant who were complaining about the length of time food was taking - the table next to us left before theirs arrived.
Such a shame. They were clearly overbooked. We felt sorry for the front of house staff who were having to deal with it all.
I think this place is under new management…the food is still good but the organisation seems poor. We waited nearly 2 hours for our main meal on Saturday
On the plus side the garden is great, staff are lovely and the food was still tasty when it finally arrived!
Might give them another go when they get their act together….
We arrived for my birthday meal. There were 2 members of staff who saw us waiting but didn't react. One on the bar one sitting at the table next to the bar. One member of staff passing cigarettes to another. Neither member of staff greeted us or acknowledge us arriving. We moved closer to a reception/ booking desk. 2 members of staff passed by, one said that manager will be with us in few minutes. Eventually manager turned up and took us to the table, wished me happy birthday. We have order a bottle of pinotage, the waiter didn't know what that was. The wine glasses were dirty and two of the water glasses as well. We asked them to be changed. We were waiting for a long time for the starters and the mians. I have ordered a dish prawn ho fun, unfortunately, it didn't come with bean sprouts and spices, instead it arrived with peppers in some kind of sweet and sour sauce which I hated. I would never order that dish If I knew it would be served with the sweet and sour sauce. My partner had a prawn and sambal but it was the same sauce as my sauce, so we were not impressed. My mum swapped her dish with me because she likes the sweet and sour sauce. The waiter didn't seem to be very much on the ball when I told him I was not happy with the dish, he just didn't know what to say. The whole time we didn't see the manager being present, place was disorganized. It took ages to clear the table, we had to look for a waiter to ask him to clear the plates. We were not offered desserts,we had to ask about them ourselves. We decided to pay and leave. I have been to the blue piano many times before, I spent my birthday there before lock down, I always enjoyed it. Now I know I won't be back. Shame. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The place has changed ownership and unfortunately they haven’t got it right yet.
The place was in the middle of being renovated and not complete, the staff were overwhelmed and didn’t check in with us once.
We waited 30 minutes for our first drinks to arrive which were very poor (cocktails) and then didn’t manage to order a second round because no one came to ask if we would like anything.
Starters were okay but nothing to rave about whereas the food used to be excellent here and the reason we kept coming back. We sat with empty plates for 20 minutes before they were cleared and then we waited for an hour with no mains.
Other tables were experiencing the same, and one table had their food arrive and it was cold.
We asked to pay for the bill up to what we had consumed and then we left without our mains.
It’s such a shame because the place used to be fabulous, the couple that owned it had created an amazing little gem and it’s a shame that it’s been changed by the new owners.
The staff were lovely and the place is very pretty, the outdoor seating area is especially nice. However, we waited an hour and a half for our main and when it came it was the wrong order, they did give us a free drink but we finally got our meal at around the 2 hour mark of waiting. The starters were lovely but the mains were average and it's overall over priced.
No need thank you. Mary had a little lamb, her fleece was white as snow
Both the food and service was really good, we're already looking forward to our next visit
We arrived 8:30 we had to wait for our cocktails half an hour and for our food 2 hours had to wait 2 hours for food
Arrived and left starving. Awful experience, will not come again or recommend
Service took too long, we arrived at 7:30, starters arrived at 8:45, with mains only arriving at 10:20. Too long to wait with small children.
The duck meat was overcooked but the fat wasn't rendered at all and was inedible. The broccoli was cold. The women's toilets were dirty, had no toilet roll holders and the taps didn't work properly on the sinks. We waited over an hour for our food and over half an hour for our drinks. We were also given 1 menu for two of us, which was paper and covered in stains. There was also a BBQ outside, which made inside (where we were sitting) very smoky as the doors were open, to the point my eyes were irritated, and left our clothes stinking of smoke. One of the staff also shouted at another member of staff infront of us, which made us feel uncomfortable. It was busy and I can appreciate the pressure, but there was no positives to our experience other than our waiter, James, being friendly. Sadly, would not go again or recommend.
Seated at 7pm, mains served at 8:45pm. Whilst the service and settings were great, the time taken for food to come wasn’t acceptable and felt by quite a few tables. When we said something; we were told the kitchen wasn’t big enough to keep up with demand. Therefore, don’t book in as many tables! It’s ruins the experience
We really enjoyed our meal my only criticism was that our food was not hot & that’s a real pet hate of mine , but we were so hungry & did not want to cause a scene that we just ate it , but it’s a great place with a really good atmosphere we will go back
