This was a birthday and the meal and venue were so lovely! The service was nice too albeit a bit slow - we needed to leave quickly and it took a long time to get the bill (as well as every time we wanted to get served)

The afternoon tea deal was really good, very tasty. However, I did have to get up a few times to attract the attention of the staff which I have never encountered before. Perhaps understaffed?

We travelled all the way from North Wales for afternoon tea as a Christmas gift. Upon arrival we were very impressed with the decor, the atmosphere and the city buzz.
Once we had been seated it took a while for us to be attended to. When our pots of tea eventually arrived they had mixed our order up. The teapots also went cold extremely quickly, meaning by the time our sandwiches and cakes arrived we were left drinking cold tea. We were not offered fresh tea until after we had finished all of our food.
When our food did arrive, we were incredibly disappointed at the standard and quantity. There were four tiny sandwiches between two people, two were fish and two were egg. The server did not explain the afternoon tea meaning we had to figure out the sandwich fillings and cakes for ourselves.
The cakes were truly abismal for the price we paid. There was a simple fairy cake with lemon icing piped on top. It looked like something a child could produce. There was also a very dry looking cube of Christmas cake which we didn’t even attempt to eat. There were two raspberry tarts, one of which had a hair in it. There was then a chocolate and cream roulade style cake and another fairy cake which was banana.
For the price we paid, the standard of the food was absolutely awful and it simply looked like there had been no thought put into the cakes or sandwiches at all. We were left feeling incredibly deflated and disappointed.
We quickly asked for the bill as we wanted to leave swiftly. There was a discretionary service charge added onto the bill which we asked to be taken off as the front of house staff had not done anything special to be adding their own tip onto the bill. We told the waitress we would choose our own tip.
The waitress then took the money and did not bring back our change. We guessed that she had decided herself that this was her tip. We left immediately and will not return. Unbelievably disappointing experience.

I have been to Bluebird before, but only for brunch and was fairly happy with that, however, I am very disappointed with their Afternoon Tea.
The Champagne and tea was great but the food was of poor quality and very basic, there was nothing special about the sandwiches or cakes and they did not taste very fresh.
On top of that, they did not offer a serious dairy-free alternative to my friend, although this was mentioned in the reservation already a week before - serving sandwiches with salad leaves and a piece of tomato or cucumber as dairy-free savories without any other ingredient (i.e. spread, humus, salmon, chicken, .. just anything that doesn't include dairy), as well as only offering fruit salad as the only dairy-free alternative to cake is just a shame. I would have expected much more with regards to the quality of the food and also more empathy from the kitchen and service staff on handling this issue. Therefore, I'd only recommend to come for drinks and enjoy the nice ambience or maybe try brunch or dinner.

Lovely afternoon tea! Overall experience was good, but the wait staff were horrible. We waited 15-20 minutes to grab a waitress because they forgot our scones. My past experiences at Bluebird have been fantastic, but this occasion fell a bit below standards.

Definately NOT worth £40.
Service was slow and afternoon tea was awful. The only good thing about travelling two hours away for this was that £1 was donated to charity. It was meant to be a pink afternoon tea, all the cakes were basically red and not pink. Scones were so small and hard, they gave us the tiniest portion of jam & clotted cream. No one even came to check on us to see if we were okay or enjoying our food.

When the bill camw after ages of waiting for it I asked if we could take the the service charge off the waiter asked why and I said because there was such a delay in getting the bill especially after we saw about 3 men waiters in the bar doing absolutly nothing.

We have had afternoon tea in MANY different places and countries and this by far was the worse one. We didnt even finish any of the other cakes and asked for a takeaway box and the man just gave it to me not even offering to pack it for us. Glad I took the service charge off.

Would actually love to take my complaints futher as I dont think I deserve to have paid £45 after my awful experience.

Was hoping for a really special experience here as it was the only day of the year our group gets together - we live all over the world. While the food was fine, the service was very poor (even more so considering a large service charge is added to the bill). After an hour, we were told they needed the table back in an hour, not mentioned at the time of booking . When ready, we tried to get a waiter's attention for the bill with no luck. Next thing we know, a huge group of diners are being shown to our table with us still sitting there. A real shame. Wouldn't recommend.

Lovely venue. Delicious fresh cakes and scones. Took about 15 mins after arrival for the staff to come over and offer us drinks - we had to call them over to our table. Vegetarian options were not v interesting this time - cheese and pickle sandwiches, and focaccia. Last time I had afternoon tea at Bluebird the veg options were excellent and very creative, so was disappointed this time.

Bluebird called me to confirm my booking, in which I had to call them back. When I called back the lady on the phone confirmed the booking was fine and asked for no further details. When arriving at bluebird they had cancelled my booking as they had no credit card details. The lady on the phone had not asked me for nay such information. We were then put in a corner, and served what seemed the dribs and drabs of what they could put together. I am sure it is not that difficult to put a few sandwiches together. When asking for tea, the waiters did not even ask what type we would like until I pointed it out. Overall the actually place is lovely, however the service was appalling.

We celebrated a21st birthday afternoon tea at the Bluebird. Everything was perfect , our welcome, the food, the service. The bar area where tea is served is nicely situated with a view over the bar and restaurant . The staff are very attentive. The bartender made a bespoke cocktail to celebrate the occasion which the birthday girl enjoyed immensely. Well done bluebird!

I brought my mum here for her birthday, and we were overwhelmed with how beautiful everything was; from the sofas to the scones! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly too. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the egg sandwiches. We would both highly recommend the afternoon tea to all our friends, especially females.
Many thanks for a lovely afternoon.

We enjoyed Bluebird's Champagne Afternoon Tea on a Saturday Afternoon with a table by the window looking down on the courtyard. The Champagne was served as soon as we arrived, we were then asked what tea we would like from the selection. The food was gorgeous, I think we were all shocked at how full up we were after. We had a 2hr limit on the table but never felt pushed to leave and there staff were accommodating and friendly.
I would recommend a bit more signage on where to go if you had pre-booked. We waited in the queue out front before being informed that we actually needed to be upstairs. I would also recommend that you pre-book online, all tables had already been reserved for the day.

Had heard a lot about the Bluebird afternoon tea. When booking, even though not mentioned on the website at all one will receive a call later on and need to provide bank details in case for no shows. Only take a message on only to inform of this practice. The food was not great, too much butter in the sandwiches which made think there was a thick layer of butter with nothing else and the scones were dry and hard.

The only positive, the service was good, the lady looking after us was friendly and attentive with a nice enviroment.

Went to the Bluebird for afternoon tea as a birthday treat. The staff were very friendly the setting nice although our table was overlooking the scaffolding outside. Felt that the selection of cakes could do with some attention and the finger sandwiches were not freshly made.

A little disappointing but spotting Jamie from Made in Chelsea made up for it.

As a treat for my wife and daughters (16 & 13) on a day trip to London, I booked Afternoon Tea at the Bluebird in Chelsea, with wife and I opting for the Champagne extra. We were highly delighted with the service, from our greeting on arrival, being seated and served throughout. The choice of tea types were great and the variety of fresh sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious. No small request was too much bother for the attentive staff. The ambience of the establishment was great with a real mix of people from day trippers, business types, etc all enjoying an afternoon tea or cocktail or two at the main bar. We would recommend the experience to anyone.

Myself and 3 friends had the aftyernoon tea at Blue Bird last week. The restaurant is lovely, we were offered a table by the window which was really nice. The bubbly was delicious, there was a lot of food, the little cakes and sandwiches were really yummy! The servers could have been a little warmer but they were still very efficient. Overall it was a great experience; tradicional english tea in a very cool, young environment.

I chose the Bluebird as my older daughters love it and as a result, champagne afternoon tea was a huge success - followed by some super cocktails. Friendly, low-key service as usual, fun atmosphere and beautifully presented food. Have been here many times and the team at Bluebird never fail to deliver. If you are looking for a relaxed, buzzy, 'designer' atmosphere with a spot of people watching, Bluebird is hard to beat.

I have been to the Bluebird a few times and have rated it highly which is why I organised afternoon tea there with two friends. However, we had such a terrible time, the service was abysmal and we got no value for money. It started to go wrong when we were sat in a corner that was so dark that we could not see what we were eating or each other. We were told that our only option was to pay £400 for another table-what a cheek! After only being there for 1 hour, we were approached, thinking that we would be offered more tea- no, they needed our table and gave no apology! We mentioned our disappointment when paying the bill and the waiter raised his voice and said that afternoon tea is like this at all top establishments...err no it's not!
