Great atmosphere and a fantastic food. It had just opened when we arrived and the food was excellent! Outdoor seating is well heated and adjustable so no worries there during the winter months.

Went for b-day celebration for my wife at 8pm on a Fri eve. By 8:30 shop was closing down and we weren't allowed to order from the kitchen. Major buzzkill being rushed out after a $200+ dinner. Won't be going back despite the superior sushi reputation.

Amazing food. Went there for our anniversary and ordered Chef’s Omakase. The presentation, freshness, seasoning, serving timing of the course menus was utterly impeccable.

I really enjoyed the lunch omakase back in August. But this time around, the overall quality of the food has gone downhill. Ingredients seemed ok, but the preparation was sloppy. Rice was bad quality, overcooked and sticky. Worst sushi rice I’ve had in recent memory. The Uni sushi had a tiny little piece of uni, are you kidding me?!

The food was wonderful and there was so much variety. I had the lunch special bento and it was fantastic. The sashimi and nigiri sushi were so amazingly fresh and presentation lovely. Open Table gave the wrong directions in their website and guided me to the middle of Corona del Mar instead near Five Crowns.

Blu Fin used to be one of my all time favorite sushi restaurants because of the freshness of the fish, the nuanced sauces and garnishes and the beautiful presentation. It simply was a superior experience every single visit, until last night. Some of the fish seemed old, even mushy, especially the salmon. The special sauces were either too scarce or too much which was unappetizing in both cases. The outdoor seating was a nice touch with twinkle lights but sadly and through no fault of the restaurant, the parking lot is simply too close to some of the tables. The service was ok but not exceptional. Again, the quality of the meal was nothing like it used to be but the prices were higher than ever. I will not be returning in the future which is sad because Blu Fin was my go-to favorite for the best sushi experience ever.

We normally love Blue Fin. Not so much this time. The tempura batter was thick and not crispy even though my mom specifically asked for it to be lightly battered (by shaking off the excess batter before frying). She peeled off most of the exterior before eating the shrimp. Shockingly, she had a piece of tempura celery! Normally she would get a tempura green bean or tempura asparagus. She was very disappointed with her meal. A few of the sashimi pieces on the chirashi lunch also seemed smaller. Finally, there was a noticeable difference in quality. I turned over one of the tuna pieces and it had some gray coloring compared to the bright red flesh on the presentation side. We are hoping this is an anomaly. We will wait awhile before returning again.

We were hoping for a nice experience, but you sit in the parking lot under umbrellas. Exhaust fumes and car alarms!!
The food was good and the service was great. My wife had the Sea Bass and tuna tacos. I had the Sushi Omakase at $85 and the heirloom tomato and Japanese cucumber salad. You can eat else where inside with the wait staff not wearing masks and inside with a view. I suggest the Driftwood Kitchen in Laguna Beach.

The sushi here is always great. We love the Crunchy rolls, Ballerina rolls, Noro, Bluefin rolls and spicy tuna rolls. We had a busboy bring us our drinks, order our food and never officially saw our waiter. So service was definitely off last night. We also received all of our food at once. We usually have the crispy tuna rolls come out first.

My table was cleared while I went to the bathroom, but they compensated me for a glass of sake which was probably less than what was on the table.
The spicy scallop hand roll, which thankfully I ate last, was so spicy this time that my taste buds would have missed enjoying the flavors of the other sushi if I had eaten it first.
For some unknown reason, when eating there, I was told that they don’t offer sushi takeout on Wednesday or Sunday which was surprising.
Otherwise the food was as good as usual.

It was pretty good. The sashimi was very fresh. Service was so so. We had to wait for long periods of time to get our order in, get drinks, etc. once the food started coming it was better. We were outside so maybe that is why it took longer. Nobu does a more refined, complex job of seasoning and flavors. However, the popcorn shrimp was everyone's favorite. The yellowtail collar was great, too. Worth checking out.
