If you like the food at Cecconis- you’ll like this - the service isn’t as good (not is the people watching) but a great Italian which is family friendly for a Sunday afternoon or a little more grown up for midweek - would go again
Sure the service can be improved
The best Italian restaurant in London I really recommend it. The food is delicious I love it.
Certainly not an Italian style - more of a fast food / tourist / commercial type. Even bread has become a problem. Horrible speaker over our head. Definitely overcharged for that ambiance / service. Regret that we ve chosen that restaurant. Tonite we wnt to Cecconi's - exact an Italian restaurant.
Food was outstanding, however service was very poor. I was seated at lounge area so I can wait for my friend, but nobody came to me to offer a drink. I had to look for waiter attention, to be able order a drink while waiting for my friend. Once we were seated at the table to have a dinner, once again we had to ask for a waiter as we were left with menus for quite a while. I’ve ordered pasta with truffles, which was on the menu for 35 GBP, but waiteress advises that white is nicer, however she forgot to mention that it will cost 55 GBP not 35 as the one I selected from the menu. Nobody did a check back on the table if food was ok. It was disappointing experience.
Glorious Italian food. Fabulous ambience. Wine portions on the smaller side. Will defo return.
Lovely food, attentive service and great place for special occasion.
At one of the best streets for dining in London you would expect a lot more. Terrible service and not more than ok food for its price.
After the dissapointing night we asked them to get us a cab since it was raining but they did not even try to help us.
Will definitely not go there again!
This was my first time here. Lovely decor, excellent service and great food. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Will surely be back to try out additional dishes in the impressive menu. Nice 👍🏽
Reserved a table for 4 pre theatre took advantage of the limited early doors menu. Starter was a generous portion of beef carpaccio which was ok, the main course however consisted of a tiny portion of watery, tasteless sea bass. Disappointed!
Great food, wine and surroundings
This is a decent place for a business lunch with well priced meals but way too expensive wines.
Outstanding wine list, excellent service, exceptional entrees, pizza appetizers, pasta and steak (tomahawk) cooked to perfection.
Disappointing this time. Poor service and communication, regarding table location and understanding and discussion of the menu. It will be a while before I go back to it.
Frantastic food and service.
Very expensive for what you get which is fairly moderate Italian cooking that many other restaurants in London provide at a much keener price . The scallops were slightly over salted and the seafood linguine was a bit oily - no memorable cooking here. It all seemed a bit tired and the mark ups on the wine list were just greedy.
Fantastic restaurant, beautiful ambiance, friendly staff with excellent service. Amazing Italian food, homemade pasta and traditional recipes.
Just a wonderful evening.
I did the 3-course special and while it was a good value, the food wasn't that great. The chicken was really dry.
Amazing food !!!
A very nice experience with excellent service
Average food and bad service
Overall we had a really lovely experience at Bocconcino, the service and ambience was just what we were looking for, quite lively and upbeat and the waiters had good chat and were friendly. The menu is fairly limited and whilst we both really enjoyed our meals they didn't blow us away. I have to say though the starter of octopus and potato salad was delicious.
Place great. Food prices fair. Food good although one meal tasteless. Wine extortionate. Only one toilet upstairs for everyone. No hand towels left. Bin was overflowing.
Ridiculously expensive for a very average meal. Won’t be returning.
Love the restaurant and the food. Thought the staff were a little stoic. Great experience.
Our overall experience wasn’t great. The waiter was not very knowledgeable. We asked him about an ingredient included in a seafood dish and was told it was a vegetable, when the dish came the unknown ingredient was a type of glutinous pasta/grain. They do not have Italian bread at the restaurant, when we asked for bread we were given pizza crust. One of the members of our party had a gluten allergy and the waiter had no idea what entries contained gluten and which didn’t. Both fish entrees we ordered were full of bones. Most of the food was ok at best. For priding themselves as a fine dining establishment, the food and service were not up to par.
Good food, decent service, crowded tables, medium to high noise level
My husband and I went on a Friday night expecting delicious Italian food given the price tag and were incredibly disappointed with the main course which arrived cold (meat cannelloni) which I sent back and was told after I could not have it as they ran out? My husbands main course went cold (veal milenese which the Ivy do a lot better) whilst we waiting for the pasta dish which I ordered after. The manager quite rightly did not charge us for the main course but sadly the restaurant lacked any atmosphere on a Friday night. The service was appalling and we had to keep asking for our drinks which they forgot about at the end of the night. They need more staff. All in all it was still a very expensive evening for just a starter wine and desert!! We will not be going back would have much preferred a night at pizza express!
Two very distinct seating areas (the cosy comfortable ground floor area where we were seated, and the larger open-plan area downstairs) enables this restaurant to fulfil different needs from cosy 1-2-1 meals (private or business) to celebratory events for larger groups. The food was delicious and the staff very helpful in providing an alternative menu choice when they'd run out of our choice of main course due to its popularity that lunchtime - we had a late-lunch time slot. Very smart restaurant in a very smart part of town. Impressive.
We attended for the first time for our anniversary. It has been the best first time restaurant I have tried this year. Staff were very attentive and made us feel extra special. Food was fantastic and prepared quickly.
The food was average and overpriced. Drink v expensive £ 60 for a bottle of prosessco is outrageous. We were sat by fresh fish displays and were bothered by files. I have had better food at Zizzi !
Good for business meal would recommend
For a £400 bill (4 people, no wine!) I would expect top notch but this was the opposite! The service was appalling and some of the food non-edible!
I thought we would eat in the main restaurant but we were lead into the back where it’s not as nice and our table had a pillar between two seats which made communication difficult.
My scallops for starters were nice but the tuna for main was almost cold and the worst were the sides! The green beans were hard and the Brokkoli had tons and tons of garlic on them, it was just not edible!!! How can a restaurant charge that much money for such terrible food??
And worst was the service! Our waiter, a bold, middle-aged guy, was so rude! He was unfriendly and when I told him about the Brokkoli, he just waved it off and said “yeah,ok” like meaning “yeah whatever, I don’t care!”
Shame, I wanted to show our special guests one of the thousand amazing restaurants that London has to offer but this was a total fail! Won’t come back, that’s for sure!
We really enjoyed our meal the pasta was fantastic and the set price menu was fantastic value. The focaccia bread was a little overdone but other than that it was a fantastic evening. I will definitely go back.
At first we were concerned about the vibe down stairs. Once we were brought up to our table we were very pleased with the atmosphere and crowd.
The food was very good. The pappardelle with mushroom and an extra white truffle shave was FANTASTIC. The bread is worth the calories
Outstanding service from start to end. My guest and I had one of the most enjoyable meals, truly authentic Italian food. The veal milanese is one of the best I've tried in London, and my guest equally enjoyed the risotto. Our waiter was attentive and nothing was too much trouble! We enjoyed a great bottle of red wine highly recommended by the sommelliere. Definitely will be returning, with such a central location, its the ideal spot.
We wanted to give this restaurant a good rating but unfortunately we can’t. Our server Roberto was fairly new and spoke little English. Fortunately one of us spoke Italian. The descriptions of the food we asked about was incorrect and simple requests could not be made by the kitchen. The Veal Milanese was nothing more than a large dry fried veal cutlet. Very little taste and garnished with a small amount of arugula. The Tagliatelle with veal rage was bland and overtaken by the mound of rage. Both dishes were priced very high. We did enjoy a delicious bottle of red wine. All in all I would select another place if looking for Italian food in London.
Very disappointed with my experience at bocconcino. Our table was booked for 9pm for 6people. when we arrived we were told to wait at the bar until table is ready. After 20 minutes when no one was coming back to us we asked them again just to find out they gave our table to someone else so we have to wait until someone else leaves (they weren’t even going to tell us).
When we finally got our table the orders got mixed up. They didn’t ask who ordered what they just put the plates as they liked.
When one of my friend got her meal she specified she has some allergies and just to make sure her meal has non of it. When they brought her meal they still didn’t know if it has any of it. By the time they find out the dish was cold.
We also ordered a steak that comes with the sides. We had to asked twice where are the sides as they forget and aswell they served the sides after the main meal..
(Also don’t order pornstar martini as it’s very bad in here. Don’t know about other cocktails as it was the only one I tried)
The set menu was massive, too much food. It was nice though. We got forgotten about at the end of the meal, not sure what that was all about. Nice ambience and good restaurant overall.
Terrible and rushed service in our personal experience. Avoid at all costs!! The waiters are more interested in internal conversations and then rushing you to order so 12.5% can be added to your meal and the next guests can be served with an additional 12.5% added- very clever tactic! Oh and the lowest cost bottles of Wine and Prossecco are conveniently out of stock- again, clever! More interested in profit than the service.
The food was really overpriced. The aubergine and mozzarella starter was £17 yet it was miniscule! It’s only aubergine, a bit of tomato and cheese - how expensive is it to make?
We had the seabass on Specials to share for two with green beans and potatoes - really nothing special at £70 and I have tasted better in chain Italian restaurants such as Zizzi’s.
We were initially going to order seperate seabass which came with potatoes, olives and tomatoes at £22 each but the waiter told us to go for the seabass for two instead. Only later we discovered that it was £70 and had we just ordered what we originally wanted, it would have been £44 all together. I thought that was really poor.
I eat in Mayfair\ Chelsea all the time and don’t mind shelling out for food - in fact trying out new restaurants is my pass time - but I must also get value for money and not just feel that I have paid in excess for a basic meal and pretty much just funded the restaurants overheads, rent and rates,
