I caught up with a couple of girl friends here for dinner. The food was good but not spectacular. Service was friendly. Restaurant had a nice, small-business feel, I'm pretty sure it's operated by the owners. I would certainly come here again for a catch up with friends over a decent meal. It wasn't as busy or loud as other options in the Old Street / Shoreditch area (a good thing!) and I thought the food and wine were reasonably priced.
Delicious food! We definitely go back again soon
We went with a large group. The food took some time to arrive but was tasty. I had the halloumi starter and chicken tagine, both were very nice.
Excellent value for money. Ideal for 2 or 4 and was well accommodated. The offers were a little misleading you are only able to opt for one of which we discovered only when going to pay. Otherwise very enjoyable experience indeed
It's difficult to decide when you read mixed reviews. But I can certainly vouch for the good ones and glad that a few odd sods didn't put us off. The restaurant is small cosy and very friendly. The ambience traditional which makes it even more special. The food was simply amazing and plentiful. A great and memorable night. Will definitely go back.
Was looking for vegetarian options near Shoreditch and found this great little Moroccan place - the mixed veggie mezze starter was excellent, and both mains (veg tagine and baked aubergine) were v tasty. With 30% off food offer, was great value too. Would recommend!
Really wonderful food, all of our tagines were delicious! The desserts were so good we ordered seconds (of the pistachio) creme brulee. Uber generous glassed of wine. The restaurant was only manned by one waiter, but we never felt neglected and service was pretty speedy. Also a great, buzzy atmosphere the whole time.
When we arrive to the restaurant we had to wait for more than 15 min even when they had free tables. Also the manager explained to us that we can not choose lamb from the menu because wasn't include in the offer ( doesnt say anything on the web). The food was all right ( nothing special) but small dishes. Service horrible and we have to pay the service tax because we use the 50% disscount even if we didnt want to. And for the last thing the bill was wrong and they refuse to change it!!! Don't go is not worth it!!
Dinner date for two. Extremely good value - came to £26 each for three courses and a bottle of non-house red wine. Food was really good quality - I had the pigeon breast to start; seafood tagine for main; and fig tart with mango sorbet for dessert. He had scallops to start; royal couscous for main; and chocolate fondant for dessert. The only disappointments were the size of my couscous side dish - for £2 I would have expected more than three teaspoons worth of unseasoned cous cous! Also, the lamb on his cous cous was a bit tough. Otherwise the quality of the food and level of service was great. Nice atmosphere.
Not inspired food, The mezes were nice, but the chicken was less interesting than most home cooked meals. The restaurant was fairly empty when we were there but service was quite slow.
Nice Moroccan restaurant. We will go again
Food is always good! I picked something different this time and didn't love it like the other meals I've eaten here but it was still good. Restaurant was reasonably busy with only one waitress, she was great but service took a little while. Great value will go back.
Used the 50% off food deal at Bogayo with three friends for dinner the other day. Everything about that place is faultless!
Really authentic, cosy restaurant with staff who really seem to care about you! I couldn't decide what dessert to order so asked the waiter to surprise me - i've never done that before but after the incredible main course (I had a mixed meat couscous - probably the first meal ever that I haven't finished, the portions were huge!), had a lot of trust in the waiter's choice for me.
The chocolate fondant and ice cream definitely didn't disappoint!
To top it off, 50% off our food was unreal value!
Would 100% go back to Bogayo, many thanks!
I went for dinner with a friend and we had a very nice time. The restaurant is small, quite and really nice, so is appropriate if you need a place for a romantic night.
We found the food very good, the menu is not complicated. You can find several choice between meat, fish and vegetarian dishes in one page of menu. I definitely suggest to try the figs tartar.
I went with a friend and enjoyed the food but the service was super slow to the point where it hampered our enjoyment of the meal. I would not recommend for this reason. It was also a Wednesday night so you would expect that they would be able to cope with demand.
Good service, nice lamb tagine, nice halloumi starter, nice enough ambience. But the aubergine starter was disappointing, and the chicken couscous was bland. Overall just average. You might get luckier with other dishes, or have different taste buds! With half off food, it was reasonably priced.
Took my vegetarian friend for her birthday. The food was tasty (we shared the vege mezze to start and then she had a vege tagine and I had the fish) and it did not break the bank. The staff also sang my friend happy birthday as I requested when bringing out our dessert (chocolate pot - also yummy). They also recommended a good wine that was very reasonably priced.
I was visiting my daughter and her boyfriend with a friend in London. I spent ages choosing a restaurant with good vegetarian choices and an interesting menu. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent, service great, and loved the ambience. We would definitely go again and would be happy to recommend this restaurant. Just our sort of food. The fig pudding was delicious.
Very special bit of Morocco in the heart of London. I had not been to a Moroccan restaurant so I didn't know what to expect, but if all Moroccan restaurants are like the Bogayo I will certainly be eating Moroccan food again. The food was lovely we had the shared mezze for 2 and we both enjoyed all the different flavours, the mains were all beautifully cooked and also bursting with flavour. The price was excellent value. In brief a really friendly restaurant, lovely food and outstanding value.
Lovely place although very small but outstanding food. Would definitely recommend, affordable even without the 50% off offer. Would dine there again
I honestly have to score it zero having eaten similar cuisine during my few years in Morocco. No care or love or flavour in the food, harrira wasn't amazing, the couscous was below par and the portions are very much on the small side.
The price is fair I guess considering it is london.
If you are not familiar with Moroccan food I guess it's suitable.
Lovely Decor, fresh fish but we were expected a bit more interesting food. .. Staff were pleasant but not as attentive. There were problems with credit card terminal so had to go out side to local cash point which was rather inconvenience.
Really lovely staff and great venue. Was a little quiet as was an early week night. Food was nice enough but do not expect gourmet, excellent value and I would go again.
Four of us ate and all had started and mains with some desserts. We dined on the opentable offer and when seated we were told that there some restrictions on what could be ordered (at least one of which we'd been considering). This was not made clear at the time of booking. Also, one of the mains we wanted to order had ran out. Food was fairly average but the house was wine was quite nice and service was pleasant though we were asked to move tables later in the meal to accommodate new diners that required tables for 2. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and nice staff so we had an enjoyable evening but would not rush back for the food.
Amazing food, I was impressed the food didn't come out within 2 minutes of ordering... Which tells me it was all made fresh.
Surprised they also had cocktails.
Definitely will be going again!
The sticky toffee pudding dessert was out of this world. Loved it!
Great food and service and the menu options were easy to choose from. The food has lots of flavor and the setting makes you warm and calm. Well worth a visit
Overall there was nothing wrong with Bogayo, but there was also nothing remarkable about it. Food was tasty but not exciting, service was good, cocktails were standard.
We had a fantastic meal here. Didn't look much from outside but we really enjoyed the food, the service and the restaurant was lovely inside. A real hidden gem, perfect for couples in this dimly lit small place.
Definitely will return.
Good restaurant. recomend.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Friendly service and a nice ambience ensured a lovely night out at this small but cosy restaurant.
The place does not look like much outside, but when we entered it cosy and warm which suited the group and new years eve dinning. The food was great however for people who don't like trying new things would not recommend as others were still left feeling hungry, The desert was very lovely though . The service was ok not great, very quick to clear plates as a hint.....you came you ate you go. The price was affordable although we were given a special promotion as part of booking and only on selected items but still affordable I would go there again as I know what to expect. for first time dinners only if they want to try new food not for all pallets.
I'd definitely recommend trying this place the food was outstanding and really well presented.
A firm favourite, food is lovely . Staff are friendly and attentive
Having recently returned from Morocco I was looking forward to sampling some more Moroccan food without the hassle of flying. The restaurant was smaller than I expected and being sat next to a group table I found the relaxed atmosphere that was there when I arrived, quickly disappear into a rowdy enclosed space. That's fine if you are expecting this sort of atmosphere, but probably through my lack of research I didn't realise how small the place was. If I was to nit-pick some more, I would also mention that the restaurant door opens straight onto the street, so a cold draft whizzed through the restaurant every time someone left. They have also stopped the Shisha which was a shame. Other than that, the service and food was impeccable. 3* !
This was a return visit to Bogayo and, as always, the food and service were excellent. We both had tagines (one meatball and one squid), both of which were delicious, folowed by our usuall dessert of mini-patstries - yum! There was a slight problem regarding moving tables, which was slightly annoying. However, we were given a sincere apology and a free glass of wine, which more than made up for any inconvenience caused. Would most definitely recommend, particularly with the 50% off food offer.
Went for an evening meal with 3 other friends. Although the food portion was small, it was delicious! Desserts were excellent and the sticky chocolate is highly recommended.
We booked prime time Sat evening. Place was completely full, mainly with groups - one of them large (20ish people). We were slightly ahead of the groups in ordering. We had 3 courses all of which were ordered smoothly and delivered quite quickly despite the number of people in the place. Starter was good quality and quantity, main good quality and average quantity, desert good and good. We also had a bottle of wine. £48 for 2 of us (50% off food deal) was very good value for money. The overall amount of food was good and so was the quality. I felt if the main had been a little more tasty I would have rated this resto as very good overall. Having said that I would say to anyone reading this to give the place a try
We had a "chicken bastilla" and a lamb cous cous. Bastilla is a kind of sweet and sour mix of almonds, vegetables and meat and the one eaten in Bogayo was quite good but nothing outstanding. The cous cous with a large lambshank was in the average even if the lamb was tender, soft and cooked in the right way. I know the real Moroccan food and recipes and I can tell the you will not disappointed going to Bogayo but you have not to hope for the excellence in Moroccan dishes
The proprietor is very polite and give a warm welcoming: ask for him if you want explanation of the dishes in French, Arabic or Italian
Last minute decison to go here, found it easily in a busy area. Very much enjoyed the food, we had the deal, recommend the deal
We really enjoyed the place, food was lovely. Great service and great price
