Since joining Bohemia in 2013 Steve has racked up an impressive list of accolades such as being named Catey Chef of the Year, being listed in The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants with special praise given for desserts 6th in the UK for restaurants to enjoy dessert in.
We think that dining in Bohemia is not just eating but a wonderfully exciting way to experience dining at its best. We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you when time allows.
Our 3rd visit to Bohemia and it won't be our last; looking forward to our Jersey holiday next year. The food is the best we've ever eaten anywhere and the service is just right, not overly intrusive, just attentive. Well done everyone that makes it so special.
The food was faultless . The service was poor . Having to poor my own water , ask for wine to be topped up . At Michelin level not acceptable. We weren’t the only table to have this issue Eaten here loads since they opened & know how good it can be .
Fantastic meal lovely relaxed feel right through the meal the staff very attentive but not intrusive they were in no hurry to get us out had the surprise meal added interest to the evening would go again if we come back to Jersey
We spent £445 on a wine that was in poor condition, a wine that got progressively less enjoyable as we drank it. It was the customer's perfect nightmare. A great wine gets more and more amazing as you drink it : this Chateau Palmer 1999, given a 99/100 score by Robert Parker, and which I have drunk on no less than 4 previous occasions, should have been outstanding. It was not. We were obliged to leave two full glasses at the end of our meal. I shall be writing to the executive manager when I have time once back home. The discount of £45 was a gesture by the restaurant, but not a fair recompense for our disappointment and loss.
I had the surprise menu with the sommelier’s matching wines. The 6 courses and amuse bouchée were all extremely enjoyable. Value for money was excellent. If you’re in Jersey I’d definitely recommend going to Bohemia especially to have the mid week surprise menu.
This is the first restaurant we have visited where the chef offers a "Surprise" taster menu, which is "just what it says on the tin". Those with a cynical attitude might think this is a cunning way of using up small quantities of food insufficient to offer on the main menu and it may be so, but perhaps this should be applauded. It does mean that a Surprise menu for one table might be different to that for another. Anyhow, we chose to go with it and were not disappointed, with every dish served beautifully and seasoned to perfection (for my taste). It certainly didn't feel like we were getting "left-overs". Service was faultless and totally non-intrusive, presided over by the excellent Thomas. I prefer to select my own wine, so we did not go for the wine flight, but chose a single bottle from the excellent list.
So far so good (excellent in fact), but now to the reason I did not give 5 stars across the board and that is the music. There is no partition between the restaurant and the bar and despite the fact that the bar was practically empty, there was loud, bass-heavy, relentlessly percussive music playing throughout our entire meal, which spoiled the experience for me. I am not one of those people who prefer to eat in a tomb-like atmosphere, but this was very intrusive and unacceptable. Sorry Bohemia, but quite frankly I am amazed the Michelin inspectors awarded a star here with that sort of racket going on.
Asked for the vegetarian menu for my girlfriend, although she doesn’t like eggs so they offered to change the two courses containing and replace with something else, brought out the two dishes without the egg which was then left mushroom ice cream on the first and a couple of bits of sweet corn on the other course, had we known this I would’ve just eaten the egg off her dish. Extremely expensive for something that there was absolutely zero attempt to cater to us. Disappointed to say the least. Service was decent other than that and food was mostly alright.
A wonderful evening and a delight to finally visit Bohemia. Thank you to all the staff who made the evening even more special . The Fish Menu was delicious and the wine lovely too.
Will certainly be returning...thank you
This was a magnificent culinary experience. Truly fantastic!
When visiting a Michelin star restaurant one has great expectations. At lunch the place was empty. The table decorated with a sad looking plant. We had to explain the dietary restrictions 3 times to the waiter. We got 2 appetizers which were followed by a 6 course surprise menu. The food was good but not up to Michelin standard. I would expect pictures on a plate with food preparations you cannot easily copy at home. The wine pairing was very good. Also the toilets were super clean.
First time at Bohemia for a while - food, service and wine were all great - great wine input from the sommelier - I thought the wine pairing was a bit pricey for what we got but everything was excellent - will be there soon
Certainly worth its Michelin star, excellent dining experience!
We went for a special occasion with our daighter. We had the surprise taster menu and it was fabulous. A lovely long lunch.
Had lunch on our day trip to Jersey. Absolutely wonderful on all counts. If we can come back then next time we will make sure we have an overnight stay so we can have dinner here so good was our experience.
We were very dissapointed. The food looked good but in the main was flavourless. The scallop was overcooked and tough and the Turbot again way overcooked to the pint were the flakes were all seperated and dry. How a Michelin star restaurant can send out food lie this is beyond me. When we complained the matre d offered £10 off a £220 bill for 2 - insulting to say the least. Having spoken to the taxi driver on the way home he asked us what we thought and said over the last few months many of his fares had complained and said they would not go back. You can add us to the list.
A fantastic place to enjoy top quality food, Thomas (I think the maître d′) is a huge asset to this restaurant! Thanks to the whole team.
Our third visit to Bohemia and the food was excellent, possibly the best we have had there. However, we did not feel that the service was as good as it had been. It was not the calm unflustered service that we had experienced previously and some of the little touches were missing - almost a lack of personal service, the staff seemed distracted. In addition, the noise from the adjacent bar, particularly from one group, was incredibly invasive.
A little trouble finding it as streets are not well marked... but once there it was a wonderful experience. We have tried "secret" menues before but this one was the best ever. Many times with a multi-course tasting menu the portion are so small that you leave hungry. Not here. Food was creative and beautifully presented. We highly recommend the wine-pairing option. And leave time for a cocktail... dozens of types of gin... each one paired with special ingredients... and a rose colored/flavored liquor that is unique to this location. We are surprised it has not been awarded a second star already. And quiet enough to hold a nice conversation, something missing in so many restaurants lately. One thing we wish they would include would be a "souvenir" type menu of what had been served.
It was a very special night for us. The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic.thank you so much for making our special night so great.
Far from Bohemia
For our 32nd anniversary
dining out seemed precursory
After reading reviews on social media
we booked weeks ahead for Bohemia
My wife arrived in her wheelchair
Maitre de’s nose shot in the air.
When reminded of her food allergies
we were quoted a long list of technicalities.
When boiled fish and broccoli were presented
we felt our special night had ended.
With expectations sorely dashed
we rolled home deeming the evening a car crash.
This was a very special occasion and we were treated like royalty. Even though I had forgotten to mention my dietary requirements, the staff ensured I was catered for and my food was amazing. The homemade gluten free bread was the best bread I have ever eaten. In itself, this was a small miracle as gluten free bread normally has the consistency of cardboard. The wine suggested to complement the venison suited it perfectly and the staff were informative, polite and friendly. We chose 3 courses and the lobster starter, venison main and blackberry and apple desert were all outstanding. All of the flavours worked so well together and I cannot recommend Bohemia highly enough.
We had the prestige menu and it was a very nice experience.
It‘s a fantastic dining experience! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The wine recommendation was beyond expectations!
Very good food, Nice entourage, friendly personel.
Our second visit here and the food was even better this time round lots of little extras before and in between our meal you really need a good appetite to dine here
The Pescatarian Option wasn't available on the night we visited, but Thomas enquired with the Chef and they were able to put together 6 seafood dishes for us to try.
Amazing evening, the food and wine were excellent. Lovely friendly atmosphere, chating with other diners about what they had eaten and how many times they had visited. We didn't have room for the cheese and biscuits, so went back the following evening to finish off the meal 😊
Very friendly staff. Helpful and smiley. Recommended the surprise menu . Was amazing . Food was fun and delicious .
Had a wonderful meal, they were happy to swap out one of the starters as neither my husband or I like oysters. Fantastic experience.
Bohemia is a special occasion destination- if you are serious about food prepared with care and imagination, and service and surroundings to match, this cannot be equalled in Jersey and is the equal of most Michelin-started restaurants in London. After 45 years regularly visiting the island it is a joy to find food of this quality at last.
I was hugely disappointed by Bohemia. travelling to Jersey the first time and want to treat my mum with a M1 restaurant. the Deco was very good, but why on earth some table has lights and some don't? we were placed on the table that doesn't have light. and it feels like we were put in a cupboard room that no one wants to be in. the food were WAY too salty! it actually makes one do that face! we went for the Surprise tasting menu and yep, surprise we got! some of the courses were OK. To be honest, the only good dish I can remember is courgette flower stuffed with crab meat, and the bag of breads. The service? I was never so angry with a restaurant about its service before! they took my plate away while I am still eating!!! how is that even possible? I was still chewing away and when they took the plate away, it nearly hit my chin! you can see how unprepared I was! No one ever did that! I know it's late lunch and they might want to close and prepare for dinner, but you just don't take your guests plate away in that manner. let alone this claimed to be an M1 star restaurant! anyway, enough said. It was a bad experience and I have told all my friends and business contacts NOT to go there unless they want to experience something "out of this world"!
Whilst this was very good felt that the large party in same room was far to noisy and would have been better in a room of their own. It made talking with my partner very difficult which spoilt the evening a bit.
we went to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday. the gentleman who initially looked after our table was a little abrupt but I'm not sure if that was a language behaviour however he was very helpful in suggesting drinks and choosing menus. we opted for the 7 course taster menus. the service of the dishes and the dishes were lovely. I felt some of the courses were a little too spaced out. we got to the final courses and were offered coffee. my husband was reluctant but I said yes. the wait was not good given how late in the night it was and my husband tried to cancel our order but unknown to him they were arranging a little birthday surprise. as lovely as that was, I couldn't really understand why that took so long as they had notice of his birthday. around the same time I could see a customer having to retrieve her own coat from the cloakroom and a lady having to ask where her dessert was. over the years we have been to plenty of Michelin starred restaurants but the service at this one was not seamless as I have experienced. overall lovely food but the experience was not as amazing as it could have been.
Would not rate this Michelin star level.
Food was very good, but have had much better at no star restaurants . The ambience was nothing special...
Excellent night out, great food and service.
Will be back!
This restaurant is absolutely outstanding.
The food was simply divine and the staff were so attentive.
We were concerned about the level of noise when we entered the bar, as the restaurant is just off the bar but to be honest you didn't really notice it once seated.
I would highly recommend!
Terrific food that is very unique and with so many different flavours in each individual dish. Prepared and served to perfection. Our Sommelier was so friendly, unlike mane we’ve encountered elsewhere - he will he missed!
It will be our go-to place for all future special occasions.
Fabulous food, beautifully presented with discrete professional service. Courses well spaced to enjoy each course. Strong work ethic very evident and very unique that tasting menu's can be mixed on the same table. Only downside was the rather loud funky music coming from the bar which would detract from an enjoyable evening of quiet conversation. Michelin star is most certainly deserved a special treat.
Bohemia is the most fantastic restaurant i have ever eaten in. My husband and I along with my parents celebrated our wedding in bohemia for lunch after saying our vows. Everything was amazing and the food was the best I have or will ever eat 5/5
Brilliant food, couldn’t fault anything. Lunch menu of exceptional value. Classic menu superb quality . The freshly bread rolls served in the bag, wow.
Only wished I lived in Jersey allowing me to go again sooner.
Great restaurant with excellent food and service-highly impressed
