Bouchon Bistrot - Hexham
We have been regular customers of Bouchon since it opened and have never had any complaints. The food is always delicious, beautifully presented and served at the right temperature. Every visit is an absolute pleasure. We are very fortunate to have Bouchon in our locality. We look forward to every visit.
Good value for the lunch time menu.
Good value for the lunch time menu.
Unfortunately Bouchon Bistrot is 320 miles from where we live otherwise it would definitely be my restaurant of choice.
We own a time-share at Slaley Hall and visit just once a year both to the venue and Bouchon Bistrot it is a special place to dine.
Tasty, well prepared classic French cuisine. Good wine list. Intimate ambiance
We went for the Early Bird Menu. Good choice of starters, mains and dessert. All freshly prepared and nicely presented. Good friendly service from owner and the young male waiters who were very polite and attentive. Have not been to Bouchon for several years but really enjoyed coming back for a meal. Early Bird Menu very good value. Thankyou
Yes , very pleasant but a little too far from where I live to make a weekly visit but well worth calling in on passing
Excellent food and a genuinely French atmosphere and approach. As in France, wine is served in carafes so less than a whole bottle but more than a glass is possible. I have never eaten from the full menu but the three course early bird menu is good value with no compromise on quality. We were unfortunate to be sitting next to a loud middle class family who thought they were the only people there and that they had no responsibility for the noise made by their children. That is a Hexham issue rather than a Bouchon one.
As always the food and service were excellent. It was the first time that two of our party had been to Bouchon and they absolutely loved it. They want to go again next time they visit.
Bouchon never disappoints - superb French cuisine prepared and served with care in pleasant surroundings. Gregoire and his team deserve every plaudit! If you have not been there, go soon - and if you have, go back soon too!
Authentic French cuisine to a very good standard, served by very pleasant and helpful staff. My gluten free diet was ably catered for.Would highly recommend.
Booked online the day prior to our visit. Had a superb meal from the early bird menu which we both enjoyed immensely. The waiter also recommended a French Malbec/Merlot which was lovely too. Always an excellent restaurant!
An absolutely delightful dining experience; what a treat. The service was perfect, attentive but not intrusive. The lunch menu modest but offered really good variety. And the food? Just exquisite. Better than I had anticipated; highly recommended and worth the money
Excellent French cuisine. Attention to detail with presentation of food very good
Absolutely wonderful meal on Saturday lunchtime with my husband & 2 yr old toddler. We went for his Father's Day treat so was lovely going to a restaurant which was special to us. It is the restaurant he proposed to me in!
The food was sensational, delicious, beautifully prepared & well presented. The lunch menu had some great choices for all 3 courses. The maitre d was so good with our little boy, entertaining him. Samuel was so well behaved throughout, which we were very grateful for as it was the best part of 2hrs for lunch. He eveb showed off some of hus French words to the waiter. The restaurant is one of our firm favourites.... fantastic food, lovely atmosphere & setting, superb service. Highly recommend! Good value too
Always a super experience...our favourite restaurant.
The food is pretty good, but this place is all about the service and the atmosphere. The maitre d’ is superb. He’s witty, skilled & soooo French. The meal was well timed- no rushing & the set menu of 3 courses for£20 is just fantastic value. Love it!
Excellent place to visit after the race day.
Delicious food and wine with excellent service - typically French!
Excellent service and food outstanding. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere
I always love dining here, I'd say it's my favourite restaurant in the UK!
I took a star off the "ambiance" rating only because I find the downstairs slightly more lovely than the upstairs but that is really being very picky.
Looking forward to our next visit already, many thanks!
I really could not suggest any improvement to my starter and main dishes, it tasted faultless! I had french classics of onion soup and a duck confit. However, my cheese dessert came with bread that was simply stale, otherwise it would have been full marks all around. Great staff and yes, I would make the 23 mile journey to Hexham using public transport again to enjoy this place !!
We had a lovely meal at this authentic French restaurant. The menu choices were excellent. It was great to practice our French on one of the waiters.
As always gorgeous food & a lovely atmosphere. Such good value for money, especially the set menu. Book if you can to make sure you get a table as it was really busy on a wet, miserable Tuesday evening. We'll be back soon.
Lovely as always.
French onion soup is the biggest reason to visit Hexham
We love this place. Authentic French cooking with relaxed and friendly atmosphere, great menus including 3 courses for £17. The steak frites is to die fir
If you are booking for after 7.30pm it is very pleasant not be rushed to order quickly, eat and vacate the table, as would be the case elsewhere.
The food was delicious, staff very polite and welcoming. We sat upstairs and loved the decor. Gorgeous restaurant for that special occasion.
Very tasty starters - seared scallops, cheese souffle and smoked mackerel followed by excellent rump steaks and crispy duck. Superb French cuisine.
My wife and I introduced two other couples to the delights of Bouchon. They were all very impressed by the quality that we have now almost taken for granted: professional service, a pleasant bit of provincial France in Hexham, a well chosen menu and excellent value. Long may the French flair and high standards of cuisine prevail!
Delicious food and great service.
We had the cheese souffle amd scallops to start followed by ribeye steaks and chocolate fondant for dessert and I have to say every single bit was superb, there was nothing to fault. We will definitely be going back again.
We have lunched and dined at this restaurant simply because it is one of the best we have ever visited. We will regularly celebrate various family events at le bouchon because we love it and the food and service is superb.
A treat for me and family, not an everyday experience. Good value lunch menu. Something a little different to the normal. Pleasant people and helpful service. I enjoyed the food, flavourful, well cooked and nicely presented. The atmosphere, at lunch, was lively and the room itself is again, a bit different to an average place to eat.
If you wish you were in France but find you're in Northumberland, don't worry as you can always call in here.
There's always a good range of dishes for each course and there are options for vegetarians too. Everything is very well presented.
We had the early bird menu which is on offer until 9pm on a Monday. Outstanding food, delicious and very well done. Service excellent and wine also very good value. Wish we were locals and could go every week.
Starter #1 was a veal dish. The veal was chunky and a bit chewy. Starter #2 was a mackerel dish. My partners comment is, ("it was alright").
Mains #1 was a stone bass dish. The fish was a bit overdone and the skin was a fraction off of burnt. Dish was spoilt by bones (x 2) in the fish portion.
Mains #2 was a confit duck leg. This was stated as being very good.
For the wine accompanying the meal we chose a carafe of the house red, which was superb.
Excellent food and service. Early evening menu was good value.
We really enjoyed our meal and will go again. Parking was convenient, too.
Lovely food, very attentive service. Very much enjoyed our dinner.
The menu is very good value but my main course was a bit cold and the food felt like it had been hanging around - not the chicken .
