Bramleys Brasserie at The Orchard hotel
Deep fried in a spicy breadcrumb with roasted red pepper relish. Served in a brioche bun with fries
Rump steak with onion marmalade, beef tomato and rocket on a ciabatta loaf
Served with samphire, mussels and jersey royal potatoes
When we got there they said we hadn’t booked. We ordered a bottle of wine, half an hour later they came back saying they run out of the wine, 10 min after the waitress returned with a bottle of said wine. Ordered appetisers, they took almost 1 hour to get to us after complaining 3 times, once arrived they were not hot. The main course took almost 2 hours to arrive, again had to complain several times, luckily that was hot, although the top of my rice was clearly dried out. We were next to teenagers (some sort of summer school) very noisy and messing around as teenagers do. Still the restaurant should have placed them in a function room and not next to full paying customers, I don’t blame the teenagers at all. I felt very disappointed as this has been the worst dining experience we have had for a very, very long time. The waitress worked extremely hard, I don’t feel that any of this is her fault. Not what you want after celebrating your child’s special day
The main course menu was mostly curries, burgers, salads or pizzas and what we had was well cooked and presented and tasted good.
The desert menu was very disappointing- a chocolate pudding, icecream and sorbets or cheese. The cheese plate didn't have everything on it listed in the menu.
Our waitresses we lovely, they were very busy and as a result service was slow but they were cheerful and efficient.
Food was excellent however the service is a big let down staff are extremely slow which is a shame as every dish we had was lovely although we waited for too long
Sadly our experience at the Bramleys Brasserie at the Orchard Hotel was not a good one. We were having a celebratory evening meal prior to my daughter’s graduation at the University of Nottingham. The service was extremely slow and some of the food served was tepid and sub-standard. We sat down as booked at 7.30pm but did not leave the restaurant until 9.45pm. Waiting staff were pleasant enough but seemed to be poorly managed and did not even know the table plan. The time between ordering and first course and then first and second courses was too long. I had to ask where our desserts were after waiting for 30 minutes for them. Two of the four main courses we ordered were tepid/cold and all the chips were stale. I raised these issues with staff but received no explanation or recompense. Our celebratory meal was spoilt by this experience and I could not, based on our experience, recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Lovely food, good portion sizes, a nice ambience with friendly service, despite being short staffed. Overall I would recommend.

My steak was not bad but my wife's burger was awful. Salty, thin and burnt. Would not go back but as a meal in a moderate hotel, you could not complain, just would not go back.
I was shown to my table very quickly and given a choice of seats. I asked for the early bird offer that I had seen on the TV in the room, the gentleman serving said he would come back to me. Some of the team seemed to be searching in the cupboards for the menu, however he came back after 3-4 mins and explained what it was. My drinks order was brought over quickly and I asked to order, this was repeated to me and was cooked quickly. The standard of food was very good, except for the peppercorn sauce which tasted ok but was very runny.
Ok food fine but nothing special. Price ok, a little on the pricey side
Lovely post graduation meal. Service was excellent - very friendly staff and all congratulated me for graduating. Food was excellent and the 3 course for £25 was great for a celebratory meal. Delicious salmon starter and pannacotta for dessert.

Fairly limited choice. Tasty food (apart from the rock hard avocado pieces in the salad!) but not that generous portions. Slow cooked lamb with mash, mushrooms & broad beans - delicious but tiny amount of sauce, mushrooms & broad beans. Friendly waitress. Breakfast was excellent!

Great location and good hotel. You do not have to be a guest to eat there. Breakfast is reasonable and staff are friendly.

Meal took 2.5 hours overall with it taking 1 hour to receive starter. Asked for tap water 4 times before it arrived. Despite having paid for dinner on dinner, bed and breakfast package with hotel, the restaurant did not have this information and charged us for meal which we then had to speak to them about. Very poor experience.
Food good but overpriced
It was our anniversary and were staying at the hotel. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food was good, hot and presented well. Nothing too much trouble.
The food in innovative and delicious. My starter of smoked salmon with an amazing non traditional cole slaw was insane and my main of the cod with samphire was so tasty I'd be happy eating it at least once a week.
The service is top notch, friendly and welcoming we felt looked after the entire meal. I would suggest trying this restaurant if you are in the area not just because you're staying at the lovely Orchard Hotel. Seriously I'd make this my local if I lived in the neighborhood.
The dessert menu is very limited and both desserts were nothing special. Very small portion as well.

Even though we booked for anniversary it was not even noted so didn’t feel special. Other places make a bit of an effort for an anniversary.
We have dined there twice in the last couple of years whilst staying at the hotel for graduation ceremonies.
On both occasions we have been somewhat disappointed with the service in the brasserie, finding it slow and rather disorganised.
Food was excellent but service was considerably slow - be prepared to wait - yes, the place was busy, the hotel/restaurant would have known about the busyness due to rooms being booked in advance but they were not prepared and no extra staff had been brought in
We had an informal business dinner for three in one evening and ordered the main courses. Although the food was served relatively quickly, they have forgotten the food for one of the guests, so we had to wait for him for nearly 10 minutes. While doing so, our food became cold. The waiter did not even notice that the order was not complete when he served the food. The restaurant requires a better customer training to attend tables.
We each had three courses and I have to say, we all commented on how lovely the food was. Compliments to the chef please. I think the Bramleys burger could have been more special, with perhaps a bit of coleslaw or side salad, as it looked very ordinary when it was delivered, but everything else we had that night was outstanding.
Unfortunately the ambience was non-existent as we were there the same time as you were hosting a youth hockey tournament, so the children spoiled the atmosphere with their noise!
I was visiting with a conference, the restaurant was very busy and seemed unable to handle it. The pizza I ordered had mould all over the base!! I checked the pizza was interest as after I ordered I had seen a pizza being sent back, therefore I was shocked they even served mine, it was totally unedible. There was not enough water jugs so we were left without water for the first hour. The staff didn't seem that surprised or bothered about any of this.
Would not return or recommend.
Choose to stay at the hotel as we had been out all day and had tried to get tables elsewhere but were unable to. It was ok but I would not chose to eat there again. Firstly they were only using part of the restaurant so people were put on closely positioned tables. Then our starters were taken to the wrong table.Hence we had quite a wait. Asked for some water - we’ll actually had to ask twice. Mains were nice but the cheese had been missed off my salad and I had to ask. The sweet we had tasted nice but was not worth the price. Banoffee Pie - a small circle of biscuit base with what appeared to be a blob of tinned toffee sauce, a couple pieces of fresh banana and a squirt of cream. Although the chocolate sorbet was very nice. I expected more quality. The staff were nice and helpful.
Nice food but let down by poor service, didn’t receive our first drink until end of main course, offered water never arrived, no cutlery on table, asked for sauce never arrived, 3 members of staff working only 4 tables dining at the time, overpriced and left dissatisfied , visited Friday 15th December 8pm.
Slow service and small portions. Very disappointing value for money.
Lovely environment and the food was great. Unfortunately the restaurant has gained a reputation for slow service especially at busy times. It was fine for us on a quiet lunchtime
This was a really disappointing meal; fish & chips and a burger meal were greasy; an Indian dish was colourless and bland; a smoked salmon salad had a tasteless dressing and potato salad so cold it was impossible to taste the food properly. Portions were small. The staff were very friendly and efficient but could not make up for the poor quality of the food.
As the restaurant was almost empty on what should have been a packed graduation day lunch, maybe other people knew more about this restaurant than we did. Good location but needs to improve the restaurant offer.
The food was good for a business hotel which this clearly is. Great location for visiting Nottingham Uni.
Not what I would call fine dining so it depends on what you're looking for.
For our overnight stay to look around the uni the food was ample but I wouldn't go for an evening out.
This is the third time we have come from Birmingham to enjoy our experience
at this Restaurant. We have never failed to enjoy and congratulate the staff on their discreet but friendly attention. We were celebrating the 90th birthday of one of our group but we didn't publicise it!!!
I've eaten here previously and it has been fine, but on this occasion, after booking the table for a Wednesday lunchtime 10 days previously, I was told the day before that they couldn't now fit us in and that the booking was cancelled.
We had dinners there. Last year we came and enjoyed the signature foods. However, this year the menus are almost the same every day. It was unexpected that the signature notts food was no longer provided, for example, Nottingham batter pudding. :( thats really disappointing... Hope next year they can offer some signature foods.
We were upset that no vegetables or potatoes were included in the meat dishes...if you order pork/pork belly....it will be delicious but that's all you will get. To get potatoes it will be an extra £3 and to get a portion of a vegetable, another £3.now that may be the norm for some people but it is not for us. It was novel that the wine menu comes on a tablet. Service was good. There were quite a few people in when we were there on a Friday night. Our bill for 4 people was £130 ( with no extra potatoes or veg as we didn't realise you had to order separate) which included 1bottle of wine and 3pints of beer. No starter but delicious pudding.

Service: poor - no one saw us to a table for a good few minutes on arrival. We were then shown to a table behind a large screen, even though there were only 2 couples in the restaurant. We were then left for about 10 minutes and were unable to attract any staff's attention to even order drinks! We waited 35 mins for mains as the kitchen was not informed we had finished our starter by the waiter who collected the dishes.
Food/drinks: average - as starter I had seared scallops, which was nice but there were only 2. My dad had celeriac soup which was tasteless. I had beef cheek which tasted like it had been soaked in red wine overnight. Salmon was cooked just right. The rest of the mains was unremarkable.
We went to Bramleys for lunch and were the only people there! Food was served well, of good quality and excellent value.
Service was Shockley slow, they seemed to be loads of staff crowed round the till and trying to get eye contact with anyone was impossible. It took 15mins to be asked for drinks order but we had been shown to our table without a wine list! It then took too long to come back to ask for our order, so we tried to get the attention of the waiter at the till, whom then instead if walking to the table insisted we make sign lanuage to communicate very embassaring, when we complaint about the slow service the excuse was that there was a private party next door, that why the food was slow, it's wasn't the food it was the service we recieved on arrival. They had no note of my booking which then lead us to be stood at the till waiting to b seated

we had a lovely evening with friends eating and enjoying a lovely white wine,Stephen the waiter was attentive and personable and there was a mixture of clientele in the dining room which added to the relaxed ambiance.

A good choice of food for all 3 courses. Enjoyed the Moroccan lamb/couscous so much that we both chose it again the second night we ate there ! Good desserts to share. Friendly and efficient service. Restaurant was full enough to have a buzzy atmosphee, but not so full as to overstretch the staff serving. Felt prices were reasonable. Would definitely eat there again.
