Had a great chicken stew like meal with the leek soup with crusty french bread.
A excellent meal with superb service. Food was very good and nicely presented. Would definitely visit again when in the area.
Pleasant bistro inside The Park Plaza. Nice lighting and low level music. Good menu choice. Reasonable prices for food and wine and friendly staff providing excellent service. Food was very tasty and we appreciated the
‘ birthday’ dessert. I’ve deducted one star because it was uncomfortably hot in there. Also, if on a table for two, one of you sits on a long bench. It’s too low for the table and therefore wasn’t comfortable
Great food and drink and excellent service from Konrad. Would recommend especially to anyone staying in the hotel.
Brasserie Joël, inside the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, is the ideal place for a pre-theatre meal. We booked our table on line for 6 pm as we were going to see Witness for the Prosecution at the County Hall Theatre nearby at 7:30 pm. The set menu was good value and the food excellent. The staff were profesional and very friendly. The room was very pleasant and we did not have to wait a long time for our food which made for a relaxing pre-theatre dinner. We would recommend this restaurant.
Very disappointed compared to excellent visit fortnight ago, spoilt by poor service. Despite choosing pre-theatre menu and ordering deserts before ending main course, unexplained ten minute wait obliged us to cancel deserts. Starter course of tasteless pumpkin soup and soggy still refrigerated vegetable terrine much inferior to quality and preparation of ingredients previously enjoyed.
We were late for our reservation. The staff understood we had theatre tickets and took our order quickly. They served each course in an efficient, but manner that didn’t make us feel rushed. The food was the best we had while visiting London over the entire week. Great menu and service. We’ll be back
And you should not hesitate making a reservation.
My recommendation is based purely on the valentines day experience and is no reflection on any other day. The staff were overwhelmed with the numbers as was the kitchen. I complained after 90mins as the only thing I had to eat was a bread basket and a bowl of soup. The main arrived at 105mins. I decided against waiting for desert. I booked an overnight stay at park plaza for valentines, so really the night was spoiled
Best food I’ve ever eaten great mood great service and also good wine
Good food, reasonable price and friendly staff. Would go again.
We like this place for a quiet pre-theatre meal. It was good but not excellent.
The tuna tartare as a starter was excellent. The main was good but we thought that the carbs that went with either dish didn't quite work. I've just checked the menu and the duck says that its served with a pressed creamed potato but I was served a gratin - maybe someone messed up in the kitchen when plating up?
I'd also say that I called to say that I was running late and nobody picked up the phone - not what I'd expect. The service inside was fine though.
Only had mains and desserts, but the whole experience was genuinely phenomenal. Not 'underpriced' but far from too expensive, and the Mont-Blanc dessert was absolutely incredible. 100% recommend.
Excellent pre-theatre meal, with well-cooked sea bream and guinea fowl with generous serving of chips. Very pleasant and well-informed waitress.
Great service by Conrad, food was delicious and great ambience.
Very pleased with the quality of the pre-theatre menu. Well priced also, and staff were excellent.
For the price the food wasn’t the best. Expected better
Good food and good service; we were well looked after and enjoyed our visit
We knew nothing of Brasserie Joel and therefore came with few expectations - but the food was really excellent and the pre-theatre menu very good value. The room itself could have been anywahere in the world and to our ears the piped music irritatingly loud. However the overall experience was good and I have no doubt we will be back.
We had great service from a fantastic waiter (Konrad) throughout the night. He was polite and accommodating. The French food and selection of wines were amazing which made for a fantastic dinner. Please send my regards to the Chefs
Music was too loud, waiter kept on rushing us to order. Amuse bouche, starters and intermediates were ok, main: venison was cold in the middle and guinea fowl was dry. Desserts were great, but We werent impressed at all. Not good value for our money.
A 4 course New Years Eve dinner: Was charged approximately $200 per person for dinner and no alcohol included. Food was so average and the service was non-existent. Wine list was elementary and entire evening lasted less than 2 hours. The band/performer was very nice and that was the highlight of the evening.
Required to pre-pay for the event; when we ordered a few drinks, and the check arrived, they tried to double charge to gratuity on the entire meal on our drink bill. It was a mess, and there was nothing special about the evening...never again.
Good food, very nice waiters but charged wrongly with table service.
Menu offer should have advertised that drinks were not included.
The meals for four of us varied from good to excellent. The French onion soup was excellent as was the salmon tartar, but the vichyssoise soup was just good. We had a similar experience with main courses, with the tournedos being excellent and the cod just good. The waters were all very attentive but not intrusive, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. I would return and recommend friends try it.
Beautiful food and great service. The Argentinian steak was incredible.
Organised a departmental Christmas lunch at the last minute and had a great time. The food was fantastic and good portion size. S being lunch in the middle of a working day and Christmas still to get through , majority of us opted out to 1 or 2 course meal. Steak cooked to perfection for rare and well done requests. Baked camembert was scrumptious and shared by 4! Plenty of vegetarian options, i had roasted ratatouille with garlic bread - just perfect for a light lunch. A gem of a place for nice lunch within walking distance of St Thomas' Hospital, Westminster and Waterloo.
Amazing service! Food was a bit hit and miss though. We all ordered differently in a party of four, some plates were lovely and worth the money, others a bit of a disappointment. Lovely calm atmosphere.
The food, staff and atmosphere was wonderful. It was my son's birthday and they made it very special.
This was a first time visit and we really enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent, and the service really great - polite, friendly and attentive. They even produced a small birthday dessert for my partner, whose birthday it was. And the prices for a London restaurant were very reasonable. Recommended!
The food was fantastic and incredibly good value but the best part by far was the service. Florin was so accommodating and looked after us so well, we couldn't thank him enough!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the attentive service. Very good value for money and we would definately go again. It was a friend’s birthday and they kindly prepared a little treat for her which was a lovely touch.
Booked pre-theatre meal for 2 and both decided on the steak with sweet potato fries. Steak was perfect with wonderful flavours and fries were crispy and yummy. Added a portion of broccoli separately. It was a 2 course meal for £20 and we both chose creme brûlée, really good. Staff were extremely polite, friendly and professional and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend to anyone and would go again.
They try hard but nothing special.
Plenty of better options for French food.
A bit of a disappointment for a restaurant in classy 4 stars hotel which takes bookings for 9:30pm but then closes kitchen without warning at 10:30ish so that when given cards for desserts, we are then being told that in fact it is too late to order them even though one of of us was paying for the 3 course menu without being given the possibility of a dessert !!! I also had the unfortunate experience to have a taste of bleach or disinfectant in my “wild mushroom and truffle salad” which they tried to pass me for being the strong taste of truffle oil. They were kind enough to make me taste the individual oils and dressing they had used which tasted fine to me as I know and appreciate the nice woody taste of truffle oil so unfortunately, it was probably dishes or utensils badly rinsed. We appreciated the manager’s gesture of compensating the lack of desserts by offering us complementary tea and limoncellos and my salad was initially changed.
Pre theatre fixed menu very tasty and adequate portions for a good price. Very polite staff. In a hotel but that made a nice change. Just a short walk from National Theatre.
Ordered soup and salad and both were of poor quality which made it very expensive and poor value for money which is a shame as the service is excellent
The price is absolutely much too high in view of the quality of the food. The food in a fast food Restaurant is even better. No more. And friends of us eat there some time ago and when we spoke about the Restaurant their comment was as well: no more.
Delicious food and excellent service. Menu has plenty of variety.
Excellent menu and service. Friendly, busy atmosphere - people staying in the hotel bringing their young children. Delicious food. Needs more choice on the wine list below£40.
We've dined at Brasserie Joel many times but not for some time. The menu has altered and with it the standard of food - which has improved. Wine List was excellent too. Service was good and not intrusive. Atmosphere perfect.
Service was excellent (i believe his name was Robert). Food and cocktails were good. It was my birthday and nice that they made a fuss by writing happy birthday on my dessert in chocolate. My only complaint is that the booths by the kitchen were too low (I was eating almost at chest height) and you can’t lean back because the seat slopes forward instead of backwards so your chin ends up pointed towards your chest if you lean back. But otherwise it was a good dinner.
