Always a pleasure to go there . Great food and service . Fantastic cocktail bar too
Fairly bog standard Parisienne Brasserie food at good prices for Central London. The Prix Fixe menu is very good value. We went in tier 2 and there were empty tables between every table so good social distancing.
The venue is the main draw there not the food to be honest.
Oh, the joy, in December of Covid year to return to Zedel's. Wonderful food, great service, tremendous atmosphere.
Amazing food slow service but socially distant tables which was great
It was great start to finish! Loved the food! The ambience and the service. We finished off with drinks in the American Bar and it was a perfect day out. Thank you
beautiful room in central London location. food was fine but nothing to get excited about. I had snails in garlic butter. they arrived luke warm. I now no longer wish to eat snails again.
Everything about zedel was excellent. Even during covid times, the ambience was excellent and the food was exactly what we wanted and expected! Every bit as good as usual.
Made a last minute reservation so really pleased to have acquired a table. First time visit; surprised to see additional queues internally for the different eateries. Bit confusing with no one present to help/guide. Eventually found the right room and was informed I couldn't 'just walk-in' and eat there - perhaps I should try the other rooms - as I hadn't booked. I have booked, I explained. 'Oh?...' He said... It took 15 minutes to enter and be seated and was told we would have to vacate the the table on time as they were 'fully booked tonight'. So despite the delay not being our fault we felt rushed service team constantly bumping into our chairs - despite the extra space between tables due to Covid risk management). Nonetheless the wine was delicious and we left feeling gastronomically content. Determined back in the hope that a more positive memory can be recreated to match the beautiful setting.
Tier 2 restrictions made this a very different lunching experience. Very reduced covers with empty tables between tables in use. Staff so reduced that they couldn’t cope. Onion soup not hot enough (sent back), wrong main course brought and advertised special lunch deal for London Restaurant Festival was in fact no more than the standard prix fixe. Such a shame, we have been devotees for years but this was not good.
A great meal and a wonderful venue and staff to make a family meal feel special.
What an amazing space, really evoking a large French brasserie. Food was very good, excellently priced, and service attentive. And despite these COVID times it was pretty full on a midweek lunchtime - well done!
Unfortunately the Sole meunière made me ill that night. It couldn’t have been fresh. We narrowed it down to the fish as this was the only dish that I didn’t share with my partner who wasn’t ill. The fish was presented while, not even offered to fillet that is a disgrace frankly, for £30 quid a plate. Otherwise it was a pleasant meal. What a pity. Maybe I’ll try again but not the fish!
Brasserie Zedel is one of those increasingly rare oases. First class cuisine and service in an underground haven, decorated in a classical Parisienne style. The associated venues are equally alluring, “Le Crazy Coqs” for cabaret, Bar Americain for classy cocktails and, all underground and, of course, Bar Zedel at street level, for an informal lunch, or use drinks, again in a Parisienne style. One of our favourite retreats in town.
I am always happy to go back.
Attentive service - water, wine (excellent Pinot Noir) and tasty French bread offered straight away. Plenty of choice on the very much French menu as you would expect. We tried between us a tasty celeriac remoulade (heavy on the vinegar), Salade Nicoise (delicious) and French onion soup (great). Main courses of steak Bordelaise, sea bream, boeuf Bourgignon and omelette all got the thumbs up. Reliably good cooking all round. Great atmosphere in the restaurant though I was pleased to be seated kitchen-side rather than with the excellent and lively jazz band. Great spot for night out with friends.
A very special meal was anticipated as this was a catch up of many family celebrations with our sons and their glamorous girlfriends which had accumulated over the last 8 months due to lockdown etc. and well worth the trip down from Norfolk to meet up with them. Brasserie Zedel fulfilled this and more. Covoid precautions were very well observed, from the ingenious remote temperature checks in the frequent sanitisation of surfaces in the restaurant. Our eldest son and his girlfriend had visited before so my wife and I were prepared to be impressed by the spectacular restaurant. Our waitress Sylvana was friendly, efficient and highly professional with excellent knowledge of the menu and service was perfectly paced - at no time were we hurried, ideal as we all had a great deal of catching up to do - video calling has previously been a necessity as my wife and I both fall into the “elderly, vulnerable” sector ( though we don’t feel it!) but was no substitute for our lunch party today. Between us we sampled many dishes, all excellent. As an example I had oysters, followed by steak tartare, and a very indulgent banana sundae. The numerous complimentary petit fours marking our family events were very much appreciated.
We will definitely return, thanks again to Silvana and her colleagues both in the restaurant and the kitchen for a very memorable family event.
Great atmosphere and food as always. Definitely one of the London Gem which never disappoints.
One of my favourite place. Consistently good food and service. Buzzy atmosphere and lovely venue. All spot on. Covid measures very robust
Zedel just reopend for lunch and it was a fantastic experience. We went for a birthday celebration, and we enjoyed it very much.
Service was excellent, we had our temperature taken at the door, and were then shown to our seats, a table that was socially distant.
The food was exquisite, and they offered us a small drink to celebrate the occasion (a very nice touch).
The decor is as beautiful as always.
Highly recommended
Great food and drinks. Lovely ambient live music in the background and exquisite decor. I particularly like the American Bar and thought the welcome drink was a lovely touch.
Not a huge fan of the time limit on the table, considering the spend and the sheer size of the restaurant.
Wonderful food and atmosphere..one of the favourites
Friendly and pleasant service. Would recommend it!
Excellent as always!
Despite there reduced numbers in the current era, Zedel still delivers a serious WOW factor when you walk into the grand dining room! Food was great as always, Service started a little frosty, but warmed up pretty quickly.
Slightly disappointed by the reduced menu. Old staples have gone
A lovely slice of glamour in the old style, and it really doesn’t break the budget... worth a re visit .
Great venue and great service. I thought the food options could have been a bit broader but it's a minor non-complaint
Very pleasant meal and excellent service
Perfect with more outdoor tables and now with a Street cocktail bar and an accordion player
