Brawn opened in late 2010 to great critical acclaim receiving 5 stars from Fay Maschler in the Evening Standard, and a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2011.
What Insiders Are Saying
Brawn in Shoreditch might be one of the city’s best neighbourhood restaurants. One that might even make you want to change neighbourhoods.
The food was out of this world. Service was wonderful, happy and helpful.
The only down side was, an obnoxiously load table of to ladies behind us, but this is not the restaurant fault. All way love coming here and is my number one place I tell people to go in London.
Just generally good
Brawn is hands down my favorite restaurant in London. And I’ll always visit. Best food best wine best staff
Really great food and service. Can’t wait to go back.
A little disappointed in food. High expectation but not met certainly with the pasta dishes.
The food was excellent. A fine dining experience without the pretentious atmosphere. Staff were extremely friendly and willing to talk through the finer points of the menu. Will be returning
The staff squeezed us in when we ended up being about 2 hours early! We had their house champagne, oysters, anchovies, pappardelle and onglet. It was all great!!
The food is very good. Objectively creative and interesting combination of excellent ingredients that are a genuine pleasure to consume. The ambience is a fun bustle of fellow diners enjoying themselves and the food. The occasional calls and clatters from the open kitchen are part of the entertainment and don't detract from your ability to have a conversation.
It might be that my palette isn't ready for the natural end of the spectrum of wines offered but we still enjoyed the ability to try some produce that we would not normally and all under the excellent supervision of the super friendly and brilliantly capable wait staff.
Thanks and see you again
Such great food, brilliant service and a really lovely Saturday lunchtime atmosphere. One of the best restaurants in London!
Terrific quality local restaurant that seems to get better and better
The wine list is unreal - well worth exploring
This is a modern, beautifully designed, cozy restaurant. Interesting delicious food and knowledgable and friendly service. I would go back happily and recommend to my friends.
We have been visiting Brawn every year for the past 4 years, this year for the first time there is noticeable change for the worse. There is a different crew in the kitchen, the quality of food went down. The starters (duck liver) were as usual - quality was there, however the main dishes (turbot and steak ) were not up to par. Both servings of turbot (the most expensive dish on the menu ) were the tail pieces with lots of bones, the flank steak's temperature was too low, it sat in the kitchen too long before served being served. This place was impeccable, unfortunately not any more
Great visit to Brawn started with radishes smoked cods roe and moved onto crab starter then the succulent pork chop and the steak. Had some cheese to go with the rest of our bottle of wine. Served at the right temperature for a change. Wine list tremendous and knowledgeable staff but pricey.
One of the best meals I've had in a long time. The onglet with greens and hassleback potatoes was superb. Really enjoyed the baked custard and rhubarb dessert too. Lovely friendly service as well which made for a really enjoyable evening
Great food, however not so suitable for vegetarians and vegans (there was only 1 main fro vegetarians)
The most amazing delicious food in a relaxed homy bohème ambiance, I always recommend it and come back each time I’m in London.
Very good food. Amazing service, very welcoming.
Maybe too noisy... but the overall experience is 5 stars
Amazing food, super helpful & knowledgeable staff. Definitely be returning soon!
One of my favorite. Recommended by a sommelier of another good restaurant in London. Invited my friends for dinner at Brawn and they loved it too. The food is outstanding, and the overall vibe is amazing!
Nice relaxed but busy atmosphere with big tables and plenty of space. Waiter was knowledgeable and helpful. Food was delicious, we had hake and ricotta and mushroom ravioli. Only complaint is I would’ve liked a bit more of it!
Stunning meal everything cooked to perfection and great service
From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted like old friends, although this was our first visit. The staff were very welcoming and we were given excellent advice on choosing a wine to pair our main courses of turbot and rabbit and veal ragu. All the food was exceptionally good and presented well; my crab, calçots and almond starter looked stunning.
This is an absolutely sensational restaurant, who knew that Columbia Rd hid such a gem. My new favourite “go to” for nights out.
Fantastic meal, ordered almost everything on the menu and everything was superb.
We’ll be back!
Great restaurant, lovely staff, fab food and fun atmosphere!
mind blowing. every course is lingering in my mind.
The waiter was very kind and well organised. The atmosphere is relaxed and romantic. The food is an occasion to taste new flavours.
One of the best independent restaurants in London. I can't praise it enough.
An eclectic wine list where you can find new favourites.
It is a tremendously enjoyable place to eat with friends or family.
Great food and service
Great simple food. Lovely atmosphere and beautiful restaurant
Wonderful food, lovely staff and great wine selection
Wonderful space. seasonal ingredients used in a wonderful way.
This place is an absolute gem! Our waitress was amazing. Talking us through the menu then suggesting wines to accompany each dish. Having little experience with natural wines we were slightly apprehensive. But each glass was a delight! The food is exceptional. Each plate was perfect for sharing.
The food was very delicious and we absolutely loved it; however it took so long to a) get asked for what we wanted to order and b) for the food to arrive. Between starters and mains we waited a good 40-50 minutes :( I had the turbot main and it was out of this world delicious, however there was nothing on the menu for a carby or more consistent side (something as simple as new potatoes would have worked a treat) and the fish still had some smaller bones left in there which was very unpleasant. However, my partner had the lamb neck and to quote 'it was worth the wait'.
Very good food although some dishes were a bit salty. Outstanding service and great wine recommendations.
Quirky..... eclectic menu, natural wine list + great, knowledgeable service (by Jo!)
Really tasty food. Far simpler and more delicious than the menu sometimes implies.
Everything was great — the service, food and surroundings. Best meal in a long time. We will be back...
The food was amazing and our server was lovely, friendly and attentive. It's a really cosy place - great for a long lunch.
