Very nice, well looked after and just a very pleasant evening
Very enjoyable evening. Friendly and helpful staff and good food.
Too expensive for bland, dry, and pretty gross food. And a ride waiter.
We went for an anniversary meal after making our reservation. Arrived and was seated in an awesome window table for two. Service was exceptional, food was amazing and very good value! We are on our way back tonight for another meal!
Lovely food, friendly service. Very enjoyable evening.
Brown’s was a lovely find in Edinburgh. Food was great and service was as well. It was a tad pricey but not enough to downgrade the review
I very rarely write negative reviews but these guys are just a complete shambles. Waited half an hour to be seated at a reserved table, surly and inefficient waiting staff with can’t-do attitudes. Highly recommend you avoid spending your time or money here..!
Great food and service!
Despite two confirmation emails confirming my booking Browns had no trace of it on their system.
We were seated eventually however. The meal was fine but the service in a very busy and noisy restaurant was very slow.
Browns is a nice venue for a drink but we decided to eat there. We did arrive a tad early but the place was busy with several parties of all kinds. However being only 2 we were seated, but due to it being busy took a while to get served. However, that I have to say was the good part. The food was another, although my food was fine the other persons food was not. Soup was too full of pepper and the mains a fish pie was so dry and covered in crumbs it was not pleasant to eat. We did mention this to our waitress and the food was taken off the bill! Perhaps we were the unlucky one that night. But if the staff were rushed off their feet then the kitchen staff must have been also which explains the food. It should not have been released from the kitchen but it was...
Although our table was a tad too small for 6 guests we had a great time. We had excellent service, the food came quickly and was delicious and the cocktails were perfect. It was good value for money and we would highly recommend it
Food was extremely good, nice sized portions and very tasty! Nice buzzy atmosphere. Would defiantly visit again.
Just not enough staff. Left ages to order and service was far too slow. Won’t go back. More staff required who struggle to manage all tables.
Great service, wonderful food.
The food was excellent, the staff helpful and friendly whilst being very professional. The ambience is superb and stylish. There is plenty of variety of menu choice and it is very good value for money. It is also has a very upmarket feel to it for that special occasion. Felt very special taking my husband for his birthday. I will definitely go again and would recommend to everyone.
We were at Browns in Edinburgh for a 50th Birthday dinner. There was 12 of us squeezed into a table no where near big enough! We were offered 2 bottles of Prosecco as compensation. We arrived at the restaurant at 8pm, our order wasn’t taken until 8.45pm when I asked if we could order. We never got our starters until 9.25pm, and only finished our main meal at 10.15pm. The waitress never even bothered to ask how our meal was. The manager did give us 20% off our bill, but this hardly made up for the terrible experience we had for my 50th Birthday meal!
Nice afternoon tea, but not really good enough. Too few sandwiches, too much scone
This was my second visit to Browns in edinburgh, both times were well worth the money.
Food tasted great, I had the chicken pie (Delicious) we all had wine and cocktails, the cherry disaronno sour which tasted like I was drinking a Bakewell tart, sublime.
Every one of our group on both occasions said they would recommend Browns, and they all can't wait to come back.
Thanks for a great evening.
Good value for money when you consider places like The Ivy. Good setting and atmosphere.
Had the Sunday Roast special and it was fantastic. We had kids with us and the children’s menu was good also
Lovely food and also a nice restaurant to eat at. Very well located and a nice interior.
Only complaint would be that the British cheese board we ordered for 4 wouldn't really have been enough for one, amount of cheese you got was very disappointing.
Also the floors were randomly very slippery...
But would definitely recommend1
Good food, gentle service
Food excellent and good quality children's menu which was value for money.
Very enjoyable evening with great food and service
I booked a late lunch for visitors from India and the USA - I kept having to change the time - maybe three times by 15-20 minutes - Sam who kept answering when I called was very good in dealing with the situation and ultimately we arrived around 3.45 / lunch and drinks were perfect - all agreed and I would highly recommend browns for a late lunch !
Celebrated my hen do at Browns this weekend. Great atmosphere, lovely service. We were able to put up some decorations and it wasn’t too loud to chat and play some hen games.
Evening totally spoiled by server giving us wrong bill and then being totally offhand about the fact that a mistake had been made. In addition, the manager to whom we addressed concern was supportive of the staff saying anyone can make a mistake. While this may be true in the context of customer service not what you should say.
This was the first time visiting here and the service and the food was amazing and tried the t-bone steak which i have never tried and was mouth watering and my girlfriend had the butternut squash and fell in love with the soup and will definitely be back sometime in the future
Such a disappointment. I'd been looking forward to the fish pie. Sadly it was not as my previous one. It had one prawn, one, inevitably in a fish pie, over cooked scallop and three pieces of fatty salmon. The underside you'd normally throw away. Disgusting. The waitress asked if all was OK I said no and off she went never to return.
We asked in the booking for a table on the level - Ignored so our ninety four year old friend had to crawl up the three stairs ( and down again ) a effort completely unnessary in an almost empty Resturant. Even the most half witted server would have thought, mobility difficulties, better offer a table on the level. The coffee was fine, the fish and chips average. When we laid the bill the waitress asked if we wanted our change.
Sadly not the experience we wanted, with so much competition in the city, buck up Browns or you will be out of business
Two mains were warm and had to be sent back and one main was served long after the others. I done on Brown's regularly and this was the first experience of such poor service. No offer of recompense or gesture. Brown's was not busy that night.
Really good and Christmassy atmosphere - and the roast beef dinner was top notch !!
Brown’s is a big hit and miss. Good mains. Over priced puds. This time poor service. So I have a bit of a love hate relationship with it
First time in this restaurant and I must say it was the best 3 course meal I've tasted the pate was lovely the rib eye steak was cooked perfectly and the rhubarb and apple pie just topped it off
wonderful food in lovely environment!
Good choice of starters, mains and desserts on the fixed price menu. Delicious cocktail selection
Very chic atmosphere, super friendly waiter with a funny dry sense of humor. Great drink list! Very comfortable and not too loud. Made a reservation and were seated right away. Delicious food- lobster risotto with a small side male salad was delicious! Not enough room for dessert. Would recommend!
Food and service was first class as always, the fish dishes were super and would highly recommend the fish pie
Yet again OpenTable let us down , this is the second booking thro them and when we turned up no reservation, won't be using again
Booked for afternoon tea, surprised to be told that they didn't have any scones! Surely they don't take minutes to make and since they advertise afternoon tea they should be a staple on the menu? They did offer mini danish pastries, but they don't go too well with jam and blotted cream which was still served. All in all a bit of a disappointment, doubt we will return for afternoon tea.
