Browns - Manchester
We were a large party so we’re in a private area of the restaurant. We had excellent service from the staff that evening from arrival. The meals were served together and everyone enjoyed their choice of meal. Good range of options on the menu meant everyone could find something to suit them. Would definitely return. Only one suggestion would be that they had some background music in the room to add to the ambiance
Nice evening out with my wife, no special occasion just a treat for a very hard working lady. The ambiance in this place is always very nice coupled with very pleasant staff.
The food was excellent as always . Will visit again soon I'm sure.
80th birthday mral
Very accommodating as we showed up with one extra person and they seated us without a problem
Lovely food in nice surroundings.
Just enough waiting time between courses.
Drinks a little expensive.
Service charge which infuriates me.
Great food and surroundings, all brought together by great staff. Shame that some food items were unavailable but that probably proves how popular they are.
Veggie / cheese board option was not good - food was warm, not hot. Service and ambience however was impeccable.
Lovely place and atomosphere. Slightly long delay between starter and main being served and pasta dish that came out was lukewarm which was slightly disappointing. Overall good food and would return in future.
Nice bite to eat at Sunday lunchtime. Good staff. Nice food. Restaurant quite quiet. Toilets pretty tired and in need of refurbish quickly.
Great food and service
Although quite empty we had to wait a long time to be acknowledged even though staff passed by us many times. After ordering, the service was very slow and the food when it arrived quite cold. However, this is a beautiful place - we have been before (excellent food/service that time) and will probably go again.
Perfect! Lovely building excellent food and amazing staff. Would highly recommend.
Very attentive staff and good food. Very relaxing.
Have been to 3 Browns restaurants and they are all in fabulous old buildings, so have great ambiance. The food is always tasty and well presented and the staff are very courteous without being obtrusive.
Great Place but poor food, I could have made the Chicken Schnitzel at home for 1/4 of the price and it would have been just as good
Food and service was good but the restaurant was very cold
Good food and great service. Only disappointment is that their booking system does not link to Opentable, so they had no record of our booking. Luckily they could fit us in, despite a busy Saturday night. But pointless booking Browns through Opentable.
We had a really nice time, food was excellent and so was the service. The only downside was the very loud music which meant raised voices at our table. Not sure why it has to be nightclub volume levels at 17:30 in the evening in a restaurant.
Tiny tiny portions, me and my 4 girlfriends were so hungry even after eaten our desserts, we felt embarrassed to order more food. My friend ordered creme Brûlée and it had a consistency of custard, they did bring another one and it was a tiny bit firmer but the bottom was fluid. My friend was a little disappointed as that was her favourite dessert.
Service was ok, the girl that served us was nice, but I think could be friendlier.
The corridor to the toilets had pieces of toilet paper scattered across the carpet, it was so weird to find it so messy, especially it was Saturday, expected a cleaner environment.
Great ambience and good food. Would recommend (and I'm not from the area).
Service was really quick and staff were really friendly. Food was good
Good food but poor service had to ask for everything different people served us and that is why we were forgotten about
I dined at Brown's with my daughter before we headed off to watch a play. The service was very good as was the food; I love the ambiance in Brown's and it's a very pleasant dining experience. On this visit, we realised after we'd left that we had left some shopping under the table and fortunately our waitress had retrieved it and kept it safe for us when we returned.
The setting here is a wonderful old bank but we were overpowered by the echoing bar noise on arrival and asked for a quiet table. Once we sat down it was a bit better and the service was excellent and friendly. We had the 'two courses for £10.95' special and it was good. Tasty ham & mustard terrine to start with then very tender minute steak, nicely served. We decided to add a dessert.
I chose the Blueberry mess. Disappointing, virtually entirely cream, with a stray blueberry or two and very little meringue.
I left most of it. Excellent reaction from the waitress who asked why I hadn't finished it and listened attentively to my opinion and said she would convey it to the chef. I wasn't making a fuss particularly or asking for any redress but felt that she showed very good training in terms of customer complaints. It's so important that a complaint is properly acknowledged. Either way, it was a successful meal and very enjoyable so it was really only a minor detail.
Really good service and quality of food cant fault it in anyway only forgot the starter order but probably good as the main and pud was enough with the drinks.
Good food, good service, scallops slightly over cooked and tried to switch the wine we ordered to a lower quality wine but other than that thinks were pretty much perfect
Lovely place to have a meal with your friends or date.
Very disappointed in the food, the slow service and the cheek of adding 10% service charge, which should not be down to them how much tip I should leave.!!! The amount if food was so little, that I had to get a takeaway straight after!!
When arriving they had no knowledge of my booking. Apprently open table and Browns system does not work together. Luckily they had space for us. I booked this table weeks ago as it was important. Very very disappointing they had no booking for us. If there had've been no tables free what then????
Valentines date night, with set menu. Service, quality of food on special valentines menu was exceptional, drinks quality (cocktails) were all spot on - a great venue, a great experience and we will return. Another gem to add to our dining out list.
Fantastic food and service.
Will definitely be visiting again.
Food was just about acceptable, but not city centre restaurant standard, and certainly not value for moderate to high cost.
Waiting staff were good.
Cocktails served were below average.
Had a great meal, in a great place with great service. Would definitely recommend!!
Arrived earlier than booking but were accommodated. Excellent staff and good service. Enjoyed the meal. Child menu good value
Enjoyable meal at Brown's. Attentive, pleasant staff. The vegetarian food was original, and well-presented. Good range of beer and wine available. We were pleased to be seated in the back of the restaurant, as it was quite noisy around the bar, with the music at too high a volume. That would be my only quibble.
We would definitely not return to dine at Brown's. The building looks depressing, it was cold, the portions were tiny & although it was not very busy, the service was appalling. They also have the nerve to add a service charge to the bill for their service.
Went for an aniversary meal. Food was very tasty with fresh ingredients and well presented. The decor and ambience was just right for the occasion, the service we received was attentive but not rushed or over powering. Would recommend this restaurant.
We went to Browns in Manchester as we had eaten and thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience there so i decided to book a table for a Birthday celebration and we were not disappointed. The food, staff and relaxed Ambience were wonderful. On the menu were had a good mix of choices but i must confess i was more than a little miffed that the had run out of fillet steak at 19.30 on a saturday eve but the other choices made up for that (only just). We had starters and mains but alas no room for desert so i cannot comment on those. All in all it was a good experience and we will be going there again.
A fairly tasteless Cesar salad, fruit crumble and small bottle of sparkling water for £17 is a very over-priced lunch when the food is as ordinary as it was at Brown's. A great shame because it could be a great place instead of nothing out of the ordinary.
