Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias
Brilliant food great location staff very good had two nights and breakfast all fantastic.Bryn should be very proud of all his food creations and all involved
Wedi mwynhau y profiaf yn arw, gweini ddi fwdan a hwylus, staff croesawgar a bwyd gwerthchweil.
We enjoyed the visit to Porth Eirias relaxed un fussy efficient service. Very welcoming ambiance not too silent good atmosphere and excellent food.
This was our second visit, we had the set menu. The ambiance , service and food was excellent.
We will defiantly return.
Husband trialled the crab linguini - very tasty & a real explosion of flavours. I had the haddock, which was fabulous! Both had the Baked Alaska for afters - best desert we’ve ever had!
Marvellous meal for two on our third visit. The food and service really are Michelin star standard. From the moment you arrive to when you leave you are well looked after in an informal, friendly and professional manner. The staff are very knowledgeable about the menu the kitchen and the restaurant in general. They give the impression that they are proud to belong and really feel part of the business. We will be back.
Good food but the service was slow and somewhat inattentive despite the restaurant being quiet. We did enjoy ourselves though!
We have always enjoyed excellent meals here - it's also the favourite of our London based foodie kids!
This time we were particularly impressed with the set meal option.
Definitely the place to eat locally.
Love this place. Great from breakfast lunch or dinner. Great simple tasty menu.
Great meal, outstanding food. It was my birthday and I had never mentioned this to the restaurant even though the booking invited me to do so. But the waiter spotted a present I had been given next to my chair and quite unexpected they produced a dessert decorated with the words Happy Birthday. A very thoughful act.
The food was very nice, but the main courses too salty for out taste (we don't cook with salt).
The background music and boomy accoustics were a problem for one of our party, who is hearing impaired and uses hearing aids.
Not enough vegetarian options.
I had the sea bream to start which was very tasty but my partner’s beef croquette was out of this world. We both had the steak (medium), which was cooked to perfection. One slight disappointment was the portion of veg we ordered. We expected a mix of veg such as carrots, broccoli, cauliflower etc.; but we had about 3 huge carrots each, cut in half. They were tasty but way too big and would have preferred less carrots and another veg added. We didn’t order a dessert but had a lovely surprise; shortbread with happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate. This was a nice gesture. Would definitely return but would question which veg you get.
It's always a pleasure to take breakfast or lunch at Bryn's. The service is attentive and the food excellent. Booking ahead is a good idea. Although this is not a cheap option for dining, the situation and ambience apart from the virtues mentioned above make a decent value for money at today's rates.
Excellent Michelin star quality food at pub prices.
Staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful.
Lovely location looking out to sea.
I can’t recommend this place enough.
Third visit to the restaurant there simply isn’t anything to compair on the North Wales Coast. Superb
Second visit to this restaurant as I liked it so much last time. Did not disappoint this time either. A perfect way to spend a new year's eve afternoon, overlooking Colwyn Bay. The restaurant was busy but the service still spot on. Food excellent again. The squid was fresh and perfectly cooked, the confit duck melted in the mouth. Faultless.
It’s average, it’s a shame because the menu reads well and the venue is ideal, more flair, attention to detail and seasoning and it’ll be a much better version of itself!
Lovely restaurant on the sea front - food very good and staff super
Considering it’s the week before Christmas I think the fact only 3 tables were taken speaks volumes.
Positives... nice decor, warm easy to park ( as there are not many guests) ........
The food is very standard pub food at a premium price, not even well seasoned let alone any flare or unique flavours. Limited menu rand basic ingredients, not basic and well prepared, just basic.
Welcomed by a staff member on the phone with not even an acknowledgement whilst others stood and chatted at the bar...which continued throughout the night, having to catch the eye of a Waitress when they turned from chatting.
Overall I assume there has been some kind of funding Insensitive to have a restaurant attached to a name? I can only assume Bryn Williams has either never been to the restaurant himself or simply happy to make hay while the sun shines.
I hazard a guess it won’t last long under the same name.
Yes there is an award but let’s be honest, what restaurant, pub or chip shop hasn’t got one?
Bad service, poor food and overpriced.
Always great food with outstanding service. Not too pricey with great choice of food & drink.
A really good experience and with 2 vegans in the party, the chefs went overboard in supplying a superb vegan menu with some of the tastiest food we have ever tasted. Great job.
I booked on behalf of my partner using open table as he had tried to call twice but no reply to his voicemail. So I booked on Line using open table. And this was efficient and I received a confirmation to my booking in his name.
The following day BW at Porth Eirias called my partner to confirm his booking for 3 people that day
After the lunch I received an email from open table to say no one had shown up for this booking and charged me £75 .
We rang Bryn Williams and they said that they had 2 booking and that hey would not refund me the £75. How did they not realise there was a duplication booking of 3 people at the same time at the same day with the same name as the restaurant was not busy . They are refusing to refund me my money . I will therefore not be recommending this restaurant to anyone else as they should have realised this was an error and if they are that desperate to take this money from me then i seriously worry about the state of their business .
I ate the mackerel with apple and pine nuts (beautiful and intricate, as well as tasty - I'd enjoy more wasabe - in retrospect, I should have asked), and then the whole plaice - new potatoes were suggested as a side dish, I was very happy without. The plaice (on the bone) with capers, shrimp and mushrooms was sensational! I had the peanut butter parfait for dessert - yummy, and also with some amazing, divine, dark chocolate total, utter bliss (I'm not a particular chocolate fiend). Wow. My husband, whose birthday it was, had celeriac velouté, amazing confit duck leg on lentils and their signature baked Alaska, which came with (swiftly devoured) Happy Birthday written in chocolate. Super meal. Lovely staff, just the right amount of attention.
lukewarm soup, lukewarm dinner. Sprouts were like bullets and potatoes were not freshly roasted. Wine vastly overpriced and staff not too interested.
Yes, would recommend but be prepared to pay a lot for some pretty ordinary food. Ambiance is lovely.
Fantastic food, service and location. Highly recommended
Stunning location, food good, waiting times long. Unfortunately the lack of staff training lets this beautiful restaurant down . They are not professional and do not care about you having a enjoyable time whilst there
Everything was excellent. Only one suggestion, could it be possible to have chunky chips as an option.
food is always pretty good, and was once again. The service was great, and we're hoping this team is here to stay, after some less impressive experiences earlier in the year. A lovely meal, much enjoyed - thank you.
It was my birthday and I was seated by a Christmas tree with a clear view of the coast.
The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Great meal, great spot, great service ! The mulled fizz was a revelation! We will be back!
Lovely place, lovely staff, lovely food.
Sea was rough and the weather windy and cold but it was awesome to sit by the windows and watch the storm in silence and warmth!
I had been in the restaurant 4 weeks ago and food was very good. Disappointed this time - the fish pie was very very bland and no seasoning. I have done better myself. My friend had too much lentils with the duck. Ordered side dish of veg but only carrots. Last time we had three types of veg. It is very important that a restaurant keeps the same standard.
The food was lovely and much more reasonably priced than I had expected. We loved the location and the industrial style decor. The staff were pleasant and attentive . . . until about 9.45, when it all started to go wrong.
By this time most of the tables were empty and the staff switched to clean-up mode, noisily cleaning and distributing cutlery, squirting cleaning products on tables and setting up tables all around us for the morning. You start to feel like they’re just waiting for you to leave! And the noise is really not conducive to a romantic meal.
On top of that, the staff were no longer looking around to see if the few remaining customers wanted anything. They were busy chatting to each other, restocking fridges or cleaning. It really annoys me that at the end of the meal it can be so hard to firstly get your bill and then pay it. It’s like you’re playing a game with the staff where you’re trying to catch their eye and they’re doing everything they can to avoid it!
This is really common in restaurants and I wish the staff were given more training in this area. It just ruined what was a good experience up to that point.
My wife had seen an advert for the restaurant and we thought we would try it
We were not disappointed!
Lovely setting and layout of restaurant. Can be a little noisy as its a little open with lots of glass for views but in general a lovely experience.
The food was superb and I have to say that the baked Alaska was the best dessert I've ever had!
Good value for money and food well cooked and presented. Downside for us is that we had 3+ different servers looking after us during the meal which resulted in drink orders failing to arrive and no 'how is you meal/is everything ok?' interactions.
Great food, great service
This was our first visit to Bryn Williams, and we will definitely be returning as it was excellent.
food was luke warm very small portions of french fry s only thing that enjoyed was sweet
Yet again another lovely meal with excellent service. Thank you
We were celebrating at Saturday lunchtime and had an excellent table by the window so we could watch the world go back. Great, attentive but relaxed service and everyone enjoyed their food very much. Next time we might share baked alaskas as they were huge!
