Out of our 4 meals ,2 were not of a good standard.Waitress wasn't very attentive, when we asked for another bottle of wine ,it was very unceremoniously dumped in the ice bucket , without any question about wether the wine or meal was okay. and after our dessert we waited 25 mins. to see if it was possible to have coffee. In the absence of a waitress we had to get up from the table and go to find a somebody, so that we could order coffee for 2 of us.She didn't come and check what we wanted, instead just came back with 2 mugs and a pot of black coffee. Fortunately we had some cream left over from our dessert( which hadn't been cleared away yet).Having not quite finished our coffee we were asked to leave, as the Restaurant was closing. If they had served us in a better fashion ,then we would probably have been finished sooner. It felt like the staff were more interested in laying the tables for the breakfast service.
After visiting the restaurant at Christmas (when you were actually very busy, unlike this time when you hadn't many covers), I recommended you to my friends, but unfortunately we had a really disappointing experience;and when we ended up with a bill of £150, we all felt that the whole experience didn't justify the cost. Based on this experience , I would have to think long and hard about wether I would come again!
Regards Sue B.
Booked a table on line for 4 people, only to be contacted to advise that restaurant was shut, advised by the person telephoning that head office should have indicated this on line!
Food and service fantastic.David the manager was very friendly and helpfull.staff had smiles on their faces.
A nice restaurant with pleasant staff. Menu is a little limited but food was absolutely fine. Very quiet so great if you want to catch up with a friend.
Good food but not great. The price didn't reflect the quality.
Tables were far to close together,
Surroundings were nice
Service was great, Considering how busy we felt we were looked after very well and she was always smiling.
Last negative is the fact there is no option to give a tip on the card machine. I tend not to carry cash so luckily my date did.
Great food, lots of it and friendly service! We stayed for one night so had the chance to enjoy breakfast as well. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
Had the set meal for two, a starter and a main or a main and starter with a glass of prosecco. Overall meal was average, I wouldn't want to pay full price. My mum asked for potatoes instead of salad as she can't eat salad and she literally got a plate full of potatoes and chicken breast, no sauce or side, was a little dry! My salmon was nice and the starter of pork wraps was nice. If you're starving it's not for you.
Food was nice and the service was good. No complaints 👍🏼
After a long hot four hour journey we were really pleased that we booked our meal here.
Restaurant was air conditioned and had a relaxing ambience.
Staff were very helpful and polite.
Food was delicious and well presented.
A very enjoyable experience.
Booked due to on-line offer - £29 for two with Prosecco. On arrival they couldn't find the booking but did honour it. We were almost alone in the restaurant - only one other couple in there so there was no atmosphere at all. A member of staff suggested we share a starter and a pudding thus giving us 3 course instead of the 2 - this worked well as the portions were a good size. Waitress very nice and friendly.
Staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and came out all together and hot even tho there were 12 people! Very child friendly, great authentic Italian restaurant. Great for family celebrations.
This meal was in a satisfaction Saturday deal. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Nice cosy table for two. I thought it was an Italian restaurant, it's not! Just 4 starters to choose from and 3 of those were spicy, I tried the red pepper and tomato soup, too spicy!! Couldn't eat it. Asked to change for mushrooms which didn't come until I'd finished my main!! Very tasty, Italian dish, carbonara. My husband's salmon and wedges didn't even come with salad! I asked for ice cream for sweet to be told they don't do it on its own!!! No gelato at a supposed Italian!! But I asked if they did it for children, which they did and charged me for it too, as our deal was 2 courses! You'd think they would give it to me for the soup problem. Very strange apology from one of waitress's, she seemed a little confused. Overall, dissatisfied. Won't eat here again.
Food was good but service was very slow and 3rd course never came out. Not much choice for the set menu.
Dave, Charlotte and the whole team made our experice at the restaurant something to remember and they are a true credit to the restaurant and the hotel. We were staying at the hotel for 2 nights for our anniversary and would normally only eat at a hotel once, but the team made it such a memorabe experience we went back again!. The food was lovely, tomato soup, the salmon and the burger all get the thumbs up from us!....keep up the hard work Dave and we will be seeing you again soon!.
I ate here on Friday, the food is excellent, but the décor leaves a lot to be desired. It isn't my cup of tea, the walls cluttered with pictures, the pattern on the carpet is very loud 1970,s. Having said that the food is superb, at the end of the day, you are eating the food not the décor!!!
I visited recently with my daughter as we were staying in the hotel as a birthday treat for her. The food was delicious in the restaurant with plenty of choice & our waitress was really lovely, spending time chatting to us to get to know us, she remembered us when we had breakfast the following morning & again went out of her way to chat to us. Excellent service thank you
Serivce was good but a bit slow. However they were very good at moving us when we were distrubed by offensive language and behavior of people at neighbouring table. Food was tasty - not vast quantities but very filling.
Food dreadful, service ok, had to ask for plates for a sharing starter that came in a basket... Friday night the weekend before valentines and it was almost empty! Says a thousand words!
We had a lovely meal in this restaurant- it wasn't very busy so it was quieter and we could chat happily- The waitress was wonderful and very dedicated and committed to her work. The food was delicious and well presented- It was great having the discount voucher although an issue with the website meant the manager had to help us which she duly did. Will definitely be back
The staff are extremely friendly and the service was very good, our only criticism would be that the prices are expensive for what you get.
Disappointing. Limited menu choice & expensive. Waitress service very slow - had to ask where our drinks were & the water on table we requested came out as we nearly finished dinner - there was only about 4 tables dining on the night so not exactly busy!
I can't fault our experience. The staff were at attentive but allowed you time to relax and enjoy the food. A perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. The food itself was superb, desserts to die for.
Lovely staff, really nice food
This was our second evening in the restaurant on a fixed menu with the room. It would have been nice to have slightly more choice since we were repeating on 2 evenings.
Service was excellent and we enjoyed the atmosphere with all the wall pictures etc. Well set out with various levels and table options. Would definitely come again.
The steak was full of grissle could not chew it was worried about swallowing it in case I choked , waited 20 minutes for a drink after ordering it , the room was covered in dust , no bottled water in the room , both taps were running hot water so couldn’t even get a glass of water over night , the sheet was put on the bed awfully the corners wearnt folded they were just scrunched up in the corners , there wasn’t much lighting in the room , heating wouldn’t work , there was only 1 bath towel available to use , only 2 coffee sachets available ,1 milk , every time the people upstairs went for a wee and flushed you could here them , have stayed lots of times before in this hotel and has never been a problem before , also there were 20 boys racers in the car park Erving up there engines till the est hours of the morning with there headlights on aswell as the fact they were shouting and a fight broke out also
Nice atmosphere with various seating options. Decor good. We had a fixed menu which was fine and enough to eat.
Service was excellent.
Will come again.
Had a lovely time here for my birthday. Food was delicious and well presented. Would definitely be returning and have already recommended to a few people. Not an obvious choice and I don't think many people are aware it's there, but a great find 😊
I thought that the food was overpriced for what you got and I felt hungry still when we left. Think the meal options need to be evaluated to little more variety with pizza options, ribs maybe.
My daughter liked her burger though.
It was good service and good food
We had a lovely meal for two! Fantastic food! Really amazing decor and every single member of staff was friendly, professional and extremely welcoming! We would 100% go back again!
Staff very pleasant and attentive. Restaurant very quiet and few customers which set the ambience.
We had a 2 course meal included in the price of our hotel stay, the ambience of the restaurant was nice and the staff very friendly. The food that we had was average though portions were a little small, this was acceptable as the meal was included in the hotel, I would have had a problem with this if we had been dining here out of choice...
I had a pint of Ale with my Dinner and my girlfriend had a bottle of lager, the price of these drinks were extortionate £5.25 for my pint, and £4.20 for a small bottle of lager... there were no price lists, I can understand why because I would have settled for a glass of water rather than paid those prices...
I have eaten in lots of hotel restaurants and lots of other high end food establishments, and this one left me very underwhelmed.
Always had a Great meal and great service
Stead at hotel and I love roasts
Absolutely terrible. Pate was awful, chicken stuffed with herbs and garlic was a chicken kiev, no mention of breadcrumbs on the menu. Creamy mash potato was Smash.
We have been to this restaurant several times before and as we were travelling to London to celebrate my husband's 65th birthday we decided to have a meal on the Friday evening in this venue. We were surprised to see the menu was much smaller but were able to choose dishes although I asked the waitress to ask the chef if my dish could be made milder. They said yes it could. When our meals were brought to us mine was bordering on cold and as it had chicken in it I asked for it to be reheated. The waitress told me she had to check and proceeded to stick her finger in it! She agreed and took it back. After a long wait(my husband had just about finished his meal) it was brought back and had been remade but not mildly hence it was too spicy to eat. I had to leave it. In between this my husband had asked for more parmesan and we were told that they would get it from the kitchen but when it came back it was either grated mozzarella or cheddar but certainly not parmesan(my husband is Italian so he should know) so we asked for real parmesan. When we ordered our desserts (I was quite hungry by this time) the waitress only brought one for my husband! We reminded her that I had ordered a Tiramisu she looked vague and went back to the kitchen. By the time this came out my husband had finished his dessert so had eaten alone again whilst I watched. We complained and the waitress said it wasn't her fault so we asked to speak to the restaurant manager. He did all he could to rectify the situation and took off the charge for my meal and both desserts (the tiramisu didn't even have any sponge in it and was just slop)and offered us some extra wine. He acted very professionally and agreed with us that it was a total cock up(my words not his) and we feel very sorry that we had to complain but literally so much was wrong that we will not be going back.
V. Good, keep it up. Would visit again in the future
Good attentive staff. Great dinning room and good food.
Some may find the menu a little restricted but I quite prefer that. Good portions and value for money.
Really lovely carvery for Sunday lunch with lots of choice. Wine list however is poor and overpriced.
We had visited for Sunday lunch before so were looking forward to this visit. We had a nice table, but had no service once we were seated and after 15 minutes we had to find someone to ask.
The food was not up to the standard we remembered, dry beef, salty gammon, flat dry Yorkshire puddings, non crispy potatoes, the veg was OK. Deserts were limited too, so OK meal but prefer Toby Carvery
